NFT: Joe Lauzon at 31.

Nice article about one of my favorite MMA fighters.

Quote:
Joe Lauzon may be fighting in the UFC at 50 years old and we’ll still think of him as the fresh-faced kid from Boston who turned the idea of being the sacrificial lamb on its ear when he knocked out Jens Pulver in less than a minute back in September of 2006.

He was 22 years old then, and on the van ride back to the hotel after scoring the upset of the year over the former lightweight champion, Lauzon wasn’t plotting an afterparty and a long vacation. He had to be back to work on Monday for his IT job, so all he wanted was a good night’s sleep before the cross-country flight home from Anaheim the next morning...

I hope his noggin is ok

He looked better in his last fight, but against Chiesa he looked brain-dead (and rusty).
Love the way this kid

Battles but he's got no shot at the title at this point in his career IMO

He reminds me of Leben with his attitude. Takes a few too many shots. Over the years w 4 oz gloves that shit takes a toll.. Punches even in practice add up. At some point I look at the Nog brothers and Wandy and can't image the daily pain they deal w. They look ancient. Lauzon is a warrior in there.
He looked good tonight.

And he was quicker on the draw than Herb Dean.
He's a good kid. Gomi is done though

He's a solid top 5-10. Light wieght is stacked. He would need to pass more thaN A few guys to get a shot at RDA or Whoever has the title.

Right now Kabib Bendo Cowboy and Petits are all ranked Above him for sure.
I love Lauzon, but he's probably not even a top 15 LW...
Matt G : 7/26/2015 10:43 am : link
Doesn't mean he isn't a guy that's fun to watch as evidenced by his performance bonuses...

Dos Anjos is clearly juicing... Glad to see he's finally getting called out by the rest of the LW division...
I like Lauzon because he always puts on a good show.

Same reason I like Frankie Edgar. Sure, Gomi is well past his prime and Lauzon will never be a champion, but he seems like a good guy and as long as he keeps stepping into the Octagon, I'll root for him.

So, what did you guys think of the rest of the card? For a free show, I thought it was pretty damned good.
Dillashaw is one hell of a fighter...
Matt G : 7/26/2015 11:30 am : link
The rest of Team Alpha Male can't hold a candle to him in the standup... Say what you want about Duane Ludwig, but he is absolutely right...

A healthy Dominick Cruz vs Dillashaw would pretty awesome...
Dana White seemed none too pleased with the Cruz situation.
Klaatu : 7/26/2015 11:37 am : link
I guess you can't really blame him, though. Sucks to have one of your best guys on the shelf.
Dillishaw has become a great fighter.

Didn't think much of him on TUF but Matt G is correct. Ludwig has transformed him. To me most world class athletes can learn other disciplines but iota hard. Two two others IMO who seem to have done the same are Werdum and Jacare. When your mat skills are top tier and you can become legit like these guys have in the stand up game its amazing to watch.

Cruz vs him would be great. Crap whom else is at 135 for him anyway? I was thinking Mighty Mouse jumping up to fight him since he's cleaned pout 125 other than another shot for Dodson.

As for the card it was very good. Especially for free. The last three cards have been outstanding. Hope this run continues.
