Before anyone says, why don't I build my own, I do have one I built, but I prefer to game on a laptop. It's easier when the wife is sleeping.
Anyway I am looking to spend anywhere from $1000-$1500. Anything under $1000 would be great, but I am worried about the GPU not being somewhat not up to standards. I am not really looking for anything to play on the highest settings either. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro and it actually did a decent job, but it's time for me to upgrade to something that should last 3-4 years. Anyone recommendations?
I know its not ideal if you plan on traveling with your laptop and hoping to game, but Steam's In-Home streaming service is very impressive.
I have an older alienware m11x laptop that just doesn't cut it for gaming, but when I decide to stream games locally to it, it works flawlessly.
That aside, If you are absolutely intent on purchasing a gaming laptop, the less that you spend will diminish the longevity of the machine regardless of brand.

But, I did purchase a Mach V desktop in 2013 and they can get pricey depending on what you order.
They have been in business for over 20 years and I am completely happy with the HW and their customer support is top notch.

My son ordered one about two months ago and has had to return it for constant blue screens of death. Disappointing certainly, but the service has been fairly responsive so far, though we haven't received the repaired unit back yet. Just one person's experience.
I am trying to put numbers together in my head. In 2011, I spent $2,200 on a Macbook. It is still going strong overall, but it is really starting to suck for playing games. I think my biggest area of concern is the GPU's. If I spend $1,000 now and in two years, spend another $1,000 that should keep me at pace, if I were to buy another MBP. The problem is, I I can't find a GeForce GTX 970M under $1,000. I believe I was reading that there is a pretty decent gap between the 960M and 970M. I always liked to future proof myself, but not sure this time around.
