So maybe I am a hypocrite, too. But when I read Arod is amazing, I just laugh. It is not a holier than thou attitude, check up all my posts about Big Papi, I respect the game way too much than to give praise to some guy who has repeatedly cheated and acted with the classless manner that he did at those hearings in 2013. He not only disgraced baseball, but the Yankee uniform. I want to win and am glad he hit the homers tonight, but please spare me the Arod is amazing garbage.
I could careless if they all took them. So yeah, if ARod has a 3 HR game, damn right people are going to say it was a great performance. If that bothers you, then I don't know what to tell you.
hip condition that required surgery due to a misshapen femur and years of abuse created great strain and so he had surgery to fix the way his femur went into his hip socket..
He needed tor rehab and get back to his old form.
Quote:
Is this really enough to explain Rodriguez being a non-factor late in the year?
"The short answer is, yes.
That’s where it becomes clear that there is a direct correlation between inability to use your hips and (lack of) performance,” Dr. Kelly said. “It’s no different from when your Little League coach told you your power was generated through your hips. If you can’t generate torque through your hips because of progressive loss of motion, and you can’t generate power, you alter your mechanics.”
Does that mean fixing this problem will bring Rodriguez back to his old self?
"Depends on a lot of factors, including Rodriguez’s ability to rehab, regain strength and teach his muscles to work with this new range of motion (which should be better than it’s ever been). It also depends on Rodriguez’s cartilage. It will have been damaged by the repeated abuse, and Dr. Kelly won’t have a perfect sense of that damage until he actually cuts into Rodriguez’s hip on the day of surgery. Early exams, though, were promising.
The imaging study shows that he has some cartilage wear that makes me think we will be able to get him back to his pre-injury level of play, that it’s not so extensive that it will ultimately impact his ability to play,” Dr. Kelly said. “Unfortunately, our imaging doesn’t give us all the information, and that’s something we’re going to know at the time of surgery.”
And he has only played 133 MLB games since the end of the 2012 season, and 106 of them have been as a DH. He is probably as fresh has he has been in years.
about any trade that might happen. I think they're just saying that the Phillies probably don't pitch him again and risk a potential injury. If he pitches, I doubt he's going anywhere. And if other teams like the Dodgers or Cubs really want him, they probably have more to offer than the Yankees do. Hamels would be nice but not at the cost of Severino or Judge.
I think LA is a real landing spot for Hamels. They don't mind taking on money and they always want to go for it all. I don't think the Cubs are contenders yet even with Hamels. If I'm the Cubs, I'd rather just not give up a top prospect and throw money at Price in the offseason.
The Dodgers payroll is already at $273 million and would hit almost $300 million with Hamels on board. How much more money do they have?
would be in on Chapman or Kimbrel since they could use some help in relief. They've already spent almost $100 million on the rotation.
The other rumor floating around LA is that Donnie Baseball is done with Puig and wants the front office to trade him. Now if the Dodgers offer the Phillies Puig for Hamels there's nothing the Yanks could do
Or he's brilliant. Just kidding. He's def clean. A year away to fix the hips and train hard. He's def natural and he's showing the world why he doesn't need the juice and never did. Love the guy has a lot of heart and just loves the game. Easy to guy to root for and much more likeable now than he ever was
just watched the highlights, and wow! Everything about this game other than CC's start was great. And those were three blasts by Arod, and quite a key blast by JR Murphy as well.
I'm with those that think getting his hips operated on, taking a year off from baseball, and coming back just as a DH are the reasons for Arod's success. I just can't see that he'd be juicing under the circumstances.
We'll see about Hamels soon enough, I guess. I know we need an ace but I like our prospects and would hate to give up too much.

I wouldn't give up too much for Hamels, either. Would rather them just sign Price in the offseason and not give anyone up.
of 480 feet. Only Giancarlo and Joc Pederson hit balls 480 ft or longer this season
You know, going into the season, I wasn't sure if ARod was done or not, but I sure as hell didn't think he'd be launching near 500 foot HRs more than halfway through in the season, all the while having a 3 HR game that particular day. Like someone else said, I've literally run out of adjectives to describe how tremendous he's been this season. Just what can you say?

Even before he came out for doing the steroids, he was hated by other teams' fans. Just one of those players that if he's on your team, you like him, and if he's on another team, you hate him.

I'd build a package around Greg Bird and Gary Sanchez and see whether that gets it done. Once Ruben the village idiot asks for Severino or Judge Cashman should hang up the phone
So close that the Reds had a spot starter warming up tonight in Cueto's place. The deal was put on hold when the health of one of the players involved was brought into question. A deal for Cueto going to KC could still happen at any time
I'm having a ton of fun watching Alex this season. It also pretty clear he's developed into a leader on this team. Watch how he's on the front step ready to greet JR after that home run. I think it's entirely possible he's learned and changed.
This team has something working for them, and I'm enjoying it.
Just caught up on the late innings from last night Â
This team is fun to watch, and having a lot of fun together
ARod and JR Murphy were the heroes, and Warren turned in a clutch outing from the pen - but Tex also deserves a lot of credit for great base running to set up the 4th run
He hustled his ass off on a tag up to get to 3rd on a fly ball with one out, then busted it to score on a line drive to a CF that wasn't really that deep

His problems the last few years were a result of his hip problems. He couldn't generate the rotational force he needed to explode through his swing and he couldn't turn on inside pitches. In 2013, when he came back from injury, he couldn't do anythign against right-handers because of his hip.
Maybe he's using. But it could also be explained by the notion that he is that he's finally healthy and no longer wears down his body by having to play third. Power was always the one thing that lasted into old age which is why so many power hitters are always able to stick around. Hank Aaron hit 40 home runs in the same age-season. Then again, Hank admitted that he used. [/quote
Bingo! Man was badly injured for two years. gets a year to recuperate and is now back healthy. His opposite field power has returned. Looks like he is just back to his normal self. ARod is an exceptional athlete and probably is over 600 HRs even if he never did 'roids.

I don't disagree with this at all. Nobody is saying Arod is being a bad teammate; I think you are right, all the evidence points to him being a team leader this year. My only point is you are never going to hear me say he is "Amazing" or he has "redeemed" himself because of output on the field. He has lost my benefit of the doubt in that area. It doesn't mean, however, that he isn't doing a great job in the clubhouse.
I think if the possibility of use doesn't cross your mind... Â
You're deluding yourself. But so fucking what. There are still users in the sport, if A-Rod is willing to risk his career being over that's his prerogative. Either way, I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts.
The rumors of his usage vary. But, most go back to his first days in Texas, with some as early as Seattle. Whichever is true, he was using during every one of his MVP seasons and a good chunk of his career is tainted.
As for today, I honestly don't think he is using. He is likely being tested regularly and now testing includes blood. More than anything, I think, he actually benefitted from his suspension. It gave him time to not only properly rehab his hip, but to get back into excellent shape. Primarily DHing has also preserved his body. He was always one of the hardest working players in the league, so it should not be a complete surprise to people.
I meant to add something along those lines. It is not unfair for usage to cross people's minds. At the same time, clean or not, it is also not crazy to have expected some level of rebound from him. Personally, from before the season, this is along the lines of what I was expecting. I thought a .275 to .285 BA would not be crazy and 25-30 HRs also realistic. HRs in the 35-45 range I wouldn't have expected, but I also wouldn't be shocked if it happens.
I thought he was going to be a bench bat at best... Â
He has already outdone any of my expectations for him. He may be clean, he may not be, I don't particularly care. He sucked some of the years he was using, that alone wouldn't explain his success.
if we are rooting for ARod. That's ridiculous. ARod,my like Ortiz, has done his time. Hell, message done more than his fair share of time if you ask me. And U.S., as Yankee fans, have paid a severe price as well. Not only did we not get ARod for an entire year, but we've had to endure opposing fans acting as if we are the only team with roiders.
ARod has done his time. We have done our time as fans. It's time to move on. If you're a Yankee fan and can't cheer for ARod, maybe it's time you take up another hobby. Maybe that hobby should be to get rid of the skeletons in YOUR closets.
There's starting to be a really interesting contrast Â
between the Yanks with Jeter as captain and the Yanks now. And I'll preface by saying I'll always love Jeter and everything he did, so I don't mean to besmirch Jeters legacy
But there's no real debate he was stone cold serious and didn't really like having ARod as a teammate...the chatter about the Yanks clubhouse once guys like O'Neill, Bernie, Tino and others retired was that it was very business-like and everyone followed Jeters lead. And, while I do congratulate him on his new attitude, it doesn't erase for me the crap of the 2013 hearings and what a mess that became. There is absolutely no getting around that. He is a Hall of Fame player. One of the greatest of all time. that doesn't change because he hurt your feelings. And there's nothing hypocritical about saying that.
I admire your desire to be able to stick your chest out and tell your Red Sox buddies that you're not hypocritical, but while they are patting you on the back, let them know that we, as Yankee fans, have given ARod a billion times more grief than they've given Ortiz. I am fucking loving what AROD is doing, he can't hit enough home runs as far as i'm concerned. He wasn't the only user, he wasn't the only liar and MLB was hell bent on destroying him. What he's doing now is a big fuck you to mlb and i'm loving every second of it.
How would you feel about a straight up trade of Aaron Judge for Atlanta's top prospect SS Jose Peraza?
Don't think ATL would do it because SS/middle infielders are more valuable than outfielders when all things are equal. They'll probably move this Peraza to 2nd to put his bat in the lineup since Simmons is blocking him
Essex has a very decent and defendable point. How can he be down on Arod the cheater, and then slobber on him once he contributes? He's got what I assume a lot of fans have, a complicated pov on a guy who's done a lot of stupid things and hurt the team. I hope Arod is doing this the right way, because fuck him if he's using and lets the team down again.

They have already moved Peraza to 2B but Atlanta has another prospect Ozhaino Albies who is a similar prospect to Peraza but he is better in every category except for power which neither has much of. There has been speculation that Atlanta could move Simmons in the future when Albies is ready and if Peterson or Peraza have locked down 2B. Atlanta only has a couple of solid OF prospects and one of them is in single A so they could definitely use an OF with power. I am not that high on Peraza as most are because of his low walk rate. I am very high on Albies though.
so it's kind of silly to assume either way. Just enjoy his playing well and the Yankees winning. If you don't want to like him then that's fine. Me personally, I don't care that much about PEDs when players are THAT good with or without them. I personally think players that became all time greats should be in the hall of fame, even if they were users. Bonds, Clemens, ARod... put them all in. If drugs turned you into an all-time great baseball player, everyone would have been hitting 50 home runs a season. When your numbers are that much better than the rest of the pack throughout your career, it's more than the PEDs.

Would you feel the same way about ARod if he was on Boston and performing the same way?
The first HR was on a pitch at the knees dipping towards the inside corner. The second HR was on an outside pitch which he had to reach for and time. The third HR was on a fastball at the knees that he had to time perfectly
Those swings require insane baseball talent and hand-eye

Yeah since Ortiz was a user. I don't know if he still uses or not though. It's fun to joke about but I have no clue either way.

When Ortiz has to go through what ARod has, and misses an entire year year for his cheating, I will consider it time served and move on. Braun didn't serve the same time ARod did, and he threw somebody under the bus, but I have no problem with him at this point. He served his time.
Ortiz?

Exactly, but mouth breathers will dismiss everything you said and immediately claim its the roids. I don't think some people get exactly how hard it is to do what these guys do, especially an all time great like AROD.

This is the dumbest argument. Of course, Arod is a great baseball player, with or without roids. He is the one, though, who has made the choice to blur the lines of what we can tell he does by natural talent and what he does by aritificial enhancement.
As I said, go back the threads when the Red Sox were in the World Series, I was brutal on Ortiz.

Atlanta only has a couple of solid OF prospects and one of them is in single A so they could definitely use an OF with power. I am not that high on Peraza as most are because of his low walk rate. I am very high on Albies though.
Would you feel the same way about ARod if he was on Boston and performing the same way?
Those swings require insane baseball talent and hand-eye

so it's kind of silly to assume either way.
