his foot and his foot only that's kept him off the field??
If the foot is allright is it unreasonable to assume that he should be out there.
I think a back seven of Beason ..Kinard...Thomas..Prince...cromartie...collins and cooper could be very good.
Yes, not past injuries..This was more of a fluke..Hopefully, that's the end of it..Simms finally shed his yearly injury crap around '84(until '90 broken foot)..Perhaps Beason will shed his(fingers crossed)
the defense will thrive and the run D will be much better too. There's no doubt he brings smarts to the D and attitude. Who would replace him in the middle McClain or Kennard?! He would be a huge loss on the D if he was out any period of time, although I do believe the LBERS look a little bit better this year. I just do not like McClain in the middle. Although he made tackles last year, they always seemed to be a number of yards upfield. He's just not athletic enough
A healthy Jon Beason would be a huge treat. (and other thoughts) Â
First, it would be a huge boost to the defense to have him at MLB -- he is a great player.
Second, this is the kind of guy you want around a young core of talent on defense. You want him on the field telling everyone where to go, what to look out for, quarterbacking the defense. He can't do that if he's on the sideline. Having a strong presence at MLB is something this team has truly missed in recent years.
I've seen a lot of people bashing the Giants defense online (Graziano in particular). While this is an unproven group, I also see a lot of potential here. I think back to the 2008 offseason when Strahan retired and Osi had a season-ending injury and Tuck stepped up and Cofield and Robbins and Kenny Phillips. There is young talent on this team and we have Spags back and there are reasons for optimism. JPP is a great talent but he's not irreplaceable. Is there a single guy on the roster that is capable of doing what he does? Probably not. But can you mix and match a handful of guys and get the same level of production? I think we can.
Excited for training camp. Excited for New York Giants football.
Beason is a good, not great linebacker.....he looked better than he actually was, because he made plays, an average linebacker makes.....something, not one of the Giant linebackers could do, 2 years ago.....the rest of the Giant linebackers were so bad by comparison, it made him look better than he actually was...
He is good against the run, but nothing special against the pass.....they are better with him than without him, but he is not the force out there, that he is drummed up to be....I believe his first game was against Chicago....and while the defense looked better with him on the field, it was more a combination of Will Hill becoming a starter, and playing against 2nd tier quarterbacks, than him being the main reason....
Hopefully, he can stay on the field......this defense has no depth, like the rest of the team, that they can ill afford to lose him....
...their awful grade for Beason in 2013 was not entirely without basis. I think a healthy Beason can be a significant asset; but his days as a "great linebacker" may have ended five years ago, which is a lifetime in the NFL.
