Three judges in Vegas just gave a victory to Jean Pascal over newcomer Yuniesky Gonzalez. Pascal clearly got beat but he was the favorite and in line for a Kovalev match if he wins tonight during the main event.
Even Kellerman - a noted apologist for bad decisions - called this one as a mistake. Lederman who is a bit senile had Gonzalez winning. As did Hopkins. Pathetic.
Meanwhile, ufc fight night was awesome on Fox.
Oh shit, you're still alive after being completely eviscerated the other day by Bill2? Did you ever bother to reply to the thread? Probably not.
My first big problem with boxing are the 4 major sanctioning bodies that run boxing. The 4 major sanctioning bodies are the WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO. This means that there can be 4 champions at a time. For example in the middleweight division there are 4 champions at the moment. Miguel Cotto is the WBC champion, Gennady Golovkin is the WBA champion, David Lemieux is the IBF champion, and Andy Lee is the WBO champion. Instead of having 1 legit middleweight champion, we have 4 guys claiming to be the champion. This is made even worst by the 2 big sanctioning bodies the WBC and the WBA, when you they have 2 separate champions for one division. For example the full WBC champion is Miguel Cotto, but the interim Champion is Gennady Golovkin. Or another example would be in the welterweight division where Floyd Mayweather is the WBA "super" welterweight and Keith Thurman is the WBA "regular" welterweight champion. This is fucking bullshi in my opinion. It's bad that we can have 4 different champions by 4 different sanctioning bodies, but we have can have sub champions under a sanctioning body. Fuck that, let's crown 1 legitimate champion per division . This is where MMA gets it right, and boxing falls way behind.
My other major issue with boxer is where boxing promoters and their agendas are ruining the sport. The 3 major promoters right now are Bob Arum at Top Rank, Oscar De La Hoya with Golden Boy, and Al Haymon with Premier Boxing Champions. Arum and De La Hoya do not do business with Al Haymon because of years of bad blood. This causes boxers with one promoter not to fight another boxer with another promoter. For this reason we might never get to see a Keith Thurman (under Al Haymon) fight a Tim Bradley (under Bob Arum). This was also the major reason Mayweather vs Pacquiao was not made sooner. Floyd under Al Haymon hated Bob Arum who promotes Pacquiao.

Great post.
There are just too many factions in boxing for the casual fan to know what's going on. Unless they break it down and have one consensus, sanctioning body, boxing will continue to suffer.
Lemieux sucks. Hate to say it but it's true. No punch resistance and one dimensional. Golovkin will make short work of him. I don't see anyone beating him at 160 right now.
Aw fuck, who am I kidding. That fucking doucheface has learned nothing and will continue to be a stain on this board.
Did anybody notice the look of terror on the face of the poor guy who fought Kovalov (when the bell for the 1st round rang ?). Embarrassing, almost as bad as when Muhammed Ali fought Chuck Wepner (well at least Chuck wasn't scared)
Then the first fight decision, agreed, that was a joke.
Th public hopes and longs for the day when boxing will return to it's glory. Very little hope, right now.
Boxing is still a great sport but it has its' issues. And, for the most part they get the decisions right.
I'm a casual fan at best because for all the moronic anti UFC posts we get I watch most cards. Some do suck but generally there will always be a couple of really good fights on most cards. Boxing is a non stop snooze fest.
Lastly for all the die hard boxing fans everyone knew who Muhammad Ali was. Joe Frazier. sugar Ray Leonard. Roberto Duran who was a sports fan.
No knows who the top 3 or 4 boxers are. And no one gives a fuck who they are outside of Mayweather. Sadly his last fight pretty much assures no casual fan will ever waste another night watching him.
If it wasn't for betting boxing would be in even worse shape but it's day has passed. MMA won't ever rise to the heights boxing had but you ask 18-30 year old me who they would know the chances are they will know a lot more MMA fighters. A lot more. the future is grim despite those who want to pretend it's a fight sport anymore never mind rising in popularity.

Did you hear about Golovkin vs Lemieux on PPV in October. Good scrap between the best 2 legitimate middleweights in the world right now. I favor Golovkin, but he better watch out as Lemieux has knockout power in both hands.

I disagree, I think Lemieux has improved tenfold since losing to Marco Antonio Rubio. He's not at Golovkins level but GGG can't clown on him like GGG did with Willie Monroe Jr. Lemieuxs power will hurt anyone in the division.
I'll still watch boxing - no doubt - but it universally has pretty much caused millions of fans to question its legitimacy and value in the sports world recently.
