Texas will be a tough series on the pitching staff with the heat (and possibly the Rangers' offense) and we'll really need to use the pen in Arlington because the starters will have a tough time going more than 6
Toronto's run differential is almost +100 so they should be a lot better than one game over .500. They must have a crap bullpen to win that many blowouts but still be mediocre record-wise
Great series win. Eovaldi is really rounding into a good power pitcher. I don't mind Joe letting him go out and try to get the complete game. Lots of production from the bottom of the order. The Yankees are winning a lot of different ways, which is exactly how you got to the playoffs.
But if you're gonna make that decision you can't give him just one batter with a six run lead.... Aw, hell, I'm nitpicking. This team is impressing the hell out of me, and Girardi is a big part of that. Brilliant series win.

You guys quote these types of #'s all the time and that's all well and good but you play every day in baseball for 6 months. You truly are what your record says you are. I'm all for advanced stats, they have revolutionized the thinking of the game often in a good way. However I don't buy the "luck" thing. 4 months into the season you are what your record says you are. The Jays are a mediocre team with strengths and weaknesses. The weaknesses have dragged the strengths down to .500
I don't think run differential is an exotic stat, if you are scoring a lot more runs than you are giving up you are losing a lot of close games. The Jays have 18 relief losses to the Yankees 9. That's the difference.
I agree you are who your records says you are, and a bad bullpen will kill you in modern baseball, but don't be surprised if they add a couple of bullpen pieces and then get a lot better.

Chapman or Kimbrel is an absolute must for the Jays at the deadline. Their front office is committing malpractice without a closer when they've lost 18 games due to their pen
I just hear a lot of "that team can't keep it up" here and frankly at this point I think we are beyond that. Meh who cares about the mediocre Jays. Time to start getting a bit excited about this Yankees team. they showed a lot this weekend. Minnesota has been one of the best teams at home this year and the past 2 days we clubbed them to death. Will be interesting to see if cash pulls the trigger on a guy like Hammels or a lefty OF bat or maybe a 2b.

I think the Yankees are primed for a pennant race, and I am very optimistic. I want them to add a bat, either at 2nd base or OF. If the Jays improve from wildly bad to just average in the bullpen they have every chance of making it close, and I don't want that at all.

I don't buy the Rangers rumors on Hamels. I think Ruben is trying to use Texas to drive up the price for us or the Dodgers. It makes no sense for Texas to pick up Hamels when they're not really in contention
Heyman tweets that the Yanks will not trade Severino in any Hamels deal. We already knew that Judge was untouchable but Cash is also excluding Severino.
That means the Yanks might be offering a Bird/Sanchez package
New highwater mark of 13 games over .500. And another great series win, this time on the road. Just keep winning series and we'll be sitting in the drivers seat the rest of the way, at the very least as far as the division goes.
Remember when some were bent out of shape about trading Shane Greene?
7:2?
Betances getting ready in a hurry, but not sure why we'd need him in a 7-1 game
Great job today. Saved the BP. Might be McCann teaching him to pitch.

John and Susan are saying that Betances hasn't pitched in five days, so it's probably him.

Wilson?

Hopefully not because we've got 4 in Texas and we'll need Betances/Miller for 3 of them
Joe botched this a little by letting Eovaldi start the 9th
Just bring in Betances and end it...or Wilson.
Awesome series win
And how about that Garret Jones? Tex better watch his back at first. Jones was catching all the throws to first base today. Didn't even drop one!

Only in MLB. He did OK for the Toledo Mud Hens after he was sent down.
