NFT: Yankees at Twins game 3- Arod out of the line up

Alex Rodriguez will not be in the starting lineup for Sunday's game vs Minnesota.
@AROD
Doomed!

After last nights great game he deserves a day off

remember he is 40.
As what some have said on here, one of the reasons likely
micky : 7/26/2015 12:00 pm : link
Contributing to his success (taking the naysayers view away as "it must be roids/PEDs") this season so far may be the year off of wear and tear and hip healing more, along with timely rest with schedule days off and DH role. Plus his natural talent.

Hopefully, he continues as season wears down and into a postseason.

Very true, and the Yanks are on a long road trip with no off days, so today (day after night game) is a good time to rest him
He gets a half day off
nygnyy274 : 7/26/2015 12:31 pm : link
Every single game, he's a DH all he does is hit its not like he still plays the field. Rest him a game in Texas when it's going to be 110 degrees
Jones is starting at 1st
Kulish29 : 7/26/2015 1:31 pm : link
So, this is more giving Tex a day off than A-Rod.

Relax.
ARod is hitting like .212 with 1 HR in day games after a night game
GiantJake : 7/26/2015 1:55 pm : link
Also...Girardi said the Yanks could face two (maybe even three) lefties in Texas so he decided to give ARod today off. Tex gets half a day off and Jones gets some at-bats.

OBJ_AllDay : 7/26/2015 2:04 pm : link
im starting to really think this squad is one starting pitcher away from making a serious run at the WS. Never saw this coming headed into the year. One more top 3 in the rotation pitcher and I am starting to think they can make a run.

ARod played in 90 of the team's 96 games and he's 40. Plus, he could completely wreck Texas in those hot and humid conditions. And someone brought up ARod's stats in day games after night games, so Girardi made the right choice to rest him today. If the Yanks need him to pinch-hit he'll be available

You guys quote these types of #'s all the time and that's all well and good but you play every day in baseball for 6 months. You truly are what your record says you are. I'm all for advanced stats, they have revolutionized the thinking of the game often in a good way. However I don't buy the "luck" thing. 4 months into the season you are what your record says you are. The Jays are a mediocre team with strengths and weaknesses. The weaknesses have dragged the strengths down to .500
...
christian : 7/26/2015 6:44 pm : link
I don't think run differential is an exotic stat, if you are scoring a lot more runs than you are giving up you are losing a lot of close games. The Jays have 18 relief losses to the Yankees 9. That's the difference.

I agree you are who your records says you are, and a bad bullpen will kill you in modern baseball, but don't be surprised if they add a couple of bullpen pieces and then get a lot better.

Chapman or Kimbrel is an absolute must for the Jays at the deadline. Their front office is committing malpractice without a closer when they've lost 18 games due to their pen

I just hear a lot of "that team can't keep it up" here and frankly at this point I think we are beyond that. Meh who cares about the mediocre Jays. Time to start getting a bit excited about this Yankees team. they showed a lot this weekend. Minnesota has been one of the best teams at home this year and the past 2 days we clubbed them to death. Will be interesting to see if cash pulls the trigger on a guy like Hammels or a lefty OF bat or maybe a 2b.

I think the Yankees are primed for a pennant race, and I am very optimistic. I want them to add a bat, either at 2nd base or OF. If the Jays improve from wildly bad to just average in the bullpen they have every chance of making it close, and I don't want that at all.

I don't buy the Rangers rumors on Hamels. I think Ruben is trying to use Texas to drive up the price for us or the Dodgers. It makes no sense for Texas to pick up Hamels when they're not really in contention
