Now, it has more than jumped the shark. He is in Chris Berman teritory. Every fucking player doesn't need a "special" HR call, nor does every single dinger. Seriously...does anyone enjoy his calls?
he calls him alexander emmanuel rodriguez, that is straight creeper status. It's also not the first time i've heard him address AROD like that, fucking weird.

John Sterling is bad but Chris Berman has his own territory that no other mortal can possibly reach...otherwise agreed
He is now at the point that after each awful home run call, you have to wait 20 seconds to confirm that it was actually a home run and not a medium pop-fly.
I'm not looking for too much from these announcers. Don't have to split the atom or anything. I subscribe to the less is more approach which sterling obviously does not believe in but he's not that bad. Waldman's voice is brutal but they do have decent chemstry. They are really more like a talk show than a baseball broadcast. I know fans get on them and they are easy targets but Sterling and waldman do bring some good insight. They know baseball...

Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. He actually used to be a Yankee announcer back in the 1980s. If you want to watch an amazing game, I contacted the guy who runs this youtube channel and requested this Yankees/Blue Jays game back in 1987 and he was able to dig it up. The Yankees won 15-14 in a game which featured grand slams hit by both Mattingly and Winfield. And Ron Kittle hit an inside the park home run (oh yes, that did happen). Anyway, Hawk Harrelson was one of the announcers on Sportschannel for this game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0zmvO9v0iI - ( New Window )

When I'm listening to a game on the radio, I'm depending on the radio announcers to actually tell me what's going on in the game. On a routine basis Sterling screws up calls. He also won't shut up long enough to actually tell you the score if you're just tuning in.

Bingo! It's torture listening to him call a game. Takes you at least 10 seconds to determine if its a foul out behind home plate or a home run. Then when he glaring makes a bad call, he spend next 3 minutes or so making excuses as to why he announced the play wrong..with his side kick Susan chiming in. And yes, if you just tune in to a game, after a half hour or so you have no idea what inning it is, nor score norcetc because of him going on and on about a story unrelated to the game. It's torture
I actually stopped listening to the Yankees on the radio because I can't stand Sterling and Waldman. I don't even pull for the Mets, but sometimes I'll listen to their games just to remember how much I like baseball on the radio. Its a real shame that Waldman is even doing play by play / color commentary because she's clearly inept at the craft. Sterling is just a ridiculous checactur of himself.

I remember that game well. Yanks built a big lead (11 to like 3 or 4), then went down 14-11 before Winfield hit his slam to retake the lead late. I thought that win was just another sign we were destined for the playoffs. Instead it just pointed out how shitty our pitching was.
are absolutely horrible. It's the only area Mets fans have a huge advantage. If I had to watch the Mets' product and listen to the Yankees announcers, I would have quit the game a long time ago.

Csonka -- I actually think Ken Singleton is outstanding when I get the chance to catch a YES broadcast on the MLB Channel.

Agreed Nick..I actually look at it as Sterling and Waldman are so bad they are good if that makes any sense..
Sterling does that a lot on ARod homers
Sadly that is true. I couldn't cheer for the White Sox for that reason alone.
