NFT: How to cut a snippet from a 3gb .mov file on Windows?

are there any free or cheap programs out there for Windows users. I have a big file on a disc that I'd like to cut up some one minute clips to send to friends. I have no real technical skills so the more bare bones the better.

download a codec pack like klite and open it in Windows

Movie maker and start a new project, add the video to the timeline and limit the video to the one minute clip you want and publish it.
