Episode this season. I am still a little lost but it's gotten better as the season has progressed. It's difficult but I am trying to not compare it to last season.
everything else has been a low point. Just lots and lots of threads (like the Stan thing last night) that feel really out of context because you barely know who they are even referencing. Almost all of them revolve around the VV side of the story, which falls flat every time, but even a lot of the clues in the investigation part of the story fall into that category as well.
Agree on CF - some may not have liked it, but I loved his booze/coke binge scene, probably bc I did that many times in the old days, the range of emotions brought me back
When I saw the intro with the ever-popular V,N,AC for Violence, Nudity and Adult Content....I was hoping we'd finally get a glimpse of Rach's goods. Imagine my disappointment when it was only background Hooters and not much of them.
Only 2 Episodes left. How will they wrap it up ??
I predict Vince dies next week. And Colin gets it in the Final.
Blake, Vince Vaughn's guy who is involved with the women at the parties, I predict he is the guy who gave the information about the guy who raped Farrell's wife and got him killed, and I also predict it was actually he who raped Farrell's wife.
He has the hair color to be the kid's real father.

But doesn't that get into faking/framing dna evidence?
Easier story is she had an affair with the red-headed guy.

maybe. I shouldn't try to make predictions with this show.
I feel it started showing how all of the different storylines are connected and tie together which was something I was struggling with over the first few episodes.
I think the mistake this season made was that they just piled too much into the first few episodes. No one knew what they were really following or what to focus on. It was like.. "wait.. am I following this plot line or... does this one matter or was it just some minute detail?" etc.
It's moving along now, though. Last night, for really the first time, I felt like I didn't have to pause and think about how something that happened had anything to do with something else. I just kind of understood what was happening and who was who and was able to enjoy it.
If I hadn't seen the first season. It really is an entirely different show and it's probably unfair that it suffers because of the comparison between the first season and second but it does.
As a stand alone it really isn't so bad. My wife didn't watch season one but is watching this season and is enjoying it much more than I am.
RE: RE: I just got tired of watching season 2 episodes
Nearly every recap and review I read spends more time on their treatment of women as if the female characters actually existed. The critiques barely pay attention to the show other than through that filter.

Maybe last season. All secondary one dimensional characters.

I guess my question would be, does it matter? Maybe you just can have distaste for the character, like VV this year, but still enjoy the show?
One of the things that makes me roll my eyes over LOTR and the hobbit is forcing female characters who barely have any role in the book to have lots of screen time. It's not necessary in my opinion ( and I do like female characters in general). Do what the story calls for and portray as best as you can. But reviewers of true detective apparently feel differently since that's pretty much all the reviews are about each week.
I have to say that I'm not smart enough to understand everything in this show, so each week I read a ton, maybe 8-10 recaps by a different sources so others can tell me what I saw (and what it meant). I'd say nearly half of them each week mention treatment of women,
One went into a big harangue this morning about how Ani's flashback was gratuitous and trite because a strong woman just *has* to have some sort of sexual a use as a trigger. Then she went on to harangue GoT for rape scenes. And then there was a little bit on what happened on True Detective which I took as a sop to dummies like me.
My favorite from last night is that the very second Paul goes to the window, the two baddies talk about how they committed the theft of Vince Vaughn's money. And then they get called away and leave the most critical piece of evidence and most critical element of their top secret plan, the contract, laying on the desk.
And this Mexican gang seems more trouble than bargained for.
Pretty much agree on all fronts.
At least the story is finally progressing. But I feel so much less invested in this one - I really don't care who really killed this Casper fellow
Farrell is the man.

And Rachel MacAdams is still a smoke show

in the hope that there would be some improvement. It's just another complicated story done by people trying to be profound.

Ditto. I'm tired of the VV scenes, and his wife annoys me more than any character since Dana on Homeland.
Maybe last season. All secondary one dimensional characters.
