This past weekend I was in Boston for the first time since the Boston Marathon and little did I realize that my hotel at Copley Place was about two blocks from the bombing location.
As I was doing research trying to figure out exactly where the bombs went off, I came across at least 3 sites that call the bombing a hoax, replete with calls of actors playing the parts of the bombed.
All I can think is - What the fuck? I could see possibly if somebody was trying to theorize that it wasn't the Tsarnev brothers who did the act, but I really didn't think I'd see people claiming the act itslef was staged. Were people with bloody stumps hanging out in the alleys waiting to pop out? I mean, what the holy hell do people have go on in their brains to think something like that was faked?

That was unreal. The links and info people were posting were so far ahead of anything on tv. Listening to the scanners was nuts. Gun fire and bombs being tossed. So much information and misinformation. What I found interesting at the time were all of the normal calls the police deal with happening at the same time. I don't know what would comple someone to actively deny such an event happened.
Plus, there is the comfort that comes from having "figured it all out" and getting to look down at the "sheeple"

All are highly offensive, not only for obvious reasons (Sandy Hook), but because they implicitly impugn the character of hundreds of decent people who are apparently more than happy to lie about missiles hitting airliners, FEMA camps, and whatever else the government is covering up.

With all due respect to those who lost loved ones in 9/11 and at the Boston Marathon, but I think "Sandy Hook was fake" trumps both of those conspiracy theories as the most disgusting. It was just disgusting on so many different levels, especially since the real reason for the truthers (gun rights etc.) was so easy to pick up on. I think I'd punch someone if they told me Sandy Hook was fake.

I used to buy my wing sauce from a small business in Winchester, VA. Not a huge deal, I found it from a friend liked it, bought it online, spent a couple hundred dollars per year.

then I began learning more about him. he's a 9-11 truther, building 7 could not have gone down any way other than government controlled implosion.

Boston marathon was a false flag - NBC made the mistake of publishing a photo with the body parts and blood airbrushed out of the attach scene near the finish line - it's all the whack jobs need to believe it's a hoax.
he was also a holocaust denier - said based on the numbers reported and the camps reported there was no way they could have killed that many people in that period of time logistically.

and there's more, so I did some research and there are literally thousands of people like him that cling to holes, reporting inaccuracies, or theories and not facts to claims the media reports are not true and only the previously quoted "sheeple" believe them.
so I don't buy wing sauce or even interact with him any more. it's so tiring. everything is a government agenda.
I think i'd qualify it as a sickness (in my non-medical opinion) psychological at least.

Boston Bombing: live TV coverage and massive staged mayhem simply don't mix. Never say never, so to be charitable, I'd say a <1% chance of it being a conspiracy (in the wingnut sense of the word. technically, I think it was a conspiracy because more than one person was involved)

People don't like randomness; need to feel in control.
Explanation does not match preconceived ideas or beliefs. Why different groups of people will believe in different conspiracies.
People who believe in a conspiracy theory believe in more than one; Cognitive thinking, personality some paranoid or schizophrenic type traits.
Higher economic status & education less likely to believe, but still some pretty smart people believing in some dumb things.

I don't believe any conspiracy is possible when more than a few people have to keep their mouth shut but I don't instantly suspect someone who asks reasonable questions either.

We all are biased as such would be prone to believe in different conspiracies. But pending on how complex a conspiracy theory someone would adhere to imo has alot to do with other factors. Some of the conspiracies in order to be true would have to involve so many people and organizations. All facts presented are dismissed. It's obvious cognitive thinking skills in particular reasoning and logic come to play. Imo personality also a factor; suspicious vs trusting, stubborn vs open minded, need to seem clever, etc.

Sunday, when you ad the qualifier "to one extent or another", the view that oil is involved in our ME decisions is absolutely valid. Where the wild eyed conspiracy theorists come in is with the idea that going to Iraq was specifically to grab their oil. There were many reasons, but the underlying idea was to create stability (or at least remove an agent of instability)in that volatile region so there would be fewer supply interruptions or "shocks". And obviously they couldn't have been more wrong

Is all that really the conspiracy theory though? "Flow of oil" some might relate to, but I thought the tin foil conspiracy is that all our government officials are lackeys of Exxon or somesuch and its Exxon that sends us to wars at their behest.
