Brady destroying cell phone looks really bad. But phone records show that the NFL already had all the texts between Brady and Jasrtemeski.

With all the advisors Brady can employ, wouldn't he have been told that Texts can be accessed whether you destroy the phone or not? He probably destroyed the phone on his own, imo
If the nfl already had the text messages as Gary myers says, then don't you think that if there was anything damning, it would be in the wells report or in Goodell's statement?
situation could possibly think Brady had no idea or is innocent. It boggles my mind.
My thoughts exactly...as if the NFL went into this thing wanting to suspend their brightest star, c'mon. The NFL certainly has it's issues and the way the PSI measurements are taken is undoubtedly messed up but to suggest the Brady didn't have anything to do with this doesn't pass any sort of smell test whatsoever.

Do you think it might be possible that Brady has talked about it with other people?

Seems like the NFL still has some dirt to release if you didn't get the whole Brady destroyed his phone leak today yet.
If the nfl already had the text messages as Gary myers says, then don't you think that if there was anything damning, it would be in the wells report or in Goodell's statement?
You would think..So little of this makes sense, including Brady's seemingly silly pride..
But destroying one's cellphone immediately after being requested for an investigation into wrong doing is enough circumstantial evidence to prove obstruction of investigation which is also one of the big reason laid out in his suspension.
How does Brady get around that issue in court if in the CBA is states that NFL players must cooperate with NFL investigations? He is a member of the union isn't he?
There is cooperating with an ongoing investigation and turning over any cell phone information. I am not a lawyer and I am not at all familiar with what is or isn't required of a player under the cba. We will find out soon enough
He isn't going to convince anyone that doesn't live in and around Boston he's innocent. So what's the point. You did it. Own it. Move on with the rest of your HOF career. The whole thing is stupid.
All he had to do at the very beginning was say. Yeah I ask my equipment guys to set the ball pressure at the low end of the accepted spectrum. It's on me. Result???? $50K fine. Case closed.

Brady wasn't aware that they had those guy texts at the time his phone was requested. He claim that he didn't have any relationship with those guys as well. That's why they knew he was lying. He claim the reason why he didn't want to show the phone was because of pics of his wife or something like that. They even gave him a chance to privately remove those images and steamy texts. He said no.
The NFL moved first, but, as expected, it looks like theyll have company in going to federal court in the wake of Commissioner Roger Goodells decision to uphold Patriots quarterback Tom Bradys suspension.
Jim Trotter of ESPN reports that Brady has authorized the NFLPA to go to federal court in an attempt to overturn the suspension.
There arent any other details about the filing, including whether or not the union will seek an injunction that would allow Brady to play while the case is being heard. If Brady does get an injunction and ultimately loses the case, he would have to serve the suspension later in the season or even in the playoffs should the Patriots advance that far this season. If he doesnt go for the injunction, hed serve the suspension while trying to recoup the salary hed lose while out for four games.
With the NFL filing in Manhattan, well also be keeping an eye out for where the NFLPA files their action. Minnesota has been the preferred location because Judge David Dotys rulings have been favorable in the past and the NFLs desire to avoid that venue will likely add to the legal proceedings that will unfold in the coming weeks and months.

No but given the disparity between how much was lost and the fact that environmental conditions for both sets of balls(heh) were identical, it's pretty obvious there was tampering. The balls were tampered with, just accept it already.
There is cooperating with an ongoing investigation and turning over any cell phone information. I am not a lawyer and I am not at all familiar with what is or isn't required of a player under the cba. We will find out soon enough
He did have to turn over his phone they asked to see it. Also, I wouldn't think people confuse what a government agent is allowed to do to you vs what an employer is allowed to do an employee. This could be cleared up by checking whether he signed and agreed to his NFL contract.
Then why did Brady destroy his phone AFTER the league asked to investigate it? If the league screwed up, he would've been happy to clear his name by providing the phone and answering the league's questions. Instead he tried to cover it up and got burned.
The nfl and Goodell screwed this up from the very beginning. It will be the nfl with egg on their face when all is said and done. The game officials did not handle the balls properly and they had 2 gauges that gave 2 different readings plus they did not check all of the balls from both teams and I can go on and on with what a joke this whole thing has been.
The nfl has lost every time their rulings have been appealed.

Let me guess, you believe the patriots guy is called the deflator because he's trying to lose weight.
to play at Dallas, fuck it, already. How about the Giants just take care of business in the division for a change and not have to worry about some other team doing it for them? Just saying, it would be nice to remember how that feels.
and in the course of the evening I fell into a conversation with a security guard. In the course of our conversation I revealed that I was a Giants fan but said I was hoping the suspension would be reduced. The better for the Pats to beat the Cowboys, blah-blah-blah.
Out of the blue, the guy said, "I'm tellinya, Brady didn't know a THING about all that deflating stuff." He was adamant - there was no WAY Brady had anything to do with it. The guys were doing it by themselves, he said.
I bit my tongue, but it's astonishing how Pats fans are in such denial about it.
were using under-inflated balls--they were. The discussion is along the lines of whether or not Brady was covering up any knowledge of it, and not cooperating with the investigation. Also, what should the appropriate punishment be.
There is some real disparity of opinions on the punishment. IMO, you could make a good case that some games were won due to the advantages gained from the better grip and if that is agreed upon, 4 game suspension is appropriate.

Randy I agree, deliberate obstruction of investigation. Lying through his teeth at this point - and you have to wonder why and how we got to this point.

about a month ago - his suspension was being disussed on the "Sports Reporters". To a man - they all said it would be reduced to 2 games and most felt that he shouldn't even have gotten that. Now the FULL 4 games ... That was an expensive cell phone Tom.
the day after the game with the personnel who handled the balls ... a request was made by Wells for the texts ... Brady refused and eventually Brady destroyed his cell phone ...
The bottom line is that if anyone on BBI was being investigated by your employer of behavior that discredited your company - and if you refused to cooperate (or worse, destroyed evidence), you'd be fired so fast it would make your head spin. It's a fucking disgrace that the NFL chose to allow Brady to give them the finger. He should have been fired just like you or me. I don't like people who think they are better than everyone else and that they are above the rules. I like it even less when they're proven right. Fuck him. He's a piece of garbage.
but this is not a criminal or even civil investigation, Brady had no obligation to turn over his personal cell phone.
by not doing it, and even worse by destroying it, he appeared to be uncooperative and suspicious
While an employer cannot force an employee to cooperate with an investigation into the employee - every employer on earth would fire that employee within seconds of his refusal. Employers have the right to fire an employee for no reason at all. They clearly have the right to fire an employee (and do all the time) for the employee's refusal to cooperate with an investigation.
So yes, you as an employee don't have to cooperate with your employer. But if you refuse, you can rest assured you will be shown the door within 30 seconds of your refusal. Absent negotiated contract provisions, due process and equal protection do not apply in private settings involving employer/employee relations and the employment in most circumstances is "at will". It is my understanding that Goodell had every right - and the power - to tell Brady he's done forever in the NFL for his refusal to comply with the request to turn over the many texts he had with the equipment guys. And it is frankly outrageous that the NFL would tolerate being told "fuck off" by Brady. Who the fuck does he think he is?
BUT, it's the rule and whether he broke the rule is open to question..That he failed, by CBA edict, to fully cooperate is punishable and he hot what he deserved..That he believes his shit doesn't smell, that he's above it all, makes me ecstatic that his great HOF career will have a PR blemish as small as that might be..
Was it worth it you moron? A simple, "Ooops, guilty as charged, I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention to circumvent the rule. I didn't think having a more comfortable grip was a big deal..Again, sorry."
"We're only going to score 17 points? Heh, heh, heh, Ok.." Smug bastard
They have his phone records which establish many calls and texts to the equipment guys the day after the game. The league (through Wells) made a formal request to see the texts. Brady told him to fuck off.
Supposedly he then destroyed his phone. But whether he did or didn't is beside the point. His refusal to cooperate with an investigation that involves the integrity of the game warrants immediate and permanent dismissal in my book.

he will be punished and should be, but comparing traditional employers to the NFL is a bad comparison.

Brady was suspended for violating the integrity of the game, which is nebulous, but it wasn't for not giving the league his personal cell phone which as I said, he has no obligation to do.

I still think it should have been reduced to 3, with the 3 games being games the other AFC East teams play at NE.
Glad that Mr "We're only going to score 17 points?" is getting suspended though.

If only that were true.
Depending on how soon you get the phone after they were deleted, they theoretically can be reconstructed.
the timing of this is very questionable though.
