San Diego Padres & #8207;@Padres 4m4 minutes ago
First game of the road trip kicks off this afternoon as James Shields & the Padres take on the Mets. Today's lineup:
homerun was the furthest hit homerun ever by a Met at Citified tonight. Pretty kewl.
I have said this a few times this season. IMO as Duda goes so goes this Mets team.
Nice to see him finally breaking out of his slump.
Hopefully the new additions allowed Duda to relax a little and be himself again.
I think you're right about that. Duda seems to have a pretty timid personality. I think he was pitting too much pressure on himself when the team wasn't scoring and he didn't handle it well. I think having a few fresh and more proven guys around will help.
So you agree we could cut down on 70% if we stop discussing the same arguments about ownership, cheapness, the manager, and trade rumors made up by bad writers. So we agree
This group has a run rate of about 2% substance in which they repeat and take bows for the same material. The 98% are just reciting a highlight or tweet as it happens.
It's mostly just one person who never actually adds anything of substance but feels inclined to insult everyone else at the end of 90% of his posts.
Most of us have learned to just ignore it.
Is it really insulting to a grown man to have someone disagree with your opinion that you publically post on a board intended to start conversation? When exactly did you feel the burn of being insulted by anything I said?
You may be a little sensitive if you were insulted because I didn't agree that they will have somehow failed at the deadline if they can't get a good bat without giving away a good young player.
Also what makes you think anyone provides "substance" just because they comment a thousand times a day and say the same things every time ?
My post had absolutely nothing to do with you. Carry on.
The Cubs aren't that good, with no strong starting pitching.. They might be charlatans. However, the Giants are for real and the Mets have to either catch them or the Nationals.
Wonder what the Astros would take for Joe Thatcher Â

If we can just get some consistency with the offense, I truly feel like we can beat anyone.
The Mets have lost 18 out of the last 21 one run games against the Nats. Sure, it's a really crappy stat. BUT, it also tells me that we are right in all of these games. We are so close and with our pitching we can stop anyone. It's really up to the offense now.
our schedule gets real soft. I think we are going to beef on some wins in August and go into September guns blazing.
Yep, hopefully Metz comes back in September to take the other guys' innings and get us some key wins for the home stretch. We'll need Colon to be the man again.
But being met fans, how do you not have the feeling like no matter what happens there's going to be some awful gut punch right as we least expect it?
Let's just say I'm being cautiously optimistic about what this team can do
Cuddyer isn't even healthy and is on the DL and the other alternatives are terrible. This shouldn't even be a discussion. Conforto is ready to be here and needs to play every day.
Good professional ABs, good looking swing, hitting ball well. Not looking overmatched or overwhelmed once since being called up. I'd consider it a huge plus that he's checked off every single box. Pleasant surprise.

Yeah we got a nice one today in the form of Mejia. Luckily Sandy had just acquired a setup man.
But the Giants only down 3 heading into the 8th. Hopefully they can hang on.
Still can't get over how good Thor pitched tonight. He was dominating. This pitching staff is insane. Add 1 more bat Sandy. Ideally one of the previously mentioned gentleman.
RE: If you yank Conforto, who are you putting in LF? Â

A bat that's traded for perhaps or a Kelly Johnson/Cuddyer platoon.
Conforto looks nowhere near overmatched and belongs here. He has nothing left to gain by hitting .320 in Bing or LV. He's got a great eye, a nice balanced, level swing.. he looks like a pro hitter to me. Sending him down only makes the team worse going forward and I suspect the Mets are aware of that and won't be doing so.
Although Bruce (if they got him) and Granderson might both be better than Conforto this year so if its a win now season and you don't want to play Granderson in centerfield it might be worth it.

He should be back to LV soon, after passing through waivers again.

Disregard...
1 game back
Bases loaded, 1 out for the Nats, but it looks like the Marlins closer was about to induce a double play to end the game!
The teams entire attitude feels so different.
THIS! ^^^^^

They are primed for the taking this weekend at Citifield! We have our top three starters going against them too
Two handed level swing, both hit the high ball for power rather than low , very balanced, good eye, etc

Looks like a professional hitter.

Im surprised and a bit confused about this? He did pass through waivers again or did he just start a rehab assignment?
How sweet would be to START the Nats series already in first or tied? Lets sweep these Maxi Pads.

That would be sweet!
This is a fun time to be a fan.

They are 17-32, on the road, however.

but his .254 average is close to Syndergaard's 2.74 ERA. Nic Pederson seems like an all or nothing hitter. 2 months is long time
If Noah finishes strong, there are 5 guys they can choose from.
Joc
Bryant
Noah
Heston
Franco
Whats funny is the bottom 3 may have been better than the first two annointed ones.
Throw Correa in the top 5 discussion too.

Brewers up early on the Giants 1-0, 1st inning.
Cuddyer in a couple weeks will upgrade Cambell on the bench.
September hopefully we get Matz, Wright, and Blevins. That would be a steady does of additions from now until the playoffs.
Still hoping for one more bat though.

Not saying he shouldn't but I wonder if Collins puts Cuddyer on the bench.
Yeah it already happened. Clippard took Mejia's spot and Niese took Verretts.

Im pretty positive Cuddyer will be used in a platoon role/bench role only barring some insane hot streak.
Aside from the 4 hit game, he has no hits in 3 other games played…

It's 12 at bats. Let him play.
