San Diego Padres & #8207;@Padres 4m4 minutes ago
First game of the road trip kicks off this afternoon as James Shields & the Padres take on the Mets. Today's lineup:
This was expected. The dude needed to hit .300 to force TC to play him. It is unfortunate since he was having a good July.
At this point either trade him or send him down to build his trading value. He's always been TCs whipping boy so just get him out of here. I still believe he'll be a very good player, but it just won't be with the mets.
an opportunity. Which could happen if Wright encounters a longer term setback or if 2B is an open competition in ST next year. Doubt he has much trade value, but if he's the final piece of a deal for a bigger player so be it. I believe in his bat and wish he would have gotten a better chance at locking down a position (2B) without being moved around, but to be fair he did get a full half season playing every day and outside of an early power surge he just did not hit enough.
it wouldn't shock me if Tejada slumps and he gets another chance at some point, but he needs to start producing with the bat, his current line simply doesn't cut it (358 PA's - .249 / .281 / .379 - 85 wRC+).
24 XBH's isn't bad and I guess devil's advocate argument is that he was surrounded by quite possibly the worst lineup this team has ever rolled out for the past couple months.
I'm not surprised. I knew Flores was going to the bench if Wright came back or we acquired a 3B. No way he was going back to SS.
.
Neither am I. I know that Tejada is playing well but we still know what he is. And I'm pissed that this lazy sob has an eternal "get out of jail free" card with this org while one of the hardest working guys in Flores gets the shaft. I know, I know...he could have taken the job and ran with it. But I will never like that toad-faced f@cker Tejada and will wait for the clock to strike 12 with him. He'll turn back into a pumpkin sooner or later.

Sounds like Travis d'Arnaud could and probably will return to the #Mets this weekend against the Nationals.
He had plenty of opportunity to take hold of a spot and didn't. Now he needs to stay prepared and come up with some big hits when called upon to pinch hit.

I know. I clearly said that he had the opportunity to grab the position (and didn't) but he also had the shortest leash out of anybody. The disparity between Flores and Tejada isn't large and we're pretty much seeing Tejadas ceiling right now. We know what he is but, I agree, they weren't going to put Flores back at SS as long as Tejada is hitting higher than .180. I just dislike poor players that waste their opportunities only to get a million chances over hard workers that are most likely better. But that's my problem, not yours lol.
I'm still trying to think of the last Met position player
Was the last resort after they trotted out every option available to them at 3rd after Wright went down. It wasn't like the Mets were itching to get him back in there either. The reality is this season Flores was given much more of an opportunity than Tejada had but difference is that Tejada took more advantage of it when the opportunity came.
I'm not even arguing that Flores SHOULD go back to SS. It's just that I said from the beginning that Tejada was going to be the SS regardless of who was at 3B. And that's exactly how it played out.
I'm not surprised. I knew Flores was going to the bench if Wright came back or we acquired a 3B. No way he was going back to SS.

This is pretty much how I feel too. They did everything but try to give Tejada another chance but every other option failed. And I can't criticize going with Tejada now that he's playing well. As long as he keeps hitting, I don't have a problem with it

He's better than people are giving him credit for. Somehow he's gone from "overrated" to underrated 2.82 FIP last 3 seasons, for comparisons sake Clippard 3.42

To be fair, Clippard has a fairly extensive history of outperforming his FIP. Career ERA- of 72 vs. FIP- of 93.
But I agree with the general point - Papelbon's reputation has fallen as the team around him has gotten progressively worse, but he's still a very effective reliever. Not one of the best relievers in baseball, but certainly an above-average one who would be a significant addition to any bullpen in baseball.
No one said he isn't a good pitcher and an upgrade
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
Papelbon will be a Nat. He's been told he will close, with drew storen demoted to set-up role despite brilliant season.
What would you suggest?
If I were the Nats? If I was that desperate for Paplebon I would have paid his full option and told him the best man pitches.
Who says the Nats are desperate besides you? They obtained a veteran closer who has pitched in World Series with the Sox to shorten games to seven innings. This isn't indecisive Little League where anybody could pitch and any moment. You make a decision at the MLB level and that's what the Nats did. They did it the right way.
Paplebon's numbers are all pretty similar or worse, just think it's kind of odd to outright demote a guy pitching on an all star level for a guy who isn't definitively better.
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS
Nats bringing in papelbon is clubhouse risk. Putting aside pap's persona, demoting superb storen a 3rd time may not end well.
Mejia now ineligible for NEXT YEARS postseason as well. Just cut him. What a disgrace.
Yeah he's done here. Biggest loss is him as a trade asset now or in offseason. Verrett, Robles, Goeddel, etc. have been good enough to make up his regular season innings and he was already ineligible for PS. I can't believe he's that dumb though. To get caught with the exact same stuff a 2nd time.
MLB called the Mets yesterday(Monday) to let them know about the ban to Mejia so the Clippard deal was not reactionary. The trade was made before the news.
in talks with just about everyone. I don't think they were hanging their hats on a Wright return.
Id like another move but I don't know the context of whats being asked. I can't make Sandy pull blood from a stone. If everyone is still asking for the moon on some of these guys I trust Sandy would decide which is most prudent for the team at this time. Its pretty clear he's willing to part with some pretty substantial prospects so if something didn't materialize it probably wasn't worth it IMO.
If the ask on Gomez, Bruce, Parra, Cespedes is just too high.. fine. Then absolute WORST case, go grab Marlon Byrd. I'd be slightly disappointed if that's the best we could do but it'd be better than nothing and it'd give us better depth in the OF after we just did the same for the IF.
It's great news I just hope the timing isn't intentional (aka, "Wright is on the way back, another bat is no longer necessary")
Wouldn't you logically assume that the team would need and want to know the status of wright and use that knowledge to alter and decide moves they may make? I mean why would they say he is coming back and then lie about that to appease some odd portion of the fanbase if they are unable to make a decision about player adds? I don't get it

I sort of agree but we have sort of a log jam in CO now. That logic made perfect sense before Conforto was called up and Kelly Johnson was aquired(played pretty much CO with the Braves) Is Byrd even better than those two?? Im not sure.

I didn't say they were "lying" but teams absolutely take into account when they release certain information. PR is a real thing.
Wright returning or not should have no bearing on the fact that we can add an OF bat and make the team better. We aren't going to ever have any "definitive" answer on Wright because the nature of his condition makes everything incredibly unpredictable. Even if he does come back in 3-4 weeks, he could well play in 2 games and wind up shelved again.
They have to treat him like a complete bonus this year. Banking on anything more than that from him would be terribly miscalculated.
makes me think there are still steroids in the game with better masking agents, ect. How the hell would a player take the same steroids he just got banned from within 3 weeks of getting back unless he thought he could beat it?
Makes no sense.
That's the problem, a 2nd/3rd tier OFer only helps if he can play CF
is Conforto, Kirk, and Granderson. The bench is Johnson, Lagares, and soon Cuddyer as well.
The only player that does't belong is possibly Kirk if you can upgrade CF but as far as depth and 4th and 5th options I think we are good.
Just the way I look at it now.
I wouldn't rely on anything at all from Cuddyer the rest of the way. CF is 100% upgradeable. And it's not like we have so many studs in the CO spots that we just cannot afford to add someone. If the opportunity presents itself it would still be a good idea.
I would agree if you are referring to Upton or Cespedes or Bruce but a Byrd isn't that big of an upgrade in a corner anymore. And I still absolutely think Cuddyer will be a nice platoon player/bench piece. He still has hit 7 homeruns. Cuddyer will be what Mayberry was supposed to be on steroids and Im fine with him in that role. Still a huge disappointment overall but also still a huge upgrade over Mayberry/Cambell as far as the bench.
RE: That's the problem, a 2nd/3rd tier OFer only helps if he can play CF
Forget Cuddyer. Use him as a backup 1B. And the guy gets hurt so often that he may not even make it back for the long haul.
I'm not even advocating we sign Byrd as much as I'm saying it would be better than just doing nothing. I obviously want one of the other guys.. especially one who can man CF.
It's going to be hard for me to accept Uribe, Johnson and Clippard as "the moves". The Nats have Rendon, Zimmerman and Werth back now and just got better in the pen.. we aren't going to leapfrog them unless we add one more piece. TdA will help. Can he stay healthy? Who knows. Anything we get from DW is a bonus. Can't expect anything from him.

I'm so pissed off at Mejia suspension. He has undermined the team again and completely negated the Tyler Clippard trade. Cut his ass now!!!

Yeah, but ...
Ken Davidoff
Just for the record, Jenrry Mejia is still eligible for the 2016 postseason. #Mets (probably not in 2016, though.)
Don't get me wrong. I like Byrd, but adding him and I guess cutting Kirk? Demoting Conforto? Doesn't make a lot of sense. CF is a bigger priority IMO unless you are bringing a game changer in which case you then MAKE it work.

The Mets received some more encouraging news on the injury front on Tuesday.
Steven Matz has been shutdown for nearly three weeks since the discovery or a torn lay muscle in his left side.
Matz visited with team doctors during Mondays off-day, and Sandy Alderson said the tear has improved, although he will undergo another examination next week before determining the next step.
Matz has been on the 15-day disabled list since July 10, retroactive to July 6. There is still no timetable for Matz to begin a throwing program.
they made two good moves and in order to make trades they have to make sense and benefit both sides....so if they can't get another bat it doesn't mean they didn't seek a player but couldn't work out a deal. Wouldn't you much rather they not part with certain guys than just give up a lot for a possible rental? They've shown that they are not averse to making moves so if they can't find a match does that automatically make them "wrong" somehow ? I don't agree with that at all...only make a move if it's the right move
Well of course they aren't averse to making moves...
...neither one of these moves have cost the front office a dime. What team would be in that situation?
The first 2 moves were good ones. But these guys are all rentals too. So you're telling the fans you're picking these guys up because you think you can make the postseason this year otherwise there's no reason to make them.
Problem is, it's still not going to be enough. And not all of the available players are rentals. Neither Bruce or Gomez would be rental players.
plus getting TDA, Matz, and hopefully Wright back will be enough to give us a shot this year which is what I wanted.... also while maintaining the kids for 2016-2018. That said, I still am holding out hope that we acquire somebody like Parra.
NEW YORK -- The New York Mets were engaged in trade talks concerning Troy Tulowitzki, Mets GM Sandy Alderson said Tuesday.
Tulowitzki, the slugging but injury-prone shortstop in the second year of a seven-year, $132 million contract, was dealt by the Colorado Rockies to the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday.
"Our conversations [with the Rockies regarding Tulowitzki] involved more than an inquiry on our part, it went further than that," Alderson said. "But beyond that I just cant comment."
The GM admitted he was "a little surprised" when he learned of the Tulowitzki trade. But the Mets may still add another hitter before the July 31 trade deadline.
"Were still talking [to other teams]," Alderson said. "Ive been hesitant to make predictions in the past, and will continue to be hesitant to do so. Theres still a few days to go. Well continue to talk, and well see where it takes us."
I wanted to like Tejada. he had a really good season for a 22 year old.
but he was publicly trashed by the FO in 2013 for coming in out of shape and not working hard and since then he's been a whipping boy (and he's deserved it), but you have to admit he's playing well lately.
and Ive bashed him as much as anyone. Im not the type to cut my nose to spite my face however. I still have my doubts but as long as he keeps hitting and doesn't go into one of his infamous "Tejada slumps" he can keep playing SS for a while. Don't have an issue with it.
These 4 guys have been among the most impressive rookie pitchers
How great it would be for both he and the Mets if he turns around his career and we see more of what we saw his first couple of seasons from him from here on out.
He was very young and was following a star in Reyes, he very well maybe took it all for granted. I don't think he will ever take it for granted again.

Yeah me too. Times were rough enough back then that I actually really was excited about him and thought he could be a really good SS. Things have changed a bit since but he's still very young.
when they made the Dickey trade. It actually happened
I thought most expectation at the time of the trade was for TDA and Thor was the extra player.
No. Syndergaard was a main component. TDA was already agreed. Sandy was insisting on Syndergaard. Blue Jays tried to get Sandy to go for other players and Sandy stayed stead fast and said he wanted Syndergaard. Beccerra was the third upside prospect. I still can't believe that trade actually.
but I just don't like the nickname Thor. But then I am not one to call players by nicknames that often anyway.
Its just so perfect though. lol. 6'7 tall long haired blonde Scandinavian who's name even sounds like Asgard AND he throws a hammer? Sorry. He's Thor. lol.
deserves some real credit for the success in developing these young arms.
This type of percentage of success has got to be off the charts.
Frank Viola has to be one, but there us likely a few minor league pitching coaches doing a fine job.
Definitely - it's truly astonishing. Each of these guys has been ranked behind 5-10 other pitchers in the minors and yet they get to the majors and dominate. I'm sure it's some combination of factors but all involved deserve credit.
What a game to be at. One of the things I miss the most about leaving NY is being able to go to a lot of games other than the occasional away game I travel to.
Your consistency with Tejada is impressive. What's he got, five errors now? He tried to make a play and it didn't work, not that big a deal.
Hey, I'm fully aware that Tejada has been playing a better SS than Flores had been. That doesn't mean he's exempt from being called out on a boneheaded play. Or does that only apply to the other guy that used to play there?

Flores fell down trying to turn a routine double play. No one called him an idiot.
Man your hate for Tejada is over the top. Odd from the guy who wigged out whenever anyone pointed out a poor play by Flores.
He started a nice double play that got them out of the jam and the inning so yes he redeemed himself.
Sorry Steve, just being snarky. And maybe it is over the top. But Flores couldn't take a shit with being ridiculed. Now Tejada make a boneheaded play and it's "good try" and then praise him for fielding the most routine ground ball there is? Man, the double standard is astounding. Maybe I'm just making a point. Sorry, Tejada is a bum and I don't think I'll ever warm up to him. Sorry it bugs you.

It sure comes across that when it comes to Tejada and Flores you are incapable of being objective and tend to read far too much into most casual comments made about either.
He's got to come in and shut the door tonight. I also think the sooner he gets out there and gets a save in the books, the quicker he can get over the blown saves.
I was thinking Adam Dunn, but same difference. However, it is + good CF defense. That's massively more valuable, obviously. Adam Dunn with CF defense is a franchise player.

steve, I can understand why you think that way but that's not true. No, I don't like Tejada, but I also know he's been an adequate fielder at SS. I'm obviously a big Flores supporter and would have like to see him get more of a chance at second since he was having a very good July.
But I find it odd that were perfectly fine with this place exploding every time Flores stepped in the wrong direction yet you have an issue with me acting the same way towards Tejada.
Don't want this to become a Flores/Tejada thing, but praising Tejada for fielding a routine ground ball is like praising a 15 year old for not wetting the bed.

Yeah, it's just the free swinging all or nothing approach. He's obviously a much better fielder.
you have an issue with me acting the same way towards Tejada.
I don't have any issue with you complaining if Tejada makes a mistake. If you look back I didn't respond to that at all.
I only responded to your mocking my comment that he redeemed himself by helping turn the double play to get out of the inning.
You act like I said he made some unreal catch or something, it was an in game comment because I was happy they got out of it and I am sure he was happy to have the chance to help turn the double play to erase his error. You just have to read so much into every comment.

Yeah that about sums it up.
I'd like the Mets to succeed, not really that hung up on one player vs another. It doesn't make sense.

You may be a little sensitive if you were insulted because I didn't agree that they will have somehow failed at the deadline if they can't get a good bat without giving away a good young player.
Also what makes you think anyone provides "substance" just because they comment a thousand times a day and say the same things every time ?
So you agree we could cut down on 70% if we stop discussing the same arguments about ownership, cheapness, the manager, and trade rumors made up by bad writers. So we agree

Seth, I'm almost 100% positive he wasn't referring to you.
homerun was the furthest hit homerun ever by a Met at Citified tonight. Pretty kewl.
I have said this a few times this season. IMO as Duda goes so goes this Mets team.
Nice to see him finally breaking out of his slump.
Hopefully the new additions allowed Duda to relax a little and be himself again.
I think you're right about that. Duda seems to have a pretty timid personality. I think he was pitting too much pressure on himself when the team wasn't scoring and he didn't handle it well. I think having a few fresh and more proven guys around will help.
So you agree we could cut down on 70% if we stop discussing the same arguments about ownership, cheapness, the manager, and trade rumors made up by bad writers. So we agree
This group has a run rate of about 2% substance in which they repeat and take bows for the same material. The 98% are just reciting a highlight or tweet as it happens.

My post had absolutely nothing to do with you. Carry on.
The Cubs aren't that good, with no strong starting pitching.. They might be charlatans. However, the Giants are for real and the Mets have to either catch them or the Nationals.
Wonder what the Astros would take for Joe Thatcher
The Cubs aren't that good, with no strong starting pitching.. They might be charlatans. However, the Giants are for real and the Mets have to either catch them or the Nationals.
If we can just get some consistency with the offense, I truly feel like we can beat anyone.
The Mets have lost 18 out of the last 21 one run games against the Nats. Sure, it's a really crappy stat. BUT, it also tells me that we are right in all of these games. We are so close and with our pitching we can stop anyone. It's really up to the offense now.
our schedule gets real soft. I think we are going to beef on some wins in August and go into September guns blazing.
Yep, hopefully Metz comes back in September to take the other guys' innings and get us some key wins for the home stretch. We'll need Colon to be the man again.
But being met fans, how do you not have the feeling like no matter what happens there's going to be some awful gut punch right as we least expect it?
Let's just say I'm being cautiously optimistic about what this team can do
Cuddyer isn't even healthy and is on the DL and the other alternatives are terrible. This shouldn't even be a discussion. Conforto is ready to be here and needs to play every day.
Good professional ABs, good looking swing, hitting ball well. Not looking overmatched or overwhelmed once since being called up. I'd consider it a huge plus that he's checked off every single box. Pleasant surprise.

Yeah we got a nice one today in the form of Mejia. Luckily Sandy had just acquired a setup man.
But the Giants only down 3 heading into the 8th. Hopefully they can hang on.
Still can't get over how good Thor pitched tonight. He was dominating. This pitching staff is insane. Add 1 more bat Sandy. Ideally one of the previously mentioned gentleman.
RE: If you yank Conforto, who are you putting in LF?
Cuddyer isn't even healthy and is on the DL and the other alternatives are terrible. This shouldn't even be a discussion. Conforto is ready to be here and needs to play every day.
A bat that's traded for perhaps or a Kelly Johnson/Cuddyer platoon.
Conforto looks nowhere near overmatched and belongs here. He has nothing left to gain by hitting .320 in Bing or LV. He's got a great eye, a nice balanced, level swing.. he looks like a pro hitter to me. Sending him down only makes the team worse going forward and I suspect the Mets are aware of that and won't be doing so.
Although Bruce (if they got him) and Granderson might both be better than Conforto this year so if its a win now season and you don't want to play Granderson in centerfield it might be worth it.
Jon Niese supposed to be back today too. So two roster moves expected.
Tuesday #Mets vs. #Padres:
Granderson - RF
Tejada - SS
Murphy - 2B
Duda - 1B
Uribe - 3B
Conforto - LF

Wilmer Flores has now sat all three days since the trade with Braves.
I though after a down May/June, Flores was having a very solid July and was batting over .290 this month.
If he doesn't mix into the plan post trade, I'd rather have him at AAA getting consistent ABs there.
At this point either trade him or send him down to build his trading value. He's always been TCs whipping boy so just get him out of here. I still believe he'll be a very good player, but it just won't be with the mets.

Jeurys Familia role unchanged. Clippard might close if Familia has worked three straight days. Plan to mix and match as far as setup men.
Terry Colins said David Wright had a very positive day of baseball activity. Hope to get into games after the next 7-8 days.
Once Mets depart for road trip after Nats weekend series, Terry Collins expects David Wright to go to St. Lucie to begin games.
Sounds like Travis d'Arnaud could and probably will return to the #Mets this weekend against the Nationals.
Terry Collins believes the addition of Tyler Clippard should end the multi-inning save chances for Jeurys Familia.
Terry Colins expects Travis d'Arnaud will catch today & tomorrow with Binghamton. With Mets playing noon Thursday, looks like Friday active.
Mets haven't announced roster moves yet, but plan for 2 pregame.

Meaning demotions etc. not trades.
I agree
David Wright on playing for the #Mets again this year: "Yeah. I don't think there's much of a question about that."
Zimmerman and Werth both in the Nationals lineup tonight. So is Rendon. Rendon and Werth play together for first time all year.
Quote:
I'm not surprised. I knew Flores was going to the bench if Wright came back or we acquired a 3B. No way he was going back to SS.

Neither am I. I know that Tejada is playing well but we still know what he is. And I'm pissed that this lazy sob has an eternal "get out of jail free" card with this org while one of the hardest working guys in Flores gets the shaft. #teamrollinsconvert?
This is pretty much how I feel too. They did everything but try to give Tejada another chance but every other option failed. And I can't criticize going with Tejada now that he's playing well. As long as he keeps hitting, I don't have a problem with it

NEVER!!!
Source: Under terms of trade agreement, if completed, Papelbon will close for #Nationals and be signed for 2016.
Indians changing their lineup. Changes are coming. This time of year that could mean a trade or it might not.
Papelbon will be a Nat. He's been told he will close, with drew storen demoted to set-up role despite brilliant season.

I guess the silver lining is he wasn't pitching in the playoffs anyway but man is this yet another blow.
And way to fuck over your teammates once again right when everything was coming together.
Nats bringing in papelbon is clubhouse risk. Putting aside pap's persona, demoting superb storen a 3rd time may not end well.
David Wright may be in minor league games next week.
Closers come and go IMO. If the move improves the team, so be it. It's like Storen has all this playoff experience or playoff success like Paps.

Yeah, he's supposed to start playing with St. Lucie in about a week.

I knew he was resuming baseball activities but playing in actual games in a week seems WAY earlier than we expected no? Either way. Great news.
The only player that does't belong is possibly Kirk if you can upgrade CF but as far as depth and 4th and 5th options I think we are good.
Just the way I look at it now.

Makes no sense.
With Parra you get defense and you cross your fingers this is a breakout year as opposed to a Xavier Nady-esque flash in the pan.
At this point adding a big bat is the only thing that could have a big impact. All of them just make the defensive alignment somewhat odd.

Just the way I look at it now.
I wouldn't rely on anything at all from Cuddyer the rest of the way. CF is 100% upgradeable. And it's not like we have so many studs in the CO spots that we just cannot afford to add someone. If the opportunity presents itself it would still be a good idea.

Yeah this is where I am kind of at. Parra still makes the most sense.

Kelly Johnson
wRC+ 113. And Kelly Johnson is on the bench.
Don't get me wrong. I like Byrd, but adding him and I guess cutting Kirk? Demoting Conforto? Doesn't make a lot of sense. CF is a bigger priority IMO unless you are bringing a game changer in which case you then MAKE it work.

Thats weird. I just saw he wasn't?
Steven Matz has been shutdown for nearly three weeks since the discovery or a torn lay muscle in his left side.
Matz visited with team doctors during Mondays off-day, and Sandy Alderson said the tear has improved, although he will undergo another examination next week before determining the next step.
Matz has been on the 15-day disabled list since July 10, retroactive to July 6. There is still no timetable for Matz to begin a throwing program.

Who the fuck would trade for a player JUST coming off an 80 game suspension??
Or just stopped responding to 12.
Most of us have learned to just ignore it.
Lol
but he was publicly trashed by the FO in 2013 for coming in out of shape and not working hard and since then he's been a whipping boy (and he's deserved it), but you have to admit he's playing well lately.
going to miss him
going to miss him
Wow.
He was very young and was following a star in Reyes, he very well maybe took it all for granted. I don't think he will ever take it for granted again.
I thought most expectation at the time of the trade was for TDA and Thor was the extra player.

Yeah me too. Times were rough enough back then that I actually really was excited about him and thought he could be a really good SS. Things have changed a bit since but he's still very young.

Definitely - it's truly astonishing. Each of these guys has been ranked behind 5-10 other pitchers in the minors and yet they get to the majors and dominate. I'm sure it's some combination of factors but all involved deserve credit.
Thanks for listening, Thor!
Are you at the game?
What a game to be at. One of the things I miss the most about leaving NY is being able to go to a lot of games other than the occasional away game I travel to.

Sorry Steve, just being snarky. And maybe it is over the top. But Flores couldn't take a shit with being ridiculed. It sure comes across that when it comes to Tejada and Flores you are incapable of being objective and tend to read far too much into most casual comments made about either.

Outside of the first few weeks when he struggled but still found ways to get on base via the walk he's been a consistent wRC+ of 115-120 all year.
It's actually refreshing to see
I was thinking Adam Dunn, but same difference.

I have said this a few times this season. IMO as Duda goes so goes this Mets team.
Nice to see him finally breaking out of his slump.

Is it really insulting to a grown man to have someone disagree with your opinion that you publically post on a board intended to start conversation? When exactly did you feel the burn of being insulted by anything I said?
You may be a little sensitive if you were insulted because I didn't agree that they will have somehow failed at the deadline if they can't get a good bat without giving away a good young player.
Also what makes you think anyone provides "substance" just because they comment a thousand times a day and say the same things every time ?

I think you're right about that. Duda seems to have a pretty timid personality. I think he was pitting too much pressure on himself when the team wasn't scoring and he didn't handle it well. I think having a few fresh and more proven guys around will help.

They are 17-32, on the road, however.

It's 12 at bats. Let him play.

Yeah we got a nice one today in the form of Mejia. Luckily Sandy had just acquired a setup man.
Still can't get over how good Thor pitched tonight. He was dominating. This pitching staff is insane. Add 1 more bat Sandy. Ideally one of the previously mentioned gentleman.
A bat that's traded for perhaps or a Kelly Johnson/Cuddyer platoon.
Although Bruce (if they got him) and Granderson might both be better than Conforto this year so if its a win now season and you don't want to play Granderson in centerfield it might be worth it.
