First game of the road trip kicks off this afternoon as James Shields & the Padres take on the Mets. Today's lineup:
but I just don't like the nickname Thor. But then I am not one to call players by nicknames that often anyway.
Its just so perfect though. lol. 6'7 tall long haired blonde Scandinavian who's name even sounds like Asgard AND he throws a hammer? Sorry. He's Thor. lol.
deserves some real credit for the success in developing these young arms.
This type of percentage of success has got to be off the charts.
Frank Viola has to be one, but there us likely a few minor league pitching coaches doing a fine job.
Definitely - it's truly astonishing. Each of these guys has been ranked behind 5-10 other pitchers in the minors and yet they get to the majors and dominate. I'm sure it's some combination of factors but all involved deserve credit.
What a game to be at. One of the things I miss the most about leaving NY is being able to go to a lot of games other than the occasional away game I travel to.
Your consistency with Tejada is impressive. What's he got, five errors now? He tried to make a play and it didn't work, not that big a deal.
Hey, I'm fully aware that Tejada has been playing a better SS than Flores had been. That doesn't mean he's exempt from being called out on a boneheaded play. Or does that only apply to the other guy that used to play there?

Flores fell down trying to turn a routine double play. No one called him an idiot.
Man your hate for Tejada is over the top. Odd from the guy who wigged out whenever anyone pointed out a poor play by Flores.
He started a nice double play that got them out of the jam and the inning so yes he redeemed himself.
Sorry Steve, just being snarky. And maybe it is over the top. But Flores couldn't take a shit with being ridiculed. Now Tejada make a boneheaded play and it's "good try" and then praise him for fielding the most routine ground ball there is? Man, the double standard is astounding. Maybe I'm just making a point. Sorry, Tejada is a bum and I don't think I'll ever warm up to him. Sorry it bugs you.
Michael Fulmer has a three-hit shutout through 7 innings with 11 strikeouts and no walks.
7IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 11K 1.86 ERA

Thanks for listening, Thor!
Are you at the game?

If Noah finishes strong, there are 5 guys they can choose from.
Joc
Bryant
Noah
Heston
Franco
Whats funny is the bottom 3 may have been better than the first two annointed ones.
