@AdamRubinESPN: Sandy Alderson wasn't specific -- not sure he knows -- whether Mejia's positive test was before or after activation from 1st suspension.
@AdamRubinESPN: Sandy Alderson received heads up on Monday from MLB about suspension. Trade for Clippard already was done.

You nailed it yesterday
yeah, I nailed it, LOL, your post provided just enough information for someone to guess.
pj, for those of us who didn't catch the exchange between you and Shecky, could I ask that you cut and paste, or summarize?
(By the way, we were up in Gloucester this w/e visiting friends, and my buddy said this winter totals rivaled 1978. I was thinking about the exchanges we had as you (and we down here) were continually digging out. By the way, how was Hawaii?)
thanks for asking, I had to bail on Hawaii, broke my foot in hockey and had surgery a couple weeks before the trip. next year is Maui and I like it better than the big Island anyway.
Yeah, we had snow up to the top of our street sign, I took a picture of my kids hanging on it, and then another one this summer when they couldn't touch obviously anywhere near it - puts it in perspective.

not being available for the playoffs than it does about Parnell. who knows.
yes, you nailed it. WTF is it with some of these guys? Was this a performance enhancer, or was he just getting high?
re. not making it to Hawaii cuz the old man broke his foot in a senior league hockey match: I bet the wife was thrilled, absolutely thrilled.
Are you still married? lol
My wife wasn't that upset, her parents were going to be watching our kids and the dog and they're older so we were worried about that, plus as much as I love Hawaii, it's a pain in the ass getting there, we've been 4 times, seen each island (except molokai and lenai I think those are all we've missed) and it was actually a little bit of a stress relief not to go. though being 6 weeks non-weight bearing was a totally unexpected major debacle/hassle
when the company is paying though it does sting a little to miss the trip.
Not getting into a Mejia good guy/bad guy debate Â
Because it's useless.
BUT
This suspension does give me the slightest glimmer of hope that he really was taking something without knowing what was in it. Or at least I am hoping so...

Wouldn't you just stop taking things at all after the first suspension?

Completely agree here. Can't possibly be that desperate (though I didn't think anyone would be dumb enough to have that happen once and then use the same products again).
the Clippard acquisition looms large and may just have saved our season. At least this news broke after that deal was consummated or Mejia's idiocy could have provided Beane with enough ammunition to wring greater compensation from us.
So much for that.

Trade for Clippard was not done when Mets got the news. but probably would have gotten done regardless.

I thought Mejia was going to get traded, PJ correctly guessed steroids. Nothing more than that.

In a trade or another suspension?

This is the non-physical equivalent of blowing your fingers off.

Not even a competition...
