article/interview.
Most interesting nugget was
CT Charlie : 7/29/2015 7:23 am : link
Mara's saying Flowers at left tackle. So Mara is as hopeful as the rest of us.
Wow
Milton : 7/29/2015 7:30 am : link
How many times did he mention how important it will be to stay healthy? You can tell he's shell-shocked from the past two seasons and the early injuries to Beatty and JPP.
By my count...
Milton : 7/29/2015 7:36 am : link
He says the word "healthy" 10 times throughout the interview.
Good interview.
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 7/29/2015 7:36 am : link
And I'm with Mara-we are due for some good health.

Nevermind Beatty's injury and the JPP mess.

The problem is "due" has nothing to do with it.
Milton, sadly you are right.
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 7/29/2015 7:49 am : link
But I can't imagine another injury filled season.
I don't know if
thevett : 7/29/2015 8:01 am : link
stats are kept but it would be interesting to see if where most happen Home or away ?
he really did harp on the health issue
mattlawson : 7/29/2015 9:36 am : link
toward the end. mentioned it 6 times to close out the session.
I wonder
JonC : 7/29/2015 10:01 am : link
what Tom Condon's opening proposal was ...
for Eli
JonC : 7/29/2015 10:02 am : link
NYG already knows Big Ben's new deal will be viewed as a starting point for framework, but I wonder how much higher Condon floated the trial balloon.

I'm sure it was quite high. He wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't take a shot at the moon.

He's a tough negotiator, but he's also a pro.
I expect they'll come to terms sooner rather than later.
ageed, coach
JonC : 7/29/2015 10:28 am : link
Got to think it was at least 5/125.
.
BrettNYG10 : 7/29/2015 10:52 am : link
Is there a possibility they're waiting to make a decision on JPP to better determine how to best allocate the cap hit?
Mr. Mara said 'stay healthy' about 50 times in that interview
Torrag : 7/29/2015 10:56 am : link
It all starts there. No organization in today's salary cap era could absorb the plague of injuries the Giants have suffered the last two seasons and win. He seems confident it will change if only because of the law of averages.

That said Beatty and JPP are already compromised for an extensive part of the season in all likelihood. It has to stop there. Beason staying healthy for a change would be ideal.

They surely have mockups mapped out, word over the Winter was AAV target was somewhere between Big Ben's and $24M at the high end.

2 guys that have kinda gone under the radar in these health discussions are our CB's. It's vital they stay on the field. Even more so than Beason, imo.
Thanks, Jon.

Approximating Ben's deal makes a lot of sense to me, at least on the surface. I suspect Ben won't have as good of a post-35 career, though.

JonC : 7/29/2015 11:31 am : link
Eli's camp's target, to be clear.
Yup, that makes sense.
BrettNYG10 : 7/29/2015 11:33 am : link
Thanks.
Rapelisberger's legs are getting banged up over time
Torrag : 7/29/2015 11:33 am : link
But he's one of the biggest, toughest, meanest SOB QB's I've seen. I can't stand the guy on or off the field.
BBI doesn't miss a thing!
nicky43 : 7/29/2015 1:19 pm : link
I wanted to point out it's sad that Mara was hoping for a healthy year for us and we are already hit by health issues to a key player on offense and a key player on defense and BBI was all over that already.

I do agree with Mara that you would at least expect to have a much better year as far as health goes because the last two years really were horrible in that respect.

It's been so bad that ALL OF US can't seem to post any comments without adding the "if we/he/they can stay healthy" qualifier.

John, how about those responsible for so many lousy draft picks?
Are they on the bubble along with the coaching staff?

My thoughts, too, because the drop-off after Prince and DRC is significant. The loss of just one of the two will put our pass defense into red alert.
