Still can't get over the fact that Leon Bright never had a fair catch!
LOl, yeah that brings back memories. I think it became a point of pride for him because there were some time it went against all logic to not fair catch yet he never would.
Thanks again for all you work on this site. It is appreciated.
and I still can't believe how exceptional Tiki was for us. Frustrating that the narrative was tainted by his idiotic personality in the years after football. He should have waited a few years to have a mid-life crisis.
Regarding sacks, if you have noticed, my list includes all of the pre-1982 sack numbers, including players who retired before '82 and others such as George Martin who retired after but also didn't have all of his sacks officially counted.
Eli is the only active player in them. You look at the QB stats for some of those guys in the 70s and 80 you remember the drech that we had to watch on a regular basis.
Thanks Eric, as always, for maintaining such a quality site for all these years and, God willing, for many years to come.
Great stuff Eric, thanks. Leon Bright would rather get killed than

You may want to note this there, since it's a good practice that's often not followed.

I've never understood the "NFL didn't keep it as an official stat." thing. You just said yourself that your list includes the numbers before 1982. Why the hell would the NFL not adopt the same concept? Just tack 'em on.
1) Tiki not only had most yards, but also has highest yards per carry. He averaged 4.7 per carry? That's unbelievable.
2) How in the world is Shockey fourth all time in receptions (and Hilliard fifth)? I never would have thought that he would make that kind of imprint on the franchise.
At the rate Beckham's going, he'll be third all time in two years.

Yards per carry, like most football stats, is very misleading. Barber didn't play in short yardage situations. If he had, his yards per carry would be much less and he probably would've had more first downs and touchdowns. No matter how many defenders Brandon Jacobs rolled over, he only got credit for 1 yd if the ball was snapped from the one.
