They had Hart playing RT in the OTAs, too, but I thought they'd move him to RG once camp started. I guess not. He's certainly got good size, but his athleticism leaves a lot to be desired.

looked good at RT. FWIW

RG seems that is where he should go. But maybe he's better than what's there at RT...????
Hold onto your butts...

I've always felt that we think alike on Giants' football, God help me :)
Ereck Flowers off to the side w trainer. Stretching lower body. Does not appear he'll work today.
It's Loooong time :P
Giants 1st team OL with Flowers not practicing:
LT Justin Pugh
LG Adam Getting
C Weston Richburg
RG Geoff Schwartz
RT Marshall Newhouse

Yikes...
Same can be said for any team that loses its top 2 (left) tackles this quickly. Hopefully EF gets back on the field quickly.

EF sits with a flexor and the OL talent dearth stares you in the face.

Yes, but my comment was more about what the OL would look like if Pugh was moved to LT, as in it's not a good case scenario.
I haven't seen Taylor mentioned in a couple of days. What's up with him? He's not working with 1's or 2's today from what I saw tweeted

Who's 1st team? Bennett and Taylor?

Was with the 2's yesterday (or Sat) IIRC
Well there is a "top" FA LG that's available if Pugh slides out to OT... :)

I think he played first day of camp with Collins as the 1's
Recently, Reese said that while the Giants look at measure ables, the key factor in deciding about a player is seeing how they actually perform.
OK but it might be interesting to see how Moore performs in Training Camp as well as the pre-season games because of the log-jam along the DL as well as the addition of Brad Bars to the mix.
The NFL average for the DL is as follows:
Broad Jump 9.44"
Vertical. 30.69"
3-Cone. 7.46
Short Shut. 4.55
40 yards. 4.90
10 yards. 1.69
Moore at 6'4" 265 lbs. Is: 10'2" 35.6" 7.08 4.33 4.95 1.72
Wynn at 6'5" 270 lbs is: 9.5" 34" 7.53 4.73 4.70 1.64
Bars at 6'3" 261 lbs is: 9'7" 32". 7.09 4.30 4.78 1.68
The points I'm making are that Bars, based on the measureables, is a very good UDFA signing, exceeds all NFL average scores and while Moore shows more explosion (broad jump and vertical) Bars is more nimble (3-cone and short shuttle) and is faster (40 yards) and quicker (10 yards) than Moore.
I'm putting Bars on my Deep Sleeper list although I recognize that he'd have to beat out a lot of players to make the 53 man roster. Also, hopefully Moore will continue to develop as a FB player to justify his high-pick choice by Reese/Ross.
4th day of camp, for god's sake. If you thought they were getting out of camp without nicks and bruises you don't follow football. I think they are being overly cautious and sitting people at the hint of muscle pulls. This will give two days off.
Hell if you really want Steve to get serious he needs to post up OO's combine #s and tell all those other DEs to sit the phuck down or pick up a mop and pail...
Sorry, what am I missing - are you just parroting the nebulous BBI whiners? My sarcasm alarm is turned off.
Yeah, but that is to be expected. I'm just not worrying at this point. Sure that line basically blows, but Schwartz to RT, Jerry RG, Richburg C, (Plug in? LG) and Pugh LT is functional - might have Hart at LG or Jones.
Wouldn't be surprised by camp end if Schwartz is the RT over Newhouse/Mosley and Jerry stays at RG.
They probably overworked Flowers and strained that hip flexor. Young guys heal quickly (knock wood).
They only have $4.6 mill left under the cap, so Mathias and Long are probably out.
Broad Jump 10.07"
Vertical 33"
3-Cone 7.36
Short Shut. 4.19
40 yards 4.62
10 yards 1.61
Of course, I knew that Bars was signed because of injuries to other players, having been initially looked at and passed over. He probably is camp fodder. But, he has measureables that for the most part are better than Moore's and better than the NFL average. Moore has not been able to hold his position on running plays- we know that. Can Bars do better than Moore? Who knows? Who would have thought at this time last year that Wynn would make the team and play well in games?

They can get an extra $14.8M pretty "easily"... :=)

Not going there...
LG - Schwarz
OC - Richburg
RG - Jerry
RT - Flowers
I still don't see a 21 year old raw rookie handling LT. Pugh will end up being the starter until Beatty comes back. If someone like Mosely can surprise and win the OG spot over Jerry well that would be great. Mosely isn't a rookie and it is his second year in this system so he should be fine if he finally shows something.
I don't see some veteran savior at this point. I'm rather hoping we just stay healthy; find the right mix of vets and rookies including Hart and make it work.
No, because our crack beat writer corps has better things to do than letting us know who's playing where. We wouldn't have known about Hart if it wasn't for YANKEE28.

Still early, but I don't think Flowers has played anywhere but LT, which means they are going to live or die with him there. Assuming everyone's healthy, the only question to me is on the right side. Do we see Jerry-Schwartz or Schwartz-Newhouse or Schwartz-Mosley?
Anyone know what that's all about?

Dude, I don't mean to be insulting, but give it up already. You don't see Flowers starting at LT? Well, I suggest you open your eyes, because that's where the Giants see him, which is why they've put him there since Day One, and why they've been working overtime to get him up to speed. If the Giants wanted Pugh there, he'd be playing there, but as long as Flowers is healthy then Pugh will be playing LG, which is where the Giants want him.
As for RG...although they won't admit it, I believe the Giants recognized that playing Schwartz at LG was a mistake, and it would be best for the team if he went back to RG where he made his bones in KC. Why would you want to put him back to LG? You want John Jerry starting at RG? He can't run-block for love or money, and it's imperative that the Giants run the ball effectively this year. That will keep the pressure off of Eli and the defense.
Agreed. I don't even think Bars was a starter on Penn State
