Geoff Schwartz is now out here at practice. John Jerry still at RG with 1st team. Could just be a rest day for Schwartz.

Larry Donnell with a sliding catch from Eli on a middle crosser. His first highlight of camp.

I seriously doubt

Newhouse makes this team. He's just a bad player, and I don't get how he was ever thought to be something this team would need. Who scouts these bums, a blind man?
Maybe lithium
Headhunter : 8/2/2015 3:27 pm : link
you are the missing piece. With your eye for talent you could put us over the top. I look forward to reading more of your observations as camp progresse. Hope you take a job with them, if not I can't wait to read your musings
I can easily tell when
Lithium : 8/2/2015 3:33 pm : link
Somebody sucks. That seems to be an issue with this team. Perhaps I can assist. Otherwise, waste products like Newhorse and other draft picks, who appear to be on scholarship, will continue to hang around.
You can?
Headhunter : 8/2/2015 3:34 pm : link
Boy I hope you take a job to advise them

Giamts having punt contest between offense + defense.
@BigTimeHank makes circus catch.
Marshall Newhouse drops.
@tmoore94 + John Jerry make

Did he really have to post that Newhouse dropped the punt in a meaningless contest? LOL. Damn. Just harsh.

Johnny Boy must have the day off. Lithium filling in admirably for him, though.

James Jones, working with Nassib, just made a tough deep sideline catch. Couldn't see the corner.

Like I stated, easily. When I'm sure most morons on BBI were praising pukes like Joseph or Brewer, it took me all of one preseason quarter to realize they were worthless. These are just examples of a long list.
Looking at the table...seeing nothing there.
Klaatu : 8/2/2015 3:50 pm : link
Realizing that that's what you've brought.
This guy better stay healthy after last year...

Geoff Schwartz had some soreness in his ankle, hence the rest day, per Coughlin.
Schwartz, from yesterday:

Q: The follow-up question would be are you limited in any way?

A: Im limited in just sometimes it just gets sore or whatever. Im not going to re-injure it. Im not worried about that. Its just a matter of getting the strength back. I was really pleased with how yesterday went, at least the reps wise. I think were all a little rusty, but I was pleased.

Have to get someone other than John Jerry up to speed at RG, and the sooner the better.

The cupboard is bare, we have zero OL depth. Far cry from when we brought in Seubert as the 3rd TE on running plays.
it took me all of one preseason quarter to realize they were worthless

Congrats! You have now raised the bar to the first few practices! You are a treasure to be nurtured around here

3 stars for Day 3 of #NYG TC
1. Devon Kennard
2. Bennett Jackson
3. Victor Cruz
Joey, the whole league has zero OL depth.
Klaatu : 8/2/2015 4:14 pm : link
That's why guys like James Brewer and Charles Brown and J.D. Walton all have new teams...why a broke down, beat up Jake Long is such a hot commodity...why Michael Oher is starting at LT for Carolina...and while Anthony Collins and Gabe Carimi will probably get signed by some team before the Summer is out.

Regardless, Geoff Schwartz has yet to show that he can stay healthy, and if he can't, I hope the Giants can find a better option than John Jerry, who is an abysmal run-blocker, though a fair-to-middling pass-blocker.
What ever happened with E.Mathis
micky : 8/2/2015 4:20 pm : link
did he sign with the Jets?
Klaatu
Joey in VA : 8/2/2015 4:27 pm : link
Good points all, there are some shitty OL in this league. Tyler Polumbus makes rosters, that's all you need to know. The only hope is maybe Moseley or the chubbo from Florida State.
Joey, I'm hoping that Mosley can supplant Newhouse at RT.
Klaatu : 8/2/2015 4:39 pm : link
And if Bobby Hart can eclipse John Jerry on the depth chart, then "Ford's in his flivver and all's well with the world." I suppose we'll get a better sense of what we have when the preseason games begin.
Bennet Jackson is a surprise
DavidinBMNY : 8/2/2015 4:47 pm : link
And a welcome one. One can only hope. It's training camp!
it's time to go get an OL
DavidinBMNY : 8/2/2015 4:49 pm : link
Newhouse is a backup. We need some one who can start on the right side.

looked good at RT. FWIW
I'm hoping a decent veteran shakes loose at RT
David in LA : 8/2/2015 5:01 pm : link
Newhouse raises zero confidence for me. If not, we better hope Moseley and Hart can step up. I know Yankees said Hart looked good at RT. Isn't he supposed to be more suited for the inside?

They had Hart playing RT in the OTAs, too, but I thought they'd move him to RG once camp started. I guess not. He's certainly got good size, but his athleticism leaves a lot to be desired.

RG seems that is where he should go. But maybe he's better than what's there at RT...????
It's sounding like between Newhouse, Mosely, Jones

Schwartz's ankle and an untried Pugh at LG and a rookie LT the OL is a real crapshoot, despite all the early optimsim. I hope something good pops out of all this.
Agree Bill. I just posted similar thought on another thread.

Need something positive to develop here on the O-Line, one of which is the First Teamers lock up their jobs and start develop some continuity well before September.

Hold onto your butts...

Same can be said for any team that loses its top 2 (left) tackles this quickly. Hopefully EF gets back on the field quickly.

Bush league move on Pugh's part if he really did trip DaMonster. Shades of Flozell and Tuck.

Yes, but my comment was more about what the OL would look like if Pugh was moved to LT, as in it's not a good case scenario.

Well there is a "top" FA LG that's available if Pugh slides out to OT... :)
