Pineda has Grade 1 forearm strain. Same as Miller, who missed a month. Being put on DL, but #Yankees feel he will pitch again this yr

Well we will find out just how deep the system is over the next month either because they step up or because we use them to acquire someone today to step up.

he's been not great this year, and was hurt early but he's been a real solid pitcher for 2 years prior to this in Seattle. Leake is another guy to look at as has been mentioned. The Mariners are an interesting team to watch over the next 24 hours. Is pretty much anyone not named King Felix,Cruz or Taijuan Walker on the block?

Sense get from #Yankees is as likely to add rlvr to deepen pen to help rotation. NYY seems even hesitant to move the Warrens and Mitchells

the last decade. True much of the time they haven't had the prospects to compete on the trade market. They do now however and he's being prudent. People would say it's a no brainer to throw guys like Warren/Mitchell out there but you have to decide is the guy you are getting really more helpful than them right now? Warren has been pretty damn effective this year.

between Mitchell/Warren and a trade target is very expensive in terms of prospects.

trade for a decent reliever, move Warren back to being a starter, and roll the dice...

Not sure what they gave up yet.

Safeco isn't why his numbers suck - he's actually much worse on the road this year. His numbers suck because HE SUCKS. He can't fucking hit.

we'll see Ackley splitting time with Drew there instead. And Refsnyder won't get another chance at 2B until next year... maybe. You never know with the way this franchise handles minor leaguers. This really pisses me off.

Ackley at Yankee Stadium: 17 games, .296/.397/.481, 2 HR, 9 RBI.

Probably means nothing. I don't get it, but neither Flores nor Ramirez had a future here. We just have so many outfield and relief prospects.

pitcher. Makes no sense otherwise. It still doesn't make much sense from the standpoint that Ackley is utterly worthless, but that's beside the point.

Sad to see a guy like Flores go but he didn't have upside to do more than play AAA for us. Ramirez just wasn't able to harness his stuff.

Fine with the deal. Maybe Ackley helps and he didn't cost anything.

Can't see Ackley splitting time with Drew as they are both LH hitters. Splitting time with Ryan, yes. Which leaves Drew exactly where?

brought in a big contract guy to play 2B so Ackley was pushed out. They only owe that guy 194 million after this year.

doesn't really bring much but I'm more interested in how they'll make room for him. DFA Jones probably makes the most sense

Cashman sees Ackley more of a 1B/OF bench guy than a 2b considering how few games he's played there recently. Hope this is the case as I'm not sure why Refsnyder isn't being given a shot.

They're absolutely god awful as an OF. I have no idea what he's trying to do with Ackley or why he has wanted him so badly for like the past three years now. Flores would have been better as a fifth OF if that's what he's supposed to be. Drew, as crazy as it is to say, is probably a better overall 2B than Ackley is/would be. Garrett Jones pretty much has the same stats as him if he's supposed to be the new backup 1B. And Jones has played a lot more 1B than Ackley has. I think Ackley has only played there... 17 times in his career. I just don't get it.

Ackley played some 1B in college, I believe, but he is a right-handed fielder so I don't see the attraction to playing him at 1B in MLB. Jones despite his flaws is at least a decent defensive 1B.

said he wont be played as the primary 2nd baseman, but rather all of the field. Still likes Drew there.

I was feeling so nostalgic for the Lyle Overbay era.

-Forgot that Andrew Bailey is on the Yankees recovering from surgery in AA right now. Perhaps an option for the bullpen down the stretch.

-Nick Goody and Bryan Mitchell being called up to replace Pineda and Moreno (I think?). Yankees suddenly now have 2 new relievers and a new starter last few days.

Cotham was mainly relieving at SWB, and Moreno was mainly starting, so maybe Moreno replaces Pineda in the rotation.

We'll talk to Girardi soon, but I'm told by someone that the plan is to use Ackley at second base. Hmmm. Perhaps Drew is on the move?

as their Brock Holt. We are going to need two utility players who can be plugged in all over of the field as we get into the second half of the season. At least Young continues to make it easy to give Beltran a rest against LHP.

promoted to AAA. Maybe he could reach the MLB in 2 weeks or so?

He's been pretty meh to awful last two years (2012 + 2013) but has apparently looked excellent so far and was great in 2009 and 2010 - let's see.
