Doesn't sound close & gotta think TOR is looking for cheap options now

Re: Parnell
Metnut : 7/30/2015 2:35 pm : link
That's why it's important to look at velocity and K rate when it comes to certain pitchers. Parnell's ERA was good, but his stuff was clearly hindered by lack of velocity and he wasn't exactly striking guys out at his pre-TJ rate.

Hopefully we finally get good news on Blevins and can get him back in 2 weeks or so.

has 11 DRS in RF. He's playing well fielding-wise despite the poor arm.
I was all
Metnut : 7/30/2015 2:36 pm : link
for dealing Niese when we needed a spot for Matz and Colon looked like a mediocre pitcher instead of someone who is completely cooked.

At this point, we can't afford to deal him.

Yup. Dude's almost a 3 WAR player today. He's been unbelievable.

I'd do that despite his terrible numbers...

Rather get Pillar and Roberto Osuna

And I'd rather a million dollars but c'mon that's not happening lol Osuna has been dominant in his age 20 season and Pillar has already been worth 2.1 WAR. We couldn't get either of them let alone both.

He's virtually untouchable.

Doesn't TOR need more than just 1 pitcher? Who do they even have? They can't pitch.
Well they just got Price, also have Dickey & Buehrle
Eric on Li : 7/30/2015 2:40 pm : link
Could definitely use another arm, but they adding Price and Tulo are 2 massive moves. I'd guess they will look to get a 4/5 starter relatively cheap at this point vs. giving up another big asset.
Familia has to right the ship

I know, can't hurt to ask, maybe add another "piece".
Playoffs
DanMetroMan : 7/30/2015 2:42 pm : link
started today I'd guess Price, Buehrle, Estrada would go 1-2-3
SShin
DanMetroMan : 7/30/2015 2:44 pm : link
the Blue Jays aren't trading their starting CF for Jon Niese and Osuna is 20, has been dominant and signed for a long long time. Unless the other "piece" is something ridiculous like Matz why would they even consider this? They are clearly trying to win a WS in 2015.

Didn't realize Pillar had 2.1 war, so i guess that's not happening.

If Familia cannot go after the layoff probably Carlos Torres as he has pitched in that situation before

Any.baseball stat that isnt seperated by league is virtually pointless. Parnell is a huge issue.

How so? Going by that subject line, at worst they're 5th in the NL.
Mets
DanMetroMan : 7/30/2015 3:08 pm : link
and Jay just don't line up very well
Losing Mejia is big
Vanzetti : 7/30/2015 3:09 pm : link
it kinda negates acquiring Clippard

but really, it hurts only in regular season since Mejia was not eligible for postseason. Plus, one of the starters will go to the pen for postseason.

Matz?

maybe it will rain so much that they will just cancel the game?
PhiPsi125 : 7/30/2015 3:13 pm : link

giving up anything of value for Castro. One of the most overrated players in baseball.
I wonder if
Eric on Li : 7/30/2015 3:26 pm : link
In the leadoff role he'd be almost as much of an upgrade as Gomez, though obviously the defensive questions could be an absolute deal breaker.

Has about 55M total remaining with 2 years after this one. Colorado would probably have to kick in at least 20M for it to even be a consideration.
Weird - that last subject was about reconsidering Reyes
Eric on Li : 7/30/2015 3:27 pm : link
don't know what it got cutoff.
surprised they are bringing Familia back in

Given his salary even Cuddyer for Castro ends up being "meh". At his salary he's a "big" addition to the Mets payroll at 10, 11, 12 for 17, 18, 19 and he's been TERRIBLE, also terrible in 2013 and off field issues. I'm a gambler but pass.
