after 5 complete innings the game reverted back to the last full inning, or in this case the 8th inning and is declared final. So it's just like Familia never pitched and the end of the 8th is the end of the game.
like some says the SD broadcast team reported.
Nope. Rubin posted the rules. It's considered suspended under the rules.
RE: RE: If we trade for Upton and the game has to be resumed at a later date
Imagine he hit a walk off for US in a resumed game at a later date? LOL.. that would be bizarre and right in line with something that would happen with this team.
I think (but could very well be wrong) that he would have to play the game as a Padre, since he was a Padre on the day of the original game (would apply no matter what team he is traded to). Their roster would have to be what it was on that date (same deal if Padres trade other players). Thought I remember reading that years ago.
Very possible I mis-read that, or they have changed it since...
the Padres forfeited it would be one of the lowest moments in baseball history and truly sickening and I say that as a fan of the team that would profit.
It would never happen. I was really just joking anyway. Hopefully it doesn't come down to that.

LOL, I was in the car headed to a wedding in VT. I didn't know they resumed the game, Familia came back in and gave up a 3R HR to lose the lead. I thought there was still 2 outs in the top of the 9th. So the resumed the game long enough for that and then delayed it again? that's some sick karma there.
WTF. I guess at this point you have to laugh.
Maybe Flores gets a PH GW HR?

Didn't this happen once before - a guy playing for both teams in the same game due to a suspended game?
The only way for this game to properly end is a Flores walk-off homer, reversed by replay #Mets
Gary- "What a crazy 24 hours this has been for both Flores and the team"
Ron- "It appears Padres manager Pat Murphy is discussing something with the umpires"
Gary- "not exactly clear what is being discussed, they are pointing to the area around home plate"
Gary- "Wow! Flores being called out! Home plate umpire Mike Everitt is saying Flores foot was outside of the batters box when he swung"
The more I read, the more I really believe the Gomez thing was purely financial. The Brewers wouldn't take on money and the Mets balked. The hip stuff sounds fucking bogus. Heyman said Gomez was already told his hip was fine.
is the way to go. Like the 300 Victor Cruz threads with people refusing to believe he is healed until he is on the field. Yeah, invest Wheeler on Gomez's word, smart business
I despise the Wilponsis and clearly feel the payroll is a serious issue for them. That said I believe Gomez hip could be bad. Compare his base running stats over his career. Something isn't kosher.
It might be his groin or something else but it really doesn't sound like anything is wrong with his hip. It has been said a few times that he was already given assurances it was fine.
And the guy is playing every day. It's not like Cadaver where he literally couldn't even be on the field or do anything but pinch hit and snail the basepaths.

It's not even just the stolen bases either. His defense is down. His power is down. Something's not right with the guy.
You throw the credibility of your Doctors out of the window? When a Team doctor says I never saw his medicals or his medicals were clean and I let Wilpon make me the fall guy. I'll apologize to you
These doctors? They don't HAVE any fucking credibility. Timetables have been incorrect on every single injured player this year and we've had these issues forever now. Every single player has setbacks and misses more time. Every one.
I think there was one injury this year that was diagnosed with the correct timetable and that was Herrera.
How can anyone trust the medical opinions that come from this franchise? I know I don't.
Whatever, I'm just so sick of everything that comes along with this garbage franchise. If it was possible for me to bail and root for someone else, I would have done it years ago. It's just not in my DNA.
For once I believe the Mets are serious in their attempts to add a bat. Gomez fits their profile. He's only costing $9M for 2016. That's exactly the bargain prices these cheapskates like. This is just far too public a situation with terrible PR consequences. These slimeballs like to deal their dirt quietly in the shadows. Not in plain sight.
Pay attention. This isn't an isolated circumstance with this guy. He has mismanaged the pitching staff and BP in particular since he got to NY. Three times since the All Star Beak alone. He is directly responsible for questionable decisions that cost us games. A lot of games. It's been going on for years. He should never have been extended. It was the worst decision of Alderson's tenure as GM bar none imo.
If this team comes up two games shy of a playoff spot I won't be shaking my head wondering why. I already know why. Collins.
take on Gomez's 3 million dollars is borderline ludicrous. The deal was already agreed upon. Everyone has acknowledged this. It got squashed once the medicals were being reviewed. To think the Mets concocted an injury excuse so they could back out of acquiring 3 million dollars ON top of the fact that its clear as day Gomez IS injured and having a rotten season is unbelievable. It truly is.
That said I totally get why Mets fans are paranoid when it comes to finances so Im really not criticizing anyone here. It just really does seem unbelievable in this case.

This was far too public a decision for them to be playing fast and loose with. There was going to be a lot of public backlash if they dropped out at this stage. They avoid that like the plague.
Backman should be fired over the Leathersich/Black stuff. Anyone who trusts him with our young arms is out of their minds.
One of the strangest things Ive ever seen. Im guessing Viola needs to share blame as well. How does the pitching coach not tell Backman to pull him either? Just horrible all around. Im still speechless.
No surprise considering the outcome of original Parra andGomez deals

Will Upton have technically beat himself?

Asked whether he's hurt, Carlos Gomez said, "I don't have no problems. I'm playing, and I feel really sexy about it."

Bullpen gives up 7 runs, blame manager.
I don't know why Niese didn't go one more. He wasn't great his last inning.

I feel truly sad for Leathersich. Given the Mets current pen he likely loses on at MINIMUM a few hundred thousand dollars, if not more. Sad.

But Again until the Mets prove its not about the money. Everyone is going to be skeptical.
