Montero and Niese would still be here

A fine rebuttal
ZGiants98 : 7/30/2015 8:01 pm : link
in all this would be acquiring Bruce. Bruce is making more than Gomez and is having the better year. He doesn't play CF but Im fine rotating outfielders around paying Granderson in CF a little. Grandson's range in RF this year has been excellent.

Im also not so sure Conforto has LF locked up for the rest of the season. The 4 hit game was nice and all but he needs to keep hitting to keep his spot.
He might leap frog Montero
Headhunter : 7/30/2015 8:01 pm : link
if he keeps dominating in Binghamton. Niese might be gone tomorrow at 4 or over this winter
Fulmer has much higher
ZGiants98 : 7/30/2015 8:02 pm : link
upside than Montero, and I still like Montero.

$5 dollars doesn't buy you diamonds but nobody told you to spend it all on chewing gum and rubber bands @MetsGM #Mets

Cuddyer 8.5, Gee 5.3, Mayberry 1.45, Parnell 3.7

So we can defend Sandy all we want... imagine what basically 20 million worth of talent would look like vs. that off-season?

Less than two years of Chase Headley?
Wow Astros got Gomez
Rflairr : 7/30/2015 8:20 pm : link
unreal.

That really sucks. He would have totally changed this lineup.

lol

Boras on Gomez pasing #Astros physical, not #Mets: Gomez's June 16 adductor exam and MRI reports (cont)

stated the hip is structurally clean. Texas unlike New York doctors respect Cheesehead medicine.
He really was a much better fit than Bruce would be

I'm interested to see how the rest of the season plays out for Gomez in Houston.
Its hard to be optimistic
Rflairr : 7/30/2015 8:26 pm : link
with Alderson as GM.
I feel like I finally sided with the Mets
Deej : 7/30/2015 8:36 pm : link
and said this wasnt about the money, it was the medical.

The Astros trade is a gut punch. It looks to me like they took a bit of a discount (when you factor in Fiers and the comp round pick). But this wasnt a giveaway. Houston gave up a lot. #40 prospect, Nimmo/Rosario level prospect, and at least one of the others was interesting.

They will either be in the thick of the pennant race or be very much out of it by Sunday night

Familia needs to get better fast!
How does
spike : 7/30/2015 9:47 pm : link
Astros' package for Gomez compared to Wheeler/Flores?
btw
spike : 7/30/2015 9:54 pm : link
this has t o be one of the worst 24 hours in Mets history.

Gomez no trade
gut wrenching rain delay loss
Leathersich and Blake Taylor need TJs
I dont
NJGiantFan84 : 7/30/2015 10:26 pm : link
Think the Mets backed out of the trade because of money. Not that they arent cheap, but why agree to it in the first place if you didnt want to spend the money? I think they didnt want to risk dealing a starting caliber pitcher who is locked up for a few years and a player who has flashed starting ability for a one and a half year deal with a player who has injury concerns.

The Astros were willing to take the risk. I am not going to kill Mets ownership for this.

So why are his SB's abysmal, and what about that quote from Gomez?

Crashing into the trade deadline
Giants2012 : 7/30/2015 10:51 pm : link
lol

On deck:

-can still make a trade after the deadline
-winter meeting options
- maybe more players crying and the Manager wondering WTF is happening
What a difference a week or so makes.

Our bullpen consisting of Familia, Mejia and Parnell seemed invincible. Now Familia and Parnell can't pitch a scoreless inning and Mejia is suspended. Our newly acquired Tyler Clippard can't replace all three.
