The only people reporting it are using Francesa as their source, and he's not exactly someone I'd consider really plugged-in with the Yankees. The beat guys haven't said anything.

Still working to talk to more people, but told by #Yankees exec Pineda dealing with forearm muscle strain not elbow, not considered serious
people were leery when Miller/Tanaka went on the the DL with similar things predicting doom and gloom TJ surgery and it was 3 weeks to a month and they have been fine since.
Life's too short to go around worrying about this stuff
If it had been, the Yanks would have been "all in" on Price.
So long as just a strain, this might be the best thing for Pineda. Keep in mind that he did not pitch in 2012 or 2013 and only threw 76 IP in 2014. He has pitched in 118 this year.
His career high was 171- way back in 2011. It is probably best long term for Pineda and the Yanks to step back for a month, get him re-started in September and keep that IP total around 150 and then push him in 2016 to get to 200. Reduce the risk of causing harm by overwork after essentially 3 years off.
If true, they do have some decent to good internal options.
Diego Moreno certainly earned a start after the other night. And Severino is starting to look dominant in AAA - 10K's and 1 hit allowed in his last start.
I really hope they don't make a big move (and I'm happy all the big pitching names are off the board already)....we've got a huge lead in our division....and the playoffs are always a crapshoot anyway. Make a few minor upgrades and let's roll the dice with what we've got.
With Severino, Judge, Bird, Jagielo, Refsnyder, Sanchez et al. ready to join the big league team in the next year or two it's an exciting time to be a Yankee fan. Let's watch our next core develop....it's been a long time coming.
no need to break him. Same with Tanaka. Look what happened with CC.
Need more arms which is why trading a bunch of them away for a rental isn't a good strategy. If you NEED that arm because the wheels are going to fall off otherwise then so be it. We'll see if any of this changes the approach.

Pineda has Grade 1 forearm strain. Same as Miller, who missed a month. Being put on DL, but #Yankees feel he will pitch again this yr
I think just shoulde 2011 he had some arm issue
More importantly, elbow issues mean only one thing in 2015.

No matter how you slice it we need more arms to throw in there.

Trade for Gallardo and have him pitch tonight.
That would be great but do not see it happening.
He's been sketchy recently, so maybe a rest is in order.
