A 4th receiver who could step in and produce..Sure he's dropped his share of passes, but I'm not going to get too caught up in that..He also makes plays..As a 4th receiver, this was a no-brainer imo
it's a good depth signing. If the kids perform he probably doesn't make the team...if someone falters or gets hurt(now there's something we sometimes see)he can step in.

Confirmed veteran WR James Jones has agreed to terms with the Giants - pending a physical tomorrow.
14 touchdowns 3 years ago, at least 50 grabs four of the last five seasons.
This guy is here for a number of reasons. An insurance policy for Cruz, a motivator for Randle, and most importantly... a good players who's gonna help us win games... and he's cheap somehow.
He got very little desperation on most of his short routes that's not good for Eli. These are the kind of moves that make you ask if they felt they needed someone what took so long. From all reports our WR's have been doing well in OTA's hope this move does not hold back Washington and Davis .
That being said, hopefully he doesn't make the team. Right now he provides extra insurance in case of injury and other circumstances. Having too many good players at a position is a good problem to have.
Could also be the real truth about where Cruz is at right now.
Jones is competition for what should be a strong group. I still think we'll see the "real" Cruz later in the season. I just don't know how "real" he'll be. My gut tells me he will never be 100% but 99% ain't bad either.

I understand this thought. I thought it immediately, too... but that just isn't the deal and we shouldn't read to much into it. Everyone.... from the Giants organization, to the players, to the media, to Cruz himself, says that Cruz's rehab (knock the fuck on wood) has been literally as perfect as possible. Ahead of schedule and nary a set back since that awful night in Philly.
I'm not going to read into this and assume something bad is happening to Cruz simply because we picked up a quality WR. Is it fair to say that this is an insurance policy for Cruz? Absolutely. I'd have a backup option EVERY TIME one of my best players is coming back from major surgery, no matter how good the rehab has gone.
From a Victor Cruz standpoint, that is all this is.

Kick dem tires I guess.
Stone hands - ( New Window )
But only 5 drops last year with Oakland...maybe he didn't like the cold or thought Rodgers threw the ball too hard?

3 TD game vs Bears - ( New Window )
Good move.
Not at this point in his career. Look up the season he had and compare it to Randle's.

Look at the offenses and who was throwing to them.
I know those aren't the deeply analytical stats, but I don't think he'd make a bad 4th WR.

Fantastic.
He's definitely had some shitty drops on occasion but the guy definitely can get open and he'll be right up to speed on the offense.
We just got a solid starter with the ability to stretch the field as a 4th/5th WR. Hard to find fault in this move
But BBI is up to the challenge!

Thank God Speedy Wheels is here to police these things! What we would do without you??

Hahaha this was never in doubt!!
those of you barking about Cruz are making the wrong assumption -- this is more about Randle, Washington and Parker
Jones is a proven commodity and he makes TDs -- I think he will push Randle for #3 -- Randle better get it
I can imagine a 4 WR set that will drive defenses absolutely crazy!!

He's 31 years old and was cut 1 year into a 3 year /11m deal.
I'm all for signing him. I even like it. But the downplaying of Rueben Randle goes a bit far at times.
