Any one giant from the past in his prime who would it be?

For me my guy says lt but I am.not sure how that wpuld play out in our scheme. I would pick strahan. You guys?
sorry

For poor spelling.
LT.

no question.
Mel Hein
x meadowlander : 7/31/2015 11:31 am : link
Come on. A CENTER who won NFL MVP. PLUS he was a solid DL.

PLUS, he NEVER got hurt, and NEVER got busted with blow or 16-year old prostitutes.

And he didn't need a facemask, like the pussies who play today.
LT no question,
smshmth8690 : 7/31/2015 11:33 am : link
but I think a case can be made this year for Jumbo Elliot.
LT
Mike in NY : 7/31/2015 11:36 am : link
Though a ball hawk DB like Percy Ellsworth or Vencie Glenn would be useful :)
LT
steve in ky : 7/31/2015 11:39 am : link
And I find it hard to believe that anyone who watched him play would pick anyone else.

The question would be better phrased any past player other than LT.
Other than LT I would consider Bravaro

ugh Bavaro

Q re LT
Jay in Toronto : 7/31/2015 11:43 am : link
would we need to switch to a 3-4? Do we have the personnel?

I'd give Roosevelt Brown strong consideration
yeah
jingle_jangle : 7/31/2015 11:43 am : link
I guess it has to be lt.

LT hands down...
okiegiant : 7/31/2015 11:45 am : link
now if you couldn't pick Taylor who would you choose?

Elliott? Bavaro?

I am not surprised that the overwhelming answer is LT
Matt M. : 7/31/2015 11:49 am : link
He's my choice as well. I don't think it would matter what personnel/scheme you ran. He is the best defensive player ever and in the top 2 or 3 for best player ever.

Now, if you want to take him out of the equation as a too obvious answer, I think my next choice would be either Strahan or Bavaro or Rossevelt Brown, given our current needs.

Maybe, but right now I'm thinking this offense with an actual tackle.

LfuckingT
Strahan

Is second. For today's team needs especially. We could kick JPP to the curb.
I assume you weren't a fan in the 80s
Gman11 : 7/31/2015 12:04 pm : link
Because if you were, then this is a dumb question because the answer is obvious.
LT
eli4life : 7/31/2015 12:06 pm : link
And as far as those questions would he fit our scheme? You build defense around him period
If not LT
Boatie Warrant : 7/31/2015 12:18 pm : link
For this current team I would go Harry Carson. We need a leader on defense!
I watched LT.
x meadowlander : 7/31/2015 12:19 pm : link
But the question was - if I could take ANY player.

IMAGINE a CENTER who would win MVP in today's NFL. What would that mean? Pancake blocks nearly every down, a second-level steamroller. PLUS he's a freakin' 2-way player!

MEL is what the Giants need, not LT - could keep Richburg at Guard, entire line improves, plus a DL STARTER. With the JPP and Beatty injuries, MEL HEIN is what the Giants need.

Love that helmet, btw...
x meadowlander : 7/31/2015 12:20 pm : link
clearly, protecting the ears was more important than the eyes and face. Too funny.
You think LT couldn't dominate playing in a 4-3?
njm : 7/31/2015 12:25 pm : link
Surely you jest.

For the 2015 Giants if not LT I'd say Roosevelt Brown.
LT
Giant John : 7/31/2015 12:29 pm : link
No even close.
njm: Taylor could dominate in any scheme...

Mel Hein weighed 225 pounds. Kind of light for a Center nowadays.

As for LT, he'd probably set a record for getting flagged and fined.

I'll take Bavaro.
My top 5 would be
dep026 : 7/31/2015 1:07 pm : link
1. LT
2. Brown
3. Bavaro
4. Carson.
5. Tunell

LT was not in any way a dirty player or cheap shot artist. He hit the shit out of you, but never a cheap shot. Jaworski in particular and others generally have said that consistently.

Well hold on - I presumed in this fantasy that players would be adjusted for size and speed. :)

A MVP center in today's league who could play DL as well would be at least 50 lbs heavier than Mel.

So, again, I'm going with Hein. +50 lbs.

No, but LT simply wouldn't have been allowed to play the way he did. Some of the hits were absolute backbreakers.
as mentioned
RasputinPrime : 7/31/2015 1:45 pm : link
LT wouldn't be allowed to play in the NFL today. Look at Richardson....LT was that while high on crack. Otherwise it would be him without question.

Give me Jumbo Elliott.

You can't pick C.C. Brown. It has to be a player "in his prime." Brown never had a prime.
