NFT: FF: Keeper Debate...Jordy Nelson vs Mike Evans with

Shockwave : 7/31/2015 12:55 pm
stipulations...

So in one of main leagues i am part of the keeper system works as follows, wherever you drafted the guy the year before you lose the next round up the following year if you keep him. There is a minimum 7th round pick no matter what even if you picked the guy up 8th-14th rounds or a free agent. So if you score big in the draft on a rookie then you could realistically have him for 7 years as a keeper.

So...I have been dead set on keeping ODB JR for a 7th and Jordy Nelson for a 4th this year. The more i think of it the more i am leaning possible keeping Evans over Jordy just because of the long term value I will get for him. Both Evans and ODB can't be a 7th so i would lose a 6th/7th draft pick this year for them which i feel is more than than losing a 4th with Jordy, Hopefully he is there in the 3rd round and could pick him up possibly.

What do you guys think?

I'd go with Evans

Jordy will take a slight step back this year with Cobb becoming a number 1 type guy and the emergence of Adams who got all the raves from early reports.

Evans has the potential to be a 12-13 TD guy and will get thrown to ALOT.
do the keepers expire

aka, can't have them for longer than X amount of season? If you keep Jordy for a 4th this year would he be a third next year?

I'd say Evans, especially if my second question is yes.
Go Evans

You then have 2 young star WRs on your team for the next 6 or 7 season...

Leveon Bell keeper as a 2nd round pick is a no brainer right guys?

Depends on who else is on your team. I mean if you have OBJ as a 13th round keeper....
I'd rather have Nelson

I'd rather have the guy who's catching passes from Aaron Rodgers than the guy catching them from Jameis Winston. Nelson will be worth the draft price to be kept over the next year or 2 after this one in your format. I'd rather play to win this year than worry about 3-4 years down the line.

Besides you may end up picking up a RB at some point this year or next that you'd rather keep over Nelson or Evans anyway.
Great thanks..I got rid of Laveon Bell last year at the begning of the

season :(

Worst mistake ever...I could have had him for a 7th also this year. I forget if i traded him or cut him before the start of the season last year, or maybe a few weeks into it..

I'd rather have Nelson for this year

and maybe next year, but not after that, especially if his cost is 2-3 rounds higher. If this was a 1 year keeper that expires id go Jordy, but other than that I'm keeping Evans.
Umm
mdthedream : 7/31/2015 1:24 pm : link
you are all nuts Nelson is proven and has a QB.
I'd go Evans also
Carl in CT : 7/31/2015 1:30 pm : link
You could draft Nelson plus Cobb takes half the catches/TD's

Yea. A whole lot of craziness on this thread.
i'll second the you're nuts comment
djm : 7/31/2015 1:57 pm : link
keep Jordy and not think twice. Evans has done it for one year and as much as I love Winston we don't know the long term Evans value. Too many unforeseen factors could swing things. NElson is a lock to beast for the foreseeable future. Anything can happen but Jordy is the safe bet here. Safe is better sometimes.
i'm not even sure how Nelson made it to round 4 in your draft
djm : 7/31/2015 1:58 pm : link
but he won't be there this time around if you release him.

Count me in. Who the hell knows how that offense will be in TB this year.
why are people nuts
UConn4523 : 7/31/2015 2:05 pm : link
this is a keeper league and Jordy is now 30, who knows what happens to his body. I think everyone agrees he's the better player for this season, but if you think Winston is better than Glennon (I do), then why wouldn't Evans be a good option at round 7?
How long term do you want to think?
Torrag : 7/31/2015 2:09 pm : link
Nelson for three more years with Rodgers is going to very consistently put up good numbers. Evans has a lot longer future.

I picked him in the 6th round 2 years ago when he was coming off of injury.

UConn4523 : 7/31/2015 2:13 pm : link
so that means he'd be a 3 then next year, correct? If that's the case I'm definitely going Evans.
Because
mdthedream : 7/31/2015 2:21 pm : link
even in keeper leagues if you know what your doing you will replace players next year. The idea is to win a Championship no more no less.

correct

If the round value isn't extremely different
YAJ2112 : 7/31/2015 2:30 pm : link
I always go with the guy who will help me win this year. Things change too quickly in the NFL to be trying to worry about 2-3 years from now in a keeper league.

Yup. Cobb had 12 TDs and Nelson is coming off career highs. This nonsense about Cobb eating up Nelson's numbers is not proven. Nelson gets less attention the better Cobb is. Go Nelson 10 times out of 10.
Cobb and
mdthedream : 7/31/2015 4:05 pm : link
Nelson are both better than Evans.
One thing I have leaned in keeper leagues
djm : 7/31/2015 5:50 pm : link
Bird in hand is better than two in the bush...

Jordy knows how to keep himself on the field. He's a known commodity who is as likely to produce #1B WR numbers as anyone. He's as safe a pick as you're gonna get. And he's barely 30.

if Evans out produces jordy the next 3 years no one would see it coming.
