Getting this one started a bit early today. First off, tonight is the start of HUGE series. Secondly, seems some are sick of the other thread.
Season on the line here. And no one better than Harvey to start it off. Can they pull off the miracle and sweep the Nats? Win at least 2 of 3? Bigger than any acquisition they make today is the outcome of this series. Play well, and still in this for another month. Play poorly this weekend and it's all but over.
Anyone else, just completely wrung out by the last 48 hours? Wow!
Crazy. He went from getting booed earlier in the year to now being a cult hero! I don't know who's starting and who's not but either way we are going to have some serious firepower coming off the bench over the next couple months. We are about to live in a real world where our bench looks something like Uribe, Johnson, Flores, Cuddyer, Kirk, Plawecki.
And thats why we'll never give them up. They are a fucking drug and we are all addicts. lol.
Huge huge win. What a momentum swinger.
He's on pace for 19 this year, so really he's already that. He needs to be more productive beyond the HRs. Getting on base more often would go a long way.
Former Milwaukee Brewer Wilmer Flores with the walk off

goes on a tear and ends up being the 20 HR bat we all envisioned?

He won't get the abats. Looks like he's platooning with Johnson at 2B and giving Tejada a day off maybe once a week. If Wright comes back, Murphy will move to second and Flores really won't have a spot. I still think Flores is a nice piece for us though. If Wright needs to miss time next year Flores might end up having to play third.
He can take the Kelly Johnson role next year

Yeah more next year and for now he could still be a clutch bat off the bench. I definitely think Flores has been our most clutch hitter this year and I don't think its close.
3B. Wright, Uribe, Murphy, Johnson
SS Tejada, Flores
2B Murphy, Johnson, Flores
1B Duda, Cuddyer, Murphy
C TDA, Plawecki
LF Cespedes, Cuddyer, Conforto
CF Lagares, Kirk
RF Granderson, Cuddyer, Conforto
pretty nice depth right now.
What an awesome game and tremendous job by DMM and all the Mets fans at Citi for responding the way they did to Wilmer, especially that play he made in the 1st and his first AB.
In retrospect this was a great post Steve!

might be the jolt Wimer needed to get himself going but he doesn't look any different.

Ralph, yeah I was hoping. I even posted how if would be fitting if Wilmer hit a walk of HR prior to him doing it so I still had a little faith. That was the even better post (grin)
WELL SAID. HH, thanks for being the only rational one the past couple of days (and Z, of course). Threads were so brutal to read, but your comments were the only unemotional ones. Though the rest of the threads were actually pretty freakin entertaining to read...
Fulmer is listed at no. 14, FYI.
Jim Callis ranks the best traded prospects. - ( New Window )

no contracts, no who is taking steroids, just great pitching, best fans in the world who get it by the standing O's for Flores all night, great play in the field and the Hollywood walk off by Wilmer and the true joy for him from his team and fans. If this comes off sappy, then I'm a sap. LGM!!

eat a bag of... eh... suck it!
I'm sure the guys who are always even keeled are way better fans than the rest of us.. but it's just being a fan. Everyone handles it their own way.
Over the last 3 years I am 3-0
2013 - Jon Niese shutout vs. Philly
2014 - Bartolo Colon shuts down Oakland
2015 - Noah Syndegaard's last start
I guess it makes more sense to just send him down and maybe let him get some game experience in RF? I'd certainly prefer to leave Campbell on the side of the road somewhere, but if Cuddyer is back soon maybe you just wait to do it then and make the likely inevitable move now?

Send Conforto down. No use having him be a bench player. Chicago did that with Kyle Schwarber. Campbell is awful at the plate but he can play 1B, 3B and LF

Just saw this. Thanks Sheck.
Yup. But if you call him up on September 1st when rosters expand he wouldn't be eligible for the playoffs unless he was replacing an injured player that was. So thats why I hope we call him up a day earlier if its possible.
