JPP in a land slide.. so much on the line and such a dumb accident.. At the very least Plax was kinda-semi-sorta protecting himself in the light of the Steve Smith armed robbery... What say you?
any dude who wears sweat pants to hold his gun in the waist wins this battle.
This. Plax just got luckier. A few inches to the side
Hahaha, no shit. Shooting your own dick would've been way beyond stupid.
Besides, what's he doing in a club that he thought he needed to carry. All his money he could've went to a hi-end joint.
where all the hockey and baseball players are in this conversation? It seems like every week we read a story about another football player screwing up their career. I'm trying to connect the dots on why the NFL has a monopoly on professional idiots.
You have to be pretty dumb to make a big deal about not
going to OTAs because you are negotiating a contract and fear injury then get a truck load of fireworks the next week and set them off yourself. And then to totally shut out the team you are negotiating with and not get their medical advice.
At least Plax immediately contacted a doctor that work with the Giants to help him out.
Anyone here that hasn't played with fireworks? With JPP I feel like it's, but for the grace of God there go I. He's obviously got some bad people advising him but he's not some kind of monster.
On the other hand, a loaded semiautomatic with a chambered round in your sweatpants? And carrying without a permit in NYC?

He was at Latin Quarter...pretty swank place on 49th & Lex
So even more stupid that he thought he needed a gun

Meh.. there are plenty of stories. Many of the hockey stories occur out of the US. And a lot of the baseball stories occur in Central America during the off-season.
Derailed another Super Bowl run. Huge contract just signed. Could have shot his dick off. Could have shot someone else's dick off. Make believe tough guy with the gun in his sweats.
and I had to choose between JPP and Plax in a 1-on-1 Jeopardy matchup hosted by Alex Trebek... I'd go Plax without hesitation.
Being a major douchebag on top of being an idiot is what made Plax so "special". Despite this incident, I don't think I could call JPP a douchebag... just really really dumb.
Wasn't part of Plax' rationale for "packing heat" that Steve Smith had been robbed at gun point in the prior week or so?
He should have known better, but Plax ass-u-me d he carry permit in Florida applied in NY.
JPP was in a "no contract / contract negotiation situation" and yet chose to act like a 10 year old kid and light very large / dangerous fireworks off.
JPP may be the bigger idiot, but I'm very much convinced Plax cost us a Super Bowl.
before making a final decision, but Plax is the leader in the clubhouse. The Giants were the best team in football before he walked into that nightclub.
And he had a part in it.. but the Dline was foundering at the same time...
"The best defense is a good offense."
If Plax was still there, the offense would have been much more efficient. Drives would have been kept alive and more points would have been scored. Lots of pressure would have been taken off of the defense.
two dipshits. You hurt yourself with a gun or fireworks you are an idiot. I am not up on it, but it seems like these are two of the dumbest episodes of injury in NFL history.
For one, how do you not have any damn common sense to LET GO OF THE FIRECRACKER after you lit it? Its like someone in the military pulling the pin on a gernade and not letting it go.
Now a gun in an unsecure waistband of a pair of sweatpants while trying to get into a club. If you need to carry around a gun, maybe you should't be making a freaking spectacle of yourself in the first place. Much less going to a club at 2 in the morning.
I don't know who to vote for, but what I am seeing is that NFL players don't even exercise common sense anymore. Junior Gallette, Sheldon Richardson, Sheldon Richardson again, JPP, and probably in 20 minutes we shall see another report of a moron who doesn't exercise any iota of common sense and gets arrested for being stupid.
Guy had to spend YEARS away from his wife and kid.. His wife and kid had to spend YEARS without him. A fire work accident sounds completely idiotic but it really could have happened to anybody, any of you BBIers ever light off a shitload of fire works around or on The 4th? I have just haven't lost a freaking finger yet. What Plaxico did was so so so dumb, he had Antonio Pierce next to him, he could've kicked some fucking ass Plaxico didn't need a gun! We were so good that season and it looked like we we're returning to the SB until that moment.
JPP was personally idiotic (though who knows if others were in danger). Never thought much of the kid above the neck, and have thought he's been a head case since his second year.
Plax was not an overall dummy like JPP. Just a special kind of dummy.
And he cost us back to backs. We were far and away the best team in football even with a slightly hollow 11-1 record. Defense was breaking down but with the high powered offense, you get to play front runner on D. It was a blown opportunity and everyone paid dearly for it.
Had Plax not shot himself, he demanded double-teaming. Losing him changed our offense completely. The Eagles said as much when they beat the Giants round 1 of the playoffs.
The psyche of the team was NEVER the same after this mishap.
Giants 24-23 over Pittsburgh in SB as Eli hits Plax for the game winning TD with only 10 seconds left! Oooh Rahh....but alas it was not to be!
JPP is an idiot, no doubt, bad luck too, but Plax I think cost us a SB.
a 25 year old is permanently disfigured and may have lost his livelihood through a dumb but non-malicious mistake and we're pissed mostly because he's hurt our fall entertainment schedule.
This. Plax just got luckier. A few inches to the side
How many of us carried a loaded gun into a night club with the thing loaded while tucked into loose fitting sweat pants???? Not many I'd venture...

I think the winner is Plax by a mile.

JPP was just average stupid in comparison.

I have to go with Plax for the reason that his actions are less common.
Plus that was the best team I have rooted for as an adult (as a Knicks, Mets, Giants fan) and I cannot forgive him for ruining that.
2) He must have been really unlucky to grab the gun as it slipped and just happened to squeeze the trigger as he tried to grab it.
I think I'd rather trust something precisely manufactured as a gun than a random firework (I'd rather trust neither).
As far as JPP goes, we'll probably never hear the true story about JPP on whether the firework (had to be an M-80 or Blockbuster type):
1) Had a "short / quick fuse" and he was unlucky (still stupid)
2) He was trying to be "cool" by holding it as long as he could before throwing / dropping it and miscalculated (i.e. being a total moron).
3) He was drunk and had slow reflexes / impaired judgment (i.e. being a total moron drinking and playing with essentially explosives).

Here the damage is pretty localized.
