by subtraction, they need to get rid of CC and Beltran. Of course it will never happen. What pisses me off is the Marlins ate Saltalimachia and his 11mil for this and next year and the Rays ate 7 mil on Balfour. I understand it's a lot less that what the Yanks owe Beltran and CC. However it is closer than just the numbers. 7 mil for the Rays based on the teams salary is what 15 percent of the team payroll? what's 15 percent of the Yankee payroll 15-18 million? ( I'm just trying to make a point. I have no idea of the percentage of each team salary each player.)
Have been clamoring for this team to build from within and stop dealing the kids. They are doing just that. This is a fun season don't fuck it up by mortaging the farm. Stay the course. Like it.

That's exactly how I feel as well.
Who said I wanted to mortgage the farm? I am thrilled that the Mateo for Kimbrel trade did not go through, but we could have added a Leake, Haren type pitcher for lower prospects.
Which kids have the Yankees dealt in the past 10 years
The out-of-nowhere great seasons from A-Rod and Teixeira have been awesome to see and has made us a contender for the WS, but mortgaging the future again for a 30+ yr old wasn't the move to make.
Happy that Cash didn't pull the trigger on a move involving Severino. You never know with young pitchers but this guy has all the tools and has been getting the results. Hopefully he can replicate some of the brilliance the young Mets pitchers have shown, would love to root for a homegrown guy like that.
So the Dodgers are probably over $300 million in payroll now - where all all the articles wailing and crying about it as there were ten years ago when the Yankees cracked $200 million? Doesn't anyone think the Dodgers are ruining the game?
if they win 4 out 5 World Series you'll hear it. Of course the Yankees weren't spending crazy money until after that when George took control back. I wonder how the suckers who pay $850 a night for seats feel about Hal deciding he doesn't want to spend any more money.

Damn right. You'd have thought from reading the papers and watching ESPN back then that the Yankees had destroyed the game, and they were the worst thing to happen to baseball since the Blacksox Scandal.
Plus, in the mid to late 90s the Dodgers and even the Orioles one year (I think) began seasons as the highest payroll. The Yankees ended up with a higher payroll because of in season moves.
VERY surprised that Cashman said there are no innings limits on Severino. Usually with 21 year old pitchers they are capped at around 150-160 innings or so. Someone mentioned that Severino already threw almost 100 minor league innings
If Mitchell pitches well and stays in the rotation,

How do you know? He could bomb miserably and that 2 month rental could help win us another ring. But only one way to find out is to bring him up.

Because even if bombs, he wouldn't have cost us anything for a 2 month rental.
I'd love this.
