I admit I didn't know who this guy was and groaned when I heard that there was another guy joining the race on the Republican side. But I saw him interviewed on the Brett Baier report (they do a segment with each candidate with the panel which is very informative). He's a serious guy, military background, homeland security/intelligence backgroud, degree in foreign policy, law degree, Attorney General and Governor of Virginia. Yes, he's a conservative, but I don't think he's way out there.

Hmm, if you say that, then you've given in to special interests. IMO, all of the men (and woman) up there have an ego, they have to. And that's ok. As long as it doesn't get in the way of the job. I don't want someone who has an idealogical agenda, I just want someone capable of the job, follow the constitution and do what an executive is supposed to do, execute the laws that the people's representative pass, not make up his own.

No money. No point. What incredible egos these guys have to think they should be President. He'll never break 0.2 % in the polls

Is there any reason for either of us to think that a guy who has held the jobs he has isn't beholden to and in league with the special interests? Just because he's not their favorite in this field doesn't mean he wouldn't be a team player if he was selected.

I can handle a reasonable, rational conservative. Its the recent hijacking of the party by the *insert pejorative here* that turned me off
I understand being lured away by the honesty and integrity of Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Al Fraken and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Actually Al, I'm not fond of any of those. It comes down to the lesser of two evils. Its a matter of the overall philosophy of the parties with the hard right turn and hateful obstructionism of my old party. The 2008 financial meltdown fiasco started me leaning in that direction and over the years I learned enough and leaned enough to eventually tip over.

Please tell me that was tongue in cheek. Otherwise, it's a really fucked up accusation.
The distinguishing characteristic among those 3 congresspeople is that they are in particular identified for their Jewishness in a way that Wyden and Bennett (for example are not).
So if you want to talk about it, maybe Al should explain his post.
United States Senators from Oregon and Colorado who are Jewish.

..and don't forget Obama
It is an odd group of people. The Jewey-est prominent members of congress (or among the handful of such). The ones who wear their yiddishkeit on their sleeves.

Bennet, from what I can find, was born to Jewish/Cristian parents, and "believes in God"
Had a reputation as not a hard worker at the firm -- never really tried to build the lobbying practice he was brought in to work on, and was just happy to cash the guaranteed checks and be a "prestige partner" which no one wanted (I suspect that the DC partners knew exactly what they were buying and sold a bill of goods to everyone else; office politics...). When he ran in 2008 (remember!), his partners groaned across the board that they had to pony up contributions for a guy who had no chance and who wasnt even trying very hard (I was not a partner; I just heard to complaining).
