Dangerous toys in the hands of idiots ...

Imagine you or a loved-one being in a plane, making a critical approach at an airport - all of a sudden some fool jeopardizes the lives of hundreds because he wants to "play" with a new toy.

would like to know how big are these drones these people keep saying are all over the place threating Planes I am sure these are not predators or even raven drones that they are claiming to see but rather your typical foam or light plastic toy that I highly doubt weigh more then the average bird that are flying by these airports. I am not saying there should not be restrictions and these guys are not idiots flying near a runway but I have my doubts that the hype drones are getting lately is equal to the threat.
If one got sucked up into a jets engine

I'm guessing it could be problematic
I have a drone

and one of the first things you (hopefully) learn is that it is illegal to fly it within 5 miles of an airport.
It doesn't matter how big it is

it's illegal to fly it near an airport. How hard is that to understand?
I don't know what it's like today ....

But when I was in the Air Force, I walked a lot of flight lines, picking up any possible FOD (foreign object damage) debris.

So, yes, I'd say any kind of metal that would be gulped into the intake of a jet engine would not be healthy. If one of those stupid things hit the cockpit glass (airplanes approach at 200 mph), it could possible injure the flight crew.

Unfortunately, nothing's going to happen to stop this crap, until there's a major incident; then there will be tremendous outrage and a flurry of finger-pointing.
I have one

And I live near ewr. However I follow the law and don't fly over 400ft. I use it for videography and photography and I use it responsibly

These are incredibly advanced machines and they just need to be used
In a responsible manner. Unfortunately, some idiots will ruin this awesome tool for us videographers.
I don't think it has to be a military grade/sized drones...

for it to do damage to planes, especially if these drones are sophisticated enough to fly long distance and great heights. And I've seen some incredibly sophisticated drones flying around these days.
