I just find this funny.

Instead of the Eagles, plug in the Giants. How would fans react to us trading away a player at a position that usually suffers a lot of injuries this early in the season? There would be an uproar.

This is the difference between the Eagles being one of, if not, the healthiest teams over the last two years and us being the most injured team over the last two years.

Is an extremely questionable move for PHI because they already lack great starters + depth in the secondary. Boykin was one of the better nickel guys in the league. Yeah, he wanted a new deal, but PHI has money and CB is a premium position.
Guess the Eagles....

...took Thurmond's side on who's the better nickel CB.
To me

That player is worth more than that

Thurmond is slated to play safety.....because they are thin at safety.

Anyway, I agree this is a questionable move because Boykin plays pretty well. He's small, but makes plays.

Kelly again tossing aside another Andy Reid/Howie Roseman player.......really, really weird.

Robbie maybe last year yes

But 2 years ago that entire offensive line was hurt including Jason peters who was on IR
Well, he was pretty certain to walk after this year,

and with the way Chip churns the roster, there wasn't much chance of that turning into a Comp Pick. So they're getting something for him this way.

Still, turning a useful role-player for 2015 into a 1-in-4 chance in getting a useful role-player for 2016-2020 doesn't sound like much of a deal for Philly. I guess that the value Chip puts on "culture" has to bridge the gap there.
I would have liked to make that trade

Chip said last year Steelers' Nickel played 60 percent of the snaps. Figured there was a good chance Boykin would do the same in 2015.

Chip Kelly says the fifth-round pick they're getting from Pittsburgh becomes a fourth rounder if Boykin plays 60% of the defensive snaps.

Eagles pick will become a fourth-rounder if Boykin plays 60 percent or more of Steelers' snaps.

I am guessing

he was not big enough for Chip Kelly and I think he is due a contract soon. The guy seemed like a decent player so I am not said about this.

He made a comment that Chip isn't comfortable around black players.

Another player calling Chip a racist.

All I see is "our culture". Where did he mention black players?

Either way, Boykin is getting replaced by another black player (Thurmond or Rowe). So it's kind of a silly issue.

Boykin arrives in Latrobe: Chip not a racist, he said, but he and other players wished they interacted with him more and he related to them

That comment from Boykin in all likelihood sums up Chip Kelly the best. I doubt Chip Kelly is a racist, but he probably doesn't go out of his way to develop personal relationships with the players. I get the sense that he's uncomfortable with the personal side of coaching, and even more uncomfortable with confrontations, or players that "get out of line". Not sure if Boykin falls into that category, but I bet as long as Chip Kelly is with the Eagles we'll see a lot of guys get cut or traded rather than deal with the awkwardness of ongoing contract negotiations.
Good for Steelers, Good for Giants

I'd have given a 5th for Boykin right here and now for sure! Solid third corner who wouldn't be able to start for the Giants but IMHO is better than McBride. You need 3 super solid corners in this league, right now.
