yeah, having Conforto here is a waste. I'd rather see him rake in Vegas every day. Kirk's neck pain must be really bothering him to not even be able to sit on the bench
...that will be a bonus. Spinal stenosis cases involving professional athletes have a track record of ending badly. We know David has the character and will work his ass off. Ultimately it may be beyond his control despite his desire.
A few days prior, Wheeler had already asked his agents to express his desire to remain with the Mets. But he wondered if it was enough.
As Wheeler summoned the nerve to call Alderson, it became clear that the message needed to come from him directly. He decided that it needed to be, as he said, "refreshed."
Throughout the conversation, Wheeler reached for the proper tone, aware of the fine line that distinguishes asking from begging. He expressed the reasons for his desire to remain a Met, all the while acknowledging that he ultimately held no control over that fate.
By then, trade talks with the Reds had died down. So in an immediate sense, the call proved moot.
Yet Alderson admitted the conversation "actually had quite an impact." In all of his years in baseball, the general manager said he had never seen a player in Wheeler's position take the unusual step of calling.
"Again, if you go back to Wednesday and even this conversation, we're talking about human beings," Alderson said. "We all develop an attachment to each other and whatever capacity we serve, so it's hard."
As with deGrom last night it is understandable they may start out a little shaky until they get past their initial nerves.
I thought Thor was reasonably sharp. A really good hitter drove a 2-0 fastball that tailed in a little too much (also just the 4th pitch of the game). Definitely went heavy on the fastball that inning, but threw a couple good breaking balls so hopefully it was just gameplan and not lack of comfort with the breaking stuff. I'm guessing we see a lot more breaking balls next inning.
Yes. Tejada or Lagares
And with their luck, it will be a delayed return
@AdamRubinESPN
David Wright will stay with Mets in Miami, then St. Lucie to ease himself into games later in week.

Thanks, I don't recall them even mentioning him getting hurt but I do think they said something last not about his not being available.
This is why a playoff run, starting THIS year is so vital. Fans are starting to come back. Dominant pitching is also easy to root for and watch.

He was effectively blocked by the guys in front of him

Sounds like it as well.
