Baffert hates saratoga. Look for the Pennsylvania derby instead. Or he could just stay at Monmouth as they said they will make a race for him.
Why's Baffert hate Saratoga? I hadn't heard that before.
I head on TVG that he doesnt like the surface/hasnt had success there. And I know for a fact Espinoza dislikes Saratoga very much, something he actually told me personally.
At first I thought the would run in the PA derby, but it wouldnt shock me if he stays in NJ. Monmouth will easily create a million dollar race for him to run one more prep in.
at the race today. When he came around the turn and put the pedal to the metal, it was an awesome display of power. Pretty clear the jockey put the brakes on him for the last 1/4.
Saw him and Baffert in the paddock too. (plus Bill Murray) Awesome looking horse, even with his short tail.
Weird that somebody would divide this kind of thing by gender, but not by species.
I understand that a lot of people arent as big of horse racing fans as me, but if this horse wins the Breeders Cup Classic (which still isnt a guarantee) Pharoah would have completed the greatest horse racing year ever. And outside his 1 length win at the derby.... all his races have been sure domination.
I know many people will say he is just a horse.... but it doesnt matter IMO. This horse is legendary.
I will be at the Breeders Cup Classic, in the club house. If you will be there let me know and I will buy you a drink. We saw AP win the Arkansas Derby.

Agreed.
Although I'm not nearly the racing fan you are, I spend a lot of time with horses. I've said the same on other threads- whether it's eventing, racing, dressage, whatever- the top horses are absolutely phenomenal athletes with the same desire to win (especially in racing) as any of the top human athletes.

Awesome! That should be an outstanding time. Unfortunately its a little far from me. I was able to see the Belmont live this year and met with Espinoza for about 2 hours so those were the highlights of my year. I would love to get to a Breeders Cup though.
People need to realize that this is no sure thing for him. I always worry about 3 year olds that go against older horses. And if Honor Code races again in the Whitney like he did in the Met..... well he is legit. So is Tonalist and Noble Bird.
And a rivalry that never occurred due to inuries may happen... Texas Red actually won the 2 year old Breeders Cup championship, but AP missed it due to injury. Now Texas Red missed the triple crown races due to an injury of his own. Both owners said they would like to meet up. Should be fun.
If you put a man on a cheetah's back and asked him run over a mile he would collapse probably after twenty yards. Without a man on his back he would pull up after 100 yards.... Nothing is as fast as a horse, a cheetah is a sprinter only.
...My favorite all time horse was called Cunning Stunt. The owner hated the caller at Aqueduct and wanted to see him ruin himself as he called the race.

Yes, desire to win. Don't ever underestimate a good thoroughbred racehorse's desire to win.

I dont underestimate steroids and painkillers.
So it's cool to compare athletes across species, just not across genders!

it might take a minute.
