Flowers went gingerly to the sidelines (actually the back of the end zone where other players were) with a limp and removed his helmet.
Flowers was first approached by Schwartz (who was not in his upper or practicing, and was on the sidelines encouraging the rest of the O linemen). Schwartz and Flowers talked a moment or two, and Flowers was trying to walk it off. I don't recall Flowers participating in any more plays, but I believe he was part of the end of practice band stretching.
I thought it was minor at the time. Let's hope so.
Probably licking his chops. Banged up OL is tempting for a DC to blitz against. Beckham and a healthy Cruz are: 1) great at creating quick separation and 2) even better at busting short passes for long plays, especially with a "loose" secondary thanks to guys blitzing!

worth mentioning that Emmett Cleary (Boston College) got a significant amount of reps yesterday at Left Tackle. Expect to see more of him at today's practice.

Not saying he can't help, but his play was dropping before the latest injury. The last thing the Giants need is another injury riddled vet that can't play to his past level.

gettis/newhouse/jerry/mosley/herman we need to catch lighting in a bottle with a guy like long cause what we have now is not going to cut it.
At this point, they might try to resuscitate Gabe Carimi and stick him
it's probably a long shot (no pun intended) that Long is any better than vets like Jerry/Newhouse and at least the latter 2 don't come with injury concerns.
They do need to hope that the light finally clicks for a guy like Mosley or one of the other long shots (Bamiro, Hart, Jones, etc) surprises.

if not,then what?
Hope that Newhouse/Mosley can be adequate until Beatty is ready to return (hopefully in Oct). If the other 4 can stay healthy, there's plenty they can do to help compensate for 1 weak link (chipping with backs/TEs, short passes, etc). That said, I still think EF-Pugh-Richburg-Schwartz-Newhouse/Mosley has the potential to be better than the OL last season. Not that that's saying much, but I think Richburg and Schwartz are huge upgrades over the starters at C-RG last year...
At this point, they might try to resuscitate Gabe Carimi and stick him at ORT next to Geoff Schwartz, and then switch Newhouse out to OLT. At least this way they could give one side of the OL a great nickname: "The Western Wall!"
Then we can spend the next two thousand years lamenting the destruction of our Holy of Holies (Eli).

just for the lighting in a bottle,it feels like groundhog day with this off line depth chart, amazing the giants are still just throwing stuff and hoping it sticks, again.
But you want to sign Long???

Adam Getting? I would have figured Mosley or Jerry at OG? Interesting. Well, lets hope Flowers gets some work in by tomorrow. We really need him to be a rookie wonder.
we only really need him to hold up until Beatty gets back. I wouldn't expect him to be able to make it through the whole season, but even with his health the way it is currently, I would have to think he's better than what we've got.
Flowers is believed to have a minor hip flexor problem.
"He doesn't seem to be bad," Coughlin said. "This morning he was sore and by the time I caught him in the meeting room he was [turning his hips]. Hopefully it's just a short amount of time [he's sidelined]."
RE: Phuck me cuz I quit smoking 4 or so months ago
and it's beginning to look like I'll start again this upcoming season...
Right now is a great time to quit smoking. Why? In as little as 20 minutes you'll start to feel the benefits of not smoking.
Curious how long nicotine stays in your body? What types of nicotine withdrawal symptoms you'll have? Want to find out how many tobacco-free days it will take for your body to recuperate and no longer be at risk of the dangers of smoking? Link - ( New Window )
RE: At this point, they might try to resuscitate Gabe Carimi and stick him
fast, minimal amount of blood flow, esp. in a large, large man like EF. Let's hope it's minor--and don't rush him back. As someone said, playing him with the 1s and 2s, even at 19 years old, body parts get stressed and fatigued
A grade 1 will take 2-7 days to heal, Grade 2 1 -2 weeks, & oy vey, don't ask! Grade 3 (complete tear) from 3 -6 months.
The muscles involved are primarily two of the deeper ones that attach the femur to the vertebral column and enable the player to "flex," or pull in line his upper leg with his body.
Let us hope that either Flower's injury is Grade 1 or that Jake Long is available and willing. In one sense, this injury, no matter how slight, is a good wake-up call about how mediocre most of the subs on the Giants' OL are. IMO they need at least one more competent player at OT.

and then trains to get ready for the combine.. and then trains after that to stay ready for pro days.. and then gets drafted and comes to mini camp... and then keeps training after that.. and THEN they have to get better and stronger..
Where is the rest period ?? NFL players normally take a few weeks to rest their bodies.. rookies dont get that down time..
Its like people a shocked when rookies get a little nicked.. they havent really had a lot of time to rest their bodies.. never surprises me when a rookie has a little injury in training camp

I think most are minor, but isn't that what started DRC's injury issues last season?
And on a brighter note, Schwartz is back practicing today.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer beer during games. Unless they are night games (my early AM) in which case it's coffee.

I'm the same, but if I don't have beer on hand, I'm not turning down wine (especially watching last years OL!)

Fiddy, out of curiosity, what's your medical specialty?
Gettis has some skills, but by NFL standards, he's really small.
"He doesn't seem to be bad," Coughlin said. "This morning he was sore and by the time I caught him in the meeting room he was [turning his hips]. Hopefully it's just a short amount of time [he's sidelined]."
