ran away and hid after the beating. And he can't claim he didn't see it as I personally read other threads that he was involved in, got called out out in those for not responding.. and then once again disappeared there.
What difference does gender make when they are superbly trained fighters? Or is this some kind of a weird chivalrous thing not wanting to see women punch, kick, choke, and grapple with each other?
time Rousey fought someone who played up being a bigger bitch than Rousey was.
Eh...she's extremely confident and don't take shit from anyone else. But she comes across as pretty genuine in her interviews. Not sure what's bitchy about that.

She probably is a very nice person, but promoting some of her past fights have forced her to play the heel in the service of drawing more money in to watch her. For this fight, Correia definitely was doing the lion's share of that heavy lifting.

It's not weird. I don't mind watching, but I get that some people don't enjoy it.

I not saying they aren't trained or skilled only that I don't see the appeal in watching women fight.
But really while I like boxing I don't enjoy any of the MMA stuff regardless of who is fighting. But even with boxing I don't have any interest in watching to women fight each other.

Radar, you've lost Mike; you've lost middle America.

Ronnie, it's only recently that Rousey has become a fan favorite. In the past, she's relished the "heel" role.
You know, Bill2 laid the smackdown on me once, a long time ago, but that was a love tap compared to the scorched-earth destruction he leveled at radar.
Not only did he knock the little prick out, he jumped up and down on his body...then he got a steel chair and beat him over the head with it...and then he dragged his body out into the parking lot and ran over it repeatedly with a monster truck...and then he doused what remained with gasoline and set it on fire. Epic.
Amazing to me that by the time the fight gets to the clip above that Correia has already dropped her hands. For someone who's supposed to be a striking "expert" she sure had no clue how to handle Rousey's aggressive attack. She's backing away along the cage with her hands down - "hit me please!". I understand that she didn't want to clinch because Ronda would have gone all Judo on her, but nothing?!
Sort of reinforces radar's points on women in sports.
Which is to say, if you can't compete in the big leagues, then just hang em up. In other words, it was was like Mutombo vs. Mugsy Bogues. Except even less competitive.

Now now, no need to shit on Dikembe Mutombo like that. He always tried hard.
I will admit that I've also been on the receiving end of Bill2's Â
Education session back in 2009-2010 time frame (I think I was in Afghanistan at the time). He was gracious as ever and was patient in his approach, but I learned so much more about something I thought I was well informed on.

She isn't a great stand up fighter. They ran w that a bit as a way of trying to pump up the fight but she's average at best and slow as shit. She had no shot. Good payday for her but IMO she was barely a top 10 fighter at 135. Look at the combined record of who she has fought.
advice: don't get annoyed on the internet. It lives forever.
Anyway...Klaatu...I had no idea and don't remember. Would have said I enjoy your posts and contributions and humor. Sorry about that.
You shouldn't be sorry for being right. He brought up he fact that he failed. In fact, it's actually pathetic he even brought it up again. It's Like he's wearing a ball gag and begging to scream out, "Thank you sir. Please, give me another!"

It's too late to apologize, Bill. You scarred me for life...sent me into a downward spiral of drugs, petty crime, prostitution, and lunches at the Olive Garden. Damn those free breadsticks to hell!

At least I can wear a ball gag. I doubt you'd be able to find one that fits around that big pointy head of yours.

I can't figure out if you two are fighting or flirting.
I suspected you might feel guilty, but you shouldn't. The result was an asshole getting a whupping he deserved, and the rest of us getting some really fun free entertainment. The only mistake was not giving out popcorn.
The moral was that human assholes should behave like the anatomical kind: be careful where you shit, and you will avoid having big messes to clean up.
Besides, radar's behavior on the other Rhonda Rousey thread demonstrated a good point: He could have come back and said "perhaps I overstated," and calmed everything down. He chose not to.
Btw, Katie Ledecky broke her own world record in the 1500 freestyle swim yesterday (link). She sucks, though, because there have been 95 men's times that were better.
We are responsible for our own behavior and letting an unfortunate get under your skin is not cool. On the other hand for an aggressively needy unself aware person who knows ? Maybe the gang tackling or a shiv starts the process of being healthier.
To me at the time I was talking to Greg on a discussion site. I was not asked to write an academically sound paper or write a book. I think there are subjects we discuss where we would all be better off jumping from a wider and deeper perspective. Much like the econ threads were for awhile.
In the moment I felt I was asked to produce sources when I have no idea where my conclusions and original source material comes from. Especially on something fraught with counters that have to be weighed. I dunno Manh, like you I average no less than 30 hours a week reading or discussing ( and on the ME it is with Me people of depth and perspective) non fiction for over 50 years. I have no idea where and when I read enough cross referenced stuff to feel on solid ground. My guess is no less than 500 hours of direct conversation, 30 days in Iran and over 75 pre internet books and articles. I have no idea. The good news for anyone who comes afterwards is that now all that is accessible on the internet. There is not anything I could ever post about that anyone cannot know more deeply than I for I never intended to know one thing.
I also don't post about things I never learned enough about but enjoy immensely. Neither one of us posts much about football but I would say we probably learn a lot from and read most BbI Giants threads. I dunno that's just respectful of people who do know a subject. Good for them. Good for me. A chance to learn. If I get interested then I will do my own homework. Lincoln freed the slaves. Constantly learning is like breathing. I dunno George. I want to die once. I don't want to die mentally or curiously or stupider or emotionally any sooner than at the same time as physically. To me learning is living. To me relying on the kindness of strangers instead of being your own man who does his own work about and to the world around us is just like saying you are willing to die twice and short of who you can be. If I want to really live well I do the homework to do so. Who wants to rely on the kindness of strangers one day less and one dollar short of what you could if you worked. Our brains have to live out the time our bodies give us anyway. Why not have reverence for the gift?
Anyway that's what annoyed me. Either master it yourself by doing your own homework or don't. ..but don't confuse a useless lazy ass way of living as an ounce of wisdom. Contrarian contributions are great contributions. A lazy obstructionist is an emotionally needy person and not a contrarian. Do that on highways and freight yards...self isolation is a maladaption meant to be done alone. "He who is not busy being born is busy dying."
PS: Source: Robert Zimmerman.
Have a good rest of the summer Manh. Hope I see you at a game this season.

Very nicely stated, Bill.
There have been many economics related threads that I've enjoyed reading in which there was no way I was going to post anything as I would be talking out of my ass and making no contribution. Those threads are purely educational benefits for me. Same goes for many football threads with many knowledgeable posters contributing where I just sit back and learn.

and - if she gets some fancy big name male boxer in her weight class down on the ground, or with an elbo- it could happen.

Hi Bill!
Erm, you need to take that approach with a few other topics...
lol
I kid, I kid!
