2015: Eli will silence the naysayers

SirSirob : 8/3/2015 5:22 pm
I believe Eli will have the best year of his career and put up astronomical numbers with the weapons at his disposal. Defenses will be shell-shocked to try to account for everybody.

I see all these lists of top starting QBs that have Ryan and Newton ahead of Eli. I'm sick of it.

2015 will shut them up.
This is the year
CromartiesKid21 : 8/3/2015 5:32 pm : link
Eli will likely eclipse bigger brother Peyton statistically...will be interesting to see how the media and fans interpret it.
Definitely the 12th year is the charm.
BeerFridge : 8/3/2015 5:33 pm : link
.
I agree
sjnyfan : 8/3/2015 5:34 pm : link
Not only will he have the best year of his career statistically, he'll be a legitimate MVP candidate.
I'd love to see him break one of these records
SirSirob : 8/3/2015 5:40 pm : link
7 TD passes in a game

Norm Van Brocklin's 554 yards passing in one game (He got close in that wild game with the Bucs a few years back)

Break either of the those, and it's automatic ride to Canton
Totally agree.
Eli's Got This Stuff : 8/3/2015 5:43 pm : link
He just has this confidence about him heading into this season that feels different.

That, some comments from members of the organization about arm strength etc, and the potential of OBj and Cruz in BMs offense really is making me feel more positive about this season than the last ones.

It would be hilarious if he conpleted 70% of his passes this year
Just hope
Doomster : 8/3/2015 6:01 pm : link
that the OL will keep him upright, and can convert third and short.....
As always, a lot depends on the OL
SanFranNowNCGiantsFan : 8/3/2015 6:06 pm : link
They gotta be better they have been.
If someone is still a "naysayer" re: Eli at this point..
arcarsenal : 8/3/2015 6:18 pm : link
I wouldn't expect anything short of a 3rd SB MVP to make those people think differently of him. It is what it is.
Not wth the fodder
Chef : 8/3/2015 7:09 pm : link
we are trotting out recently
I plan to draft Eli
Don in DC : 8/3/2015 7:16 pm : link
in my fantasy league to be my starting QB. I figure I can get him in round 6, and use the first 5 rounds on RBs and WRs.
Eli will always have his critics
Jay on the Island : 8/3/2015 7:18 pm : link
He could win MVP and lead the league in every statistical category and only have 4 interceptions and there would still be those who deflect the credit to Beckham, Cruz etc. or say it was a fluke season.
The one thing Eli will NEVER DO
David B. : 8/3/2015 7:25 pm : link
Even as his putting on his gold HOF blazer, is "silence his naysayers."

I'm doing the same thing! Last season was my first FF and it was a ton of fun. Honestly contemplating taking Odel with my first pick. Hopefully there will be some good FF talk on here as drafts approach because i will need some help!

Week 1 would be most excellent

Really?
Nomad Crow on the Madison : 8/3/2015 8:18 pm : link
Not with the OL we have right now. They are more likely to get him killed.
I got Eli in the 10th round last year
Daniel in Kentucky : 8/3/2015 8:45 pm : link
Won the league - 4,400 yards in the 10th round - haha
A season of 4,900 yards and 31 TDs
LAXin : 8/3/2015 8:53 pm : link
both of which he has achieved before, will put him #10 on the all-time list for both categories, certainly HOF material with two rings.

(Yes I know all he/we care about is a 3rd ring, not personal stats.)

The naysayers can say whatever they want but I believe in Eli!
213374 : 8/3/2015 9:45 pm : link
Besides, isn't Eli the only qb in the NFL with TWO SB MVP's?

Technically true, since Brady now has three.
There will always be Eli naysayers
blueblood : 8/3/2015 10:06 pm : link
deal with it..
I believe Eli will have the following stats
ANGPASS : 8/3/2015 10:13 pm : link
5,163 yards
38 TDs
68%
11 int

I know they are all career numbers but the reason i believe this will happen is because i think our Defense will be ranked in the 20's and the run game mediocre at best. The giants will be in a lot of comeback situations and shootouts. Also, the giants have the weapons to be an offensive juggernaut. Defenses could double ODB but randle and cruz will win most one on one battles. Donnell is a huge missmatch for safeties, and throw in the fact the vereen can get a lot of yards for eli in the passing game.

I hope the giants use this offense to burry teams and get leads so spags can put pressure on other teams offenses.
I was called out in a thread
dep026 : 8/3/2015 10:25 pm : link
after the SF game last year that it was time to move on from Eli.

So confusing....
Agree 100%
area junc : 8/3/2015 11:14 pm : link
When someone asked Archie a few years back what he was most proud of Eli he said "eli's done a great job becoming the QB Coughlin and Gilbride wanted".
If you listen to Eli now talking about McAdoos O I believe he's revived his career. Just like he did before, he has become the QB in McAdoo's playbook. He's rebuilt his body due to increased action in his drops. And at 34 his arm is stronger than Coughlins ever seen it. Yet to throw a pick in camp.

Thats not even getting to the fact he has the best 3 WR package he's ever had too. Something special may be happening here.
Short of a SB, nothing will change the naysayers
JOrthman : 8/3/2015 11:43 pm : link
Also, while I'd love for all that to happen. I'm not confident with our current offensive line and the fact that he's never been one of those statistical guys (if that even makes sense).

The O-line does not resemble 2013, I agree.

But I am concerned by what looks on paper like a revolving door. The right side of the line looks about as bad as I've seen in over a decade. And Flowers will need to play well above expectations to keep Eli upright.

And that's presuming there are NO injuries! One injury away from Mosley/Jerry lining up.

The only thing that provides SOME comfort is the fact that we've gone into camp freaking out over depth at WR, at TE in other seasons, and things worked out fine.

But yeah - if the Giants can even manage AVERAGE pass blocking, Eli should have a banner year.
Eli
NJGiantFan84 : 8/4/2015 9:31 am : link
isn't the one I'm worried about on this team. I fully expect a great year.

However, Eli could pass for 5,000 yards, win another Super Bowl, end World Hunger and solve the Israel-Palestine conflict and people would still criticize him.

One of the reasons why he is awesome is that he couldn't care less about them.
Just win the damn game(s).
Victor in CT : 8/4/2015 9:38 am : link
I truly believe that is all Eli cares about.

In the end, that's what most fans care about also. If the Giants win another Super Bowl I don't care one bit about anybody's individual stats.

Bet he could do a stand up routine over there and stop the conflict......no one will laugh.....they will become introspective...
And Pope Francis

would have to beatify him
