After reading all the opinions expressed regarding this situation I think it is probably best for the organization to assume JPP will not play this upcoming season and most likely never again in a Giants uniform. I believe the Giants want to work with him but unless they meet by mid- August I would expect the organization probably excludes him from their plans for the upcoming season. The team needs to prepare for the upcoming season. End the drama. It is time find out about the other players. Whatever happens with him next year can be dealt with after the season.
However, our fans' impatience is an entirely separate thing from how the front office should move. It is wise for them to wait. There is no reason to make any move with JPP now. He's not costing them any money and there's no big free agent out there for them to sign if his cap dollars became available to the Giants. If they move hastily, and he turns out to be able to play, they won't get any compensation for him. They also have to worry about how they look to their own players, and to agents and future free agents.
JPP and the Giants will probably part ways -- but there's no reason to rush that process.
The Giants are holding the cards....they NFI him if he, in their minds, is not ready.......JPP may say he is, and the Giants saying he isn't, leads to some type of arbitration....
The question is, how long can this defense wait for him, before it's too late?
"Where do the Giants keep getting these guys?"
It wasn't really a mystery. They were all high draft pics. They may not have been all rookie phenoms .. but, they eventually came into their own - quick enough.
Draft them high - if the value is there.
Look, don't get me wrong, if I thought he could come back by say game 2 and be playing at a high level by game 4 or 5 I'd be all for holding onto him.
But as of right now, we don't know if can play; we don't know if he does play how effective he'll be; and if he isn't effective why pay him all that money?
I still think that we should sign Prince and Eli long term by the end of camp and use 95% of JPP's money to do it. I'm no cap ologist but I'd have to think we'd be in really good shape going into next year if we did that.
JPP had a mishap. Unfortunate. But he wasn't really happy to begin with so why spread that "cancer" and the media into the locker room? I think he's gone and we are just playing the political, do the right thing game.

I think the "Football Gods" ... blessed the Giants on this one. The Giants were not sold on a long term (very expensive) contract for JPP. JPP, himself - took the discussion right off the table ...
I do not think he will play at all this year. IF ... IF, that happens - the entire league won't know what he can do in 2016. If the Giants want to cut bait with JPP - they maybe be able to find a team that will be willing to trade a 4th or 3rd round draft choice on a gamble.
I am not mad at him at all and I wish him the best of luck wherever his career takes him from this point (here or another team) ... but, the Giants my have caught a break on this one.
