Luck is probably the only QB I consider but I have a hard time taking a QB that early.
You take a risk with RBs but you definitely have to consider Bell. I know it is too early for a rookie but I can see Gurley up near the top by the end of the year in terms of keepers. I'd pick him up early.
In terms of WR I think Beckham has to be there.
We need to know you sysem better to answer the question better. Do players get contracts? If so, AP might be up there. I think he comes back with a vengeance. This is the best supporting cast he has ever had.
I have the first pick in a keeper PPR league... I've kept Gronk for a 5th rounder...
LeVeon Bell, Eddie Lacy, Matt Forte and Adrian Peterson are available. Who ya got?
I'm thinking Peterson...
I think Bell and AP are clearly ahead of the other two players. When I think about this on the surface the Bell has the edge because of the receptions. But then Bell will miss the first two games. Now, when I really think about Norv said AP will be catching passes. I can also see Minnesota running AP into the ground this year similar to what the Cowboys did with Murray last year. Even though AP signed an extention supposedly it is really backloaded so Minnesota can either pay a crazy amount of money or release him. So, I'd probably go AP for the short term and Bell for the long term.
Before clicking in to read all of the responses...
RB: No way would I consider a RB #1 overall in a dynasty league in today's league, I'd go WR over RB in a Dynasty format
TE: Gronk may be the best TE of all-time, he's that good, but you don't take an injury-prone TE who relies on a 38 year old Tom Brady #1 in a Dynasty
WRs... Dez (26), Julio (26), Brown (27), AJ (27), Demaryius (27), Calvin (29), Jordy (30)... Beckham (22)
As great as Calvin and Jordy have been, I think they're simply too old to take over Beckham (although Calvin is such a freak who knows what his career arc will end up).
(Dez/Julio/Brown/AJ/Demaryius)... those are the guys I could see an argument for taking over Beckham. But imo, Demaryius is the weakest of all of them because while he might still be an impact player without Peyton, his stats will likely go down and it might happen sooner than later since Peyton is ancient. AJ is the next to go because he's stuck with Dalton, which is a shame because imo he's the best pure receiver out of these 5 in real life.
Dez, Julio, and Brown are all more proven than Beckham with equal or younger aged QBs. So I can see why you'd go with the reliability of those guys. But at the same time, if you believe in Beckham's talent that's roughly 4-5 more years of elite level WR play that Beckham could provide over the other 3 based on his age. So the upside with Beckham trumps any other WR out there even if his floor/reliability factor is still lower than the other elite WRs because of the fact he's only played 12 games.
I would take Beckham over any other WR for the future in fantasy and real-life. Could just be the Giants fan in me talking. But even if I tried hard to be unbiased, I could still only take Brown/Dez/Julio (in that order) over Beckham for a Dynasty league.
Watch out for Mike Evans if Jameis turns out to be legit though, that pair could do some damage for a long time.
Julio's injury history and inconsistent play really worry me.
I think he's a clear #3 out of that bunch for me because of those injuries. But he's also probably the most physically gifted WR in the league besides Calvin, and Calvin is entering his 30s. He's just such a freak, I think he's the closest thing we've seen to Prime TO since.
And he has Matt Ryan who is about 4 years younger than the Ben/Eli/Romo group, and he plays in a dome.
He's definitely #3 for me between Dez/Brown/Julio tier I mentioned because of his floor, but he might have the highest upside of the 3.
Demaryius belongs in that conversation of being one of the most physically gifted receivers like Julio too. But I agree with your assessment of his value being directly related to Peyton which is only another year or so.

Looking at his contract details, he actually has de-escalators if he doesn't hit certain rush targets OR the team doesn't make the postseason. For example:
-$1M deescalator if he rushes for <1,550 yards OR no playoff with
Conversely, if he rushes for 1,750+ AND they win a divisional playoff game, he gets an extra $1M.
25 yards per point passing
4 points passing TD
6 points rushing/receiving TD

I wouldn't want to face AP this year...
