Dana White said that they'd never have women compete in the UFC.
Fast forward to today and a woman is arguably the UFC's biggest star.
Some of that can be attributed to the self-destruction of Jon Jones, and huge losses by Cain Velasquez and Anthony Pettis, but there's no denying that Ronda Rousey has tremendous crossover appeal, and a unique ability to draw fans to the sport much like Tiger Woods had for golf. She's an icon. She creates a buzz. And it doesn't look like her star is going to fade anytime soon.

The biggest thread to her relevance is the fact that they can't find a worthy challenger.
So for now we're going to settle for Rousey-Tate 3, with the hope that we'll get to see her fight Cyborg sometime in the near future.
But Rousey's impact will go well beyond her in-ring performances. I figure she'll inspire more young women to try their hands at combat sports, to become the next Ronda Rousey. Seems like the UFC is already grooming Paige Van Zant for that role.
She nearly died. Caused some issues, I recall reading somewhere. She didn't speak until she was 4 years old. Very delayed. I think she's somewhat self-consciious about the way she speaks to this day, because of that.
Her Dad was a big part of her early life. He encouraged her to never take a back seat to anyone. Sounds like a good dad. But he apparently had some demons ... maybe he got sick. Can't recall, but I think he ended up taking his life.
Ronda comes across like a biatch at times, but I root for her. She backs it up.
And the story about her mom is pretty cool. Started coaching Ronda when she was young, when Ronda had no idea her mom had had that life before she came along.
RE: Other movies where the star played himself/herself?
She has an interesting story.
Who else?
Who else?
Muhammad Ali, Evel Knieval, Bob Mathias, Jackie Robinson...
