Well, the real life version anyway. Former Met Mike Hessmen, now with the AAA Toledo Mud Hens, hit his 433rd minor leauge home run. That breaks the all-time minor leauge record.
It's not the big leagues but he's managed to play pro baseball for 15+ years. I'm envious of that - I wish I had had the talent to play even one season at that level.

just a quote from the Bull Durham. Crash didn't want anybody to know because it would tell the world he was a career minor leaguer.
Personally, getting paid to go play ball every day would have been better than LOTTO for me.
Although I still remember how awful Tim Robbins' attempts at a pitching motion were. Whatever faults Kevin Costner might have, he at least makes a convincing ballplayer. Charlie Sheen too for that matter.

Yes, Robbins threw like a girl, kinda like Scott Brunner playing baseball.
It's incredible how poorly minor leaguers are paid. Unless you're a high pick and got a big bonus, minor leagues are brutal. It's a huge financial relief when a kid gets called up to the bigs.

Charlie Sheen was a ballplayer. He played through HS and was supposed have been pretty good. He loves baseball and loves talking baseball. He said when they made Major League he had days where he threw over 100 pitches and then was out the next day. But, he was really pitching.
Robbins did look bad. but, they also hid it a little bit by making him have an unorthodox delivery.

There's an attempt now, headed up by a former minor leaguer/turned lawyer who is arguing that the wages paid are unconstitutional.
Saw this a few years ago, not sure how far it has gotten.

He got little support and gave up. Nobody wants to be a minor leauger for long. If you're good, you won't be there long and don't care. If you're not, you're on thin ice and afraid to make waves.

Corbin Bernsen also a real player.
