seems like Dombrowski wants to break the GM pay scale, the Tigers owner didnt want to do that so he let him go a few months early as a favor.
Why wouldnt a stud GM be worth $8 million to a team with lots of money to spend? Paying great talent in the front office would probably offer a huge ROI.

GM the one that gave Verlander and Cabrera those ridiculous extensions? Cabrera still had multiple years on his deal and they gave him a Pujols type extension until he was 40.
