Do you think last year was his ceiling? 71 catches 938 yards 3 TDs...with Cruz and OBJ on the field at the same time, and Shane Vereen, will this open up some more targets for Randle? I'm kind of "eh" on him, but he's a serviceable number 3 receiver.
What is your opinion?
So long as he stays healthy.
So long as he stays healthy.
Tend to agree. He may be a bit better statistically than how he looks on the field (if that makes sense) but I would say around those numbers. 70, 900, and 3 last year and the addition of Cruz, Vareen, and more time in the new offense should help free up space and opportunities.
Which of course we are all absolutely praying doesn't happen.
We need him to have his head in the game. If not, someone else is going to steal his snaps.
Randle will have lots of opportunities.
Talk is cheap. Until we see some consistency out of him, both running routes and catching the ball (not to mention showing up on time for meetings), there is no reason to believe he is any less of a slouch than he's been during his first three years.
2. Cruz
3. Jones
4. Randle
5. Davis
6. Harris
7? Washington
Or, have Washington as #6 and Harris fill a ST position.
He had a fire lit under his young ass last year late.
Beckham will draw double teams and a strong run game will keep safeties closer to the LOS.
I could see a 16 game 90-1200-7 type season from him. Why not if Beckham goes 16 games as well and draws all the double teams?
If Cruz is a #3 and Randle wants to get hungry and join the competition and is #2 in targets, that's fucking fine with me, lol. Just as long as we're winning games, baby shower.
4-5 catches per game is 64-80 catches for the year - does that represent a good year
Eli completed 379 passes last year - his most. If you look at roughly the numbers and match up completions from last year
OBJ 90
Cruz 75
RB's 75
TE's 75
you are up to 315 - if you see the 4-5 WR catching 30 passes, you are at 345.
How many does Randle get - does he take away from OBJ and is it realistic for Cruz to get that number
To me Jones is the fallback to Cruz as a slot guy
And he's the only wide out we've had in 10 years that isn't constantly pulling something.
And some of you are still bitching.
He's getting a big contract from someone next season.
Now he must demonstrate the light bulb will remain on, that's part of maturing into a true professional who can be relied upon before handing him an extension offer.
If he plays well, there's a good chance he'll be gone via UFA, but he's also our #3 WR until proven otherwise. You don't pay #1 or #2 dollars to a #3.
Lets not forget JPP!
What more do you want your #2 WR to do than take advantage of all the attention your #1 WR gets? And that's exactly what Randle did down the stretch when Ds started trying to take Beckham away (not that they had any success there either). If you want to see what a "good #2 WR" looks like, go rewatch Randle down the stretch last season.
And as good as Cruz is/was, he was never really a true #1 WR either. He was great when Nicks was drawing the bulk of the attention and his numbers dipped when Nicks got banged up and he started seeing more doubles. Cruz (healthy) is a low end #1 or high end #2.
Beckham, Dez, Megatron, Green, etc are true #1s. The D can focus on stopping them, but they're still going to get theirs.

We've seen some Giants recently play like crap in their contract year (Nicks and Rolle come immediately to mind).
Lets not forget JPP!
JPP did NOT play like crap last year..It wasn't 2011, but it was far from crap imv

Down the stretch, lol. Stretch of what? A stretch of losing 7 games? Randle had one fucking touchdown since Beckham showed up. Lol, he beat up some bad defenses. Like Eric said he disappeared "down the stretch" for a month before the Rams and eagles game.
