Playoff roster would be more interesting. Rosters expand in September anyway.

A postseason roster is allowed up to 25 active players.
I think that the Mets could not go into the playoffs with more than (4-5) starting pitchers.

Unless he is tearing it up I would send Conforto to AAA when Wright is healthy and have Kelly Johnson and Michael Cuddyer platoon in LF. Uribe, Johnson and Murphy can spell Wright at 3B. If Johnson is on the IF then Cuddyer starts or Cespedes moves to LF with Lagares in CF

What happens if Conforto is on fire?

I think that it is possible that if Matz returns and is pitching well that both Colon and Niese may not be on the playoff roster.

The bullpen needs an insurance arm. Should be doable. The rest of the moving parts will sort themselves out with playing time.

wrong with the discussion of playoff rosters, though it is kind of putting the cart before the horse since the Mets are in first place by percentage points (tied in the loss column) and behind a couple teams for a wild card and there is two months left of the season.

Are more flexible than many think. All players who were on the Augudt 31 25 man roster plus everyone on the DL is eligible. Plus, you can sub in a minor leauger for anyone on the DL. So Conforto as an example could still be playoff eligible if he was back in the minors before Sept. call ups.

Again. The issue is that we are going to have 27/28 players likely deserving of being on the roster for only 25 spots. Whether or not guys can return from injury or not isn't really the point. Anyways. Good problem to have I guess.

compared to the roster right now:

Add: Wright, Blevins, Matz

Subtract: Campbell, Gilmartin, A Torres

And if you think about it, that is one heck of an upgrade

Its cool but we are going to have a little bit of a roster jam if everyone else stays healthy. Cuddyer should replace Cambell first. I don't know who Wright replaces. Probably Conforto but not if Conforto is still hitting by then.

I meant playoff roster. I don't think he has to be kept on the playoff roster as a Rule 5 pick. But I could be wrong about that.

And just for the record, that is no slight to Gilmartin. He has very good stuff. Just think he might be too inexperienced. But who knows?

Gilmartin can be left off the postseason roster. I think you get my point though. Some good players are going to be going home.

They would definitely be fortunate. Not only does it assume that players return from injury, but also that injuries don't strike other players.
