and Giants?
"Every day that passes at Giants training camp is another 24 hours without an answer about Jason Pierre-Paul, the stalwart defensive end who was good enough, just months ago, to earn the franchise player tag. It is a ridiculously vexing situation, and on Monday the owner, John Mara, admitted to his own frustration.
“I’m beyond the point where I’m annoyed,” Mara told Mike Francesa, in an interview on the FAN. “I wish he’d handled it better but we’re beyond that. Do I wish he came here and had our doctors look at him? Yes.”"
* * *
"With or without JPP, Mara sounded as if he’d just about run out of tolerance for a team that hasn’t made the playoffs the past three seasons.
“The last few years haven’t been kind to us,” Mara said. “But it’s time for us to turn it around.”"

This doesn't bode well for Reese and Co.
same can be said for Tom ... I think if it came down to it, Reese would go first, minority or not, you can see he may be in over his head, maybe the move him within the organization to a different function ...
That's no way to speak about the namesake owner of the franchise!
JPP is turning into a real side show. Fortunately, the Giants have the stronger hand on that front.
Stop making multiple handles and agreeing with yourself. Everyone knows you're an idiot.
Literally a dozen or more good to great players were cut down in their prime for good. For good! Not a month. Not a season. Their entire careers were just stopped dead.
But yea go ahead and hammer Reese and this regime because they missed on a few mid round picks. That's rational and fair.

I think the sideshow has died down, he is no longer really noteworthy, I think most fans like myself have come to realize we are moving on without him, there are only some others who are crazy enough to think this guy will play for blue again ...
Not finding a single decent lineman after the 2nd round in the draft since he took over is a huge problem.
Why do people feel the need to issue blanket concrete statements with little to no wiggle room is beyond me. You're absolutely certain JPP will never play for the Giants again? Care to tell me tomorrow's lotto numbers too?
Very little chance of that happening. Most likely Coughlin would go and Reese would get one more chance with a coach of his own choosing
Or both Reese and Coughlin go.
Not finding a single decent lineman after the 2nd round in the draft since he took over is a huge problem.
So what do you propose? Fire the guy? HE's missed on 2-3-4 mid round OL picks...that's not exactly something to be fired over and maybe, just maybe this year's OL turns out to be OK?
If this team didn't lose 12 core players over the last 5 seasons to career ending injuries Reese would have had more error margin. That's just a fact. He isn't perfect and I agree that they could have planned differently but luck hasn't been on Reese's side lately. You have to admit that.

JPP: You can't break up with me. I've got hand.
Reese: And you're going to need it.
It's 8 years now, not being able to find one lineman with even a pulse after the 2nd round absolutely is a fireable offense. And on top of that signing guys like John Jerry and Charles Brown expecting them to play.
If the offensive line wrecks yet another season, it's on Reese.

Reese's track record over several years doesn't indicate him being part of the problem.

He had hand. He now has claw. Or hook.
The talent faucet has been turned back on, and the positive effects were already being felt in earnest last year on offense. If you're pissed about the record the last two seasons, blame picks like Marvin Austin, James Brewer, Clint Sintim, Jerrell Jernigan, and Jayron Hosley. Blame the injuries to Kenny Phillips, Chad Jones, and David Wilson. That group of guys is supposed to be the backbone of the team and they are all gone.

I see what you're saying. What I was trying to say is that there's still an overhang with no closure.
As for not playing for the Giants again, did you guys watch the defense against the Bengals' #1's? We can't afford to toss guys aside who can possibly play and this is our best defensive player.
Giants are proceeding as if he won't play.

Why would the Giants do this? And to sign the tender he has to pass a physical, which he clearly can't right now. Doing this would just cost the Giants a lot of money and potential salary cap space next year, no thank you
And for the record, I'm talking about the way he's handled all of this. The accident itself is something I can wrap my head around... but to be so secretive to your team (and your teammates), preventing the organization you've been a part of from gameplanning properly... when you're the one who screwed up... it really speaks to him having incredibly shitty character, IMO.
Tiki Barber our best offensive player retires from an improving Giants team
the next year we won the Super Bowl without him
every player is replaceable
The Giants want him under their care to garner the best information possible. I think they're a great, well-run franchise (especially relative to teams in the division), but they're still self-interested. JPP probably views the team cautiously. Add in losing a hand, and I think is actions are due to immaturity/stupidity, not that he's a tremendous douche.
They were great drafts but guys got hurt and didn't last very long. That's not on Reese. I'd make those picks all over again and not think twice.
2011 and 2012 drafts were pretty bad. Prince and Randle are good but haven't exactly shined year in year out and really that's all we got from those two drafts. That's a problem. Couple that with the career ending injuries and a bunch of players going from age 29 to 39 overnight, and we have a team that needed to completely rebuilt rather than just retool.
Fans get on Reese but really, no GM is covering up that amount of roster decay in one year. The Niners had a good young team that did a lot of things well for 3-4-5 years. Let's see how they handle this past off-season of decay. The Giants had that kind of off-season happen 3-4 years in a row, more spread out but twice the amount of player decay.
JPP isn't a scumbag or a POS. HE's just not making smart decisions because he's terrified that his ability to earn money is at stake. I feel bad for the guy. Just wish he'd come to camp and let the Giants take care of him. It would help everyone. If this was a team like Philly I wouldn't blame him for hiding out. They'd fuck him every which way until Sunday just like they did Steve Smith.
JPP, Beatty, Thompson - another off-season of injuries and mishaps which reminds me so much of last year. Oy!
I agree not a POS, but he is mishandling this badly.
Not finding a single decent lineman after the 2nd round in the draft since he took over is a huge problem.
Mook, Coughlin is just as culpable for the train wreck OL. Failing to cast O'Hara, Diehl (when Locklear was playing very well), and Snee to the bench when their best was clearly behind them is one major mishandling of the OL. The other that we don't discuss enough of is how our staff has adapted to the new CBA. Seems like Flaherty was able to get more out of our depth guys under the old rules.

This! +100
I love Reese, i think he's done a great job. I just think the modern game when the cap is so important, Free agency so penalizing and a dozen other factors mean that it doesn't get any better than two superbowls in a decade.
I don't love Reese because he's a minority. If I didn't like him I'd fire him in spite of being a minority. It's simply not a factor.
Who was the little Black coach who failed when he moved from co ordinator to HC...twice. He was a man, when Sharpton tried to take issue with his firing he stopped the race baiting Reverend cold. He simply wasn't a good head coach...helluva man though.
“I wish he’d handled it better but we’re beyond that.
And what always gets overlooked is the talent that Reese brought in through FA. Guys like Baas, Andrews, Locklear, and Schwartz were all good signings. But yet I suppose people expect the GM to possess some kind of wizardry to know in advance when his players are going to suffer catastrophic injuries and use magic to fill out a 53-man roster with nothing but star players.
The fact that we're even talking about Jerry Reese's culpability on a thread with the topic of what to do with a player who blew his own hand off tells you all you need to know about the lack of rationale people have when it comes to this GM.
This doesn't bode well for Reese and Co.
I doubt it. They are a scared and lazy bunch. Imagine the buffons they would hire with the problems we have to turn it around.

Why would they do that. If he's out for the season they pay him 14 million and he. Might have to franchise him again as an UFA? Even if he comes back great in 2016 it's moronic to pay him for a full season with zero idea if he can never play again ever
