Now before you feel the compulsion to go wild - I just fucking got home from Buffalo and watched the damn game on DVR. (made it from Niagara Falls to Albany in 4 hours 3 minutes, btw - it's a record for me - and we stopped for 15 minutes at Oneida - so there!).
Kuhn. I patiently read threads and posts about how he has value. How he makes a difference. How he's really good at jumping and getting his hand in the passing lane - despite not getting a fingertip on any passes. This is his value. I read that he's a quasi-captain or some madness? Huh? What the fuck?
I focused on Markus during the first few drives - obviously. Because i'm an asshole. And I played both sides of the line, coach both sides of the line and hope to know a thing or two about this and that. But putting that aside I am absolutely amazed by the fact that this guy is sticking. It's unreal. Tom Quinn-esque. Perhaps worse.
Every. Single. Snap. He gets off slow, stands up, digs his step, tries to gain, and finds himself ON TOP of the engagement battle after the second step in the gap. Meanwhile, the OL is under his breastplate, hooks him, points his thumbs to the fucking sky, puts him in prison and rides his ass down the field. It's kids ball. Folks, he loses EVERY SINGLE TIME.
While he manages to get an initial push with sheer inertia on a PP if the OL takes a bucket step, he's ultimately stood up (easily), leveraged vertically (making his punch completely worthless), then stepped through and under to completely eliminate the tiniest of advantage he created off the snap by playing outside shade as a 1-T DT cracking the C. I've never seen it before in professional football. The last time I saw it - honestly - was a coach telling his DT to jump the snap and dive at the ball. His ass was pointing at the slot corner. Uh. What?
Now that's not the worst (or best depending on your proclivity) part. The worst is watching him do ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING with his hands. He engages and does nothing. He waltzes. He dances. He pushes hsi arms out like he's SHOVING A CHRISTMAS TREE THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR. And ultimately he gets bounced off the line and eliminated.
No. No. No. THAT's not the worst. The worst is watching him do it. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Now I know what you're thinking. But B! His gap responsibility is the A Gap and he's eating blocks. He's doing his job! He's really good at getting no push and jumping up in the air and missing the oncoming pass by six inches! That! Is his value.
Nope. Sorry. There's no value in that.
The absolute worst - and I promise this is it - is the fact that a backup (was it Dominique Hamilton???) came in and immediately established easy leverage on the C, swam his ass like Phelps, got SKINNY and got immediate play-altering pressure on the QB.
Kuhn doesn't use his hands. Doesn't work shoulders, elbows or leverage. He never plays with speed. Never plays fast. He's easily manipulated, moved, turned, reached, and BLOWN THE FUCK OFF THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.
Awful. Just awful. I'm upset. Fuck.
Your comments are most welcome. Holy ass bags. Thanks friends.
Yeah. Sorry to go off on the site Eric. But it's like i'm personally offended by this. Coming out of college I could have done the EXACT same thing Kuhn is doing now (if not better because my hand work was great). It's bizarre.
I wouldn't wish that on Kuhn.
Maybe those idiot refs fuck-assing every goddamned call tonight. They deserve it. What a shitshow.
Can't wait for college ball to start.
Hell, gimme some HS ball. At least I can tell a parent to fuck off - your kid is awful (with sensitivity of course) and that's why he should try out for the Color Guard. This shit is ridiculous.
I think some positives might be that he works hard in the weight room and studies film.
However, it doesn't translate to performance on the field.

Overall, I haven't seen anything that really impresses me with him, nor have I been clamoring for him to remain on the team. Most importantly I remain as puzzled as everyone else as to why he is not only still starting but getting as many snaps as he did.
I did notice that Bromley (pretty sure he's the guy who replaced Kuhn and got the immediate penetration you were referring to) had at least two plays where he was blown off the ball, even though the DL was much more stout overall with him in the game. Maybe the coaches are withholding a starting position from him in order to teach him about consistency?
Ellis is the obvious replacement for Kuhn it would appear for the role of run stuffer. Let's hope he gets a chance to start against the Jets.
Wondering based on what exactly?
Two pre-season games?
He is being taken out by one blocker.
He has no awareness.
In trying to anchor, his back foot actually impedes Beason's penetration to the play.....so in effect, one blocker takes 2 players out......the opposite of what he needs to do.......absolutely infuriating.
My only explaination is they are throwing him into the fire......
Ellis can be a competitive #1 technique with Hankins.....Hankins can swap to #1 with Bromley moving to #3.......Bromley made an impact in his first play......
With Kuhn......you are giving up a 4 yard gain everytime......UGH! Infuriated me!!!!!!! My son had to tell me to stop talking about Kuhn.
Cut him after game 4...
Good story or not, there are betterder tackles on this team. Hopefully he is just being used as camp fodder or they are auditioning him for being cut.

Overall looks below average. Starting to question these coaches. Wondering if the Giants made a mistake with our 2nd year offensive cordinator McAdoo.. smh..

I wouldn't waste time wondering about the wondering - "smh" usage is becoming sort of a subset of the Z rule.
Bromley and Ellis are currently playing against 2's, but they have been really good. I think you can see the potential with Bromley. Ellis as of now looks looks pretty quick and active for a huge guy - more so than with the Jets
How is Kuhn helping Hankins on the DL right now?
I heartily endorse this post.
Think so.
The Giants really need someone to come along and bulldoze about half this roster into the swamp, but that's the opposite of what there thinking is.
As I said during the week, I can understand the initial interest in him and keeping him around for a couple of years. But, he has never progressed in any aspect of his game. On top of that there are several DTs better at him in every way. There is simply no justification in him making the final roster.
I'm not usually a big fan of B's vitriol (I'm sure the feeling is mutual (: ), but I did have to chuckle at the development of your argument, its eloquence, its vehemence.
What makes it so counter productive is that Ellis in particular is missing out on time vs. first and second teamers so he and Hankins can develop some familiarity, so we can see what he's really got. Same with Bromley. The gashing of the DL early on as was also the case at Cinn was alarming.
