Jordan has been kind enough to come on here and face the heat even going as far as explaining his stance on why they ask some of the questions they do. I dont agree with it but I understand it.
This article was done very well. I know the writers dont think that the fans want stuff like this and, like ESPN, they try to appeal to the lowest common denominator but if this typs of stuff is consistently put out then "the lowest common denominator" will be elevated and more fans will flock to your sight.
We need someone that will raise the bar for the other writers. I feel like they always get pulled back down though. Hopefully this will continue.
at the last couple of drafts, and the high pick projections for tackles (Fisher, Robinson, Scheff etc.) Erick is really the most athletic I have seen out of that group. It is going to come down to Technique, desire and discipline.
as among Peat, Scherff, Flowers, and even Collins there was a rotation of thought and consensus that one or the other was going to be the standout OL (tackle in particular) from this draft. For a while the Jints were focusing on Peat, but I guess EF's pro day changed the thinking, albeit not enough, apparently, to sway Reese from wanting Scherff if he was still on the board.
Much of the commentary about Scherff was whether his skill set/size would translate to tackle and whether he was much closer to his ceiling than Peat or Flowers.
If indeed scouts tended to rank Flowers lower because of problems (or inadequate coaching) with technique, that is the area that is fixable. As the poster above noted, do we still take EF if Scherff is on the board, same with OBJ last year if White is still there?
I know you are more than likely cognizant of all this, just musing on the recent past in response to your post.
Even the Redskins have already stated Scherff is a guard, not a tackle Â
I do not believe the Giants spend a top-10 pick on a guard.flowers made sense because he was a prototype tackle prospect which a chance to be a left tackle. Those always have more value than guards. I just do not think the have those positions ranked the same.
It looks as though on Ryan's speed rush EF was thinking about getting to set his lower body after his bucket step instead of mirroring Ryan's line of attack. He did whiff with his right hand.
Notable too on the clip of André Williams' run was how well Pugh sealed off the DT.
no difference of opinion here; my reference to Scherff is he was still on the board at 9 was based on the commentary supposedly coming from the Giants' war room that the Iowa product was higher rated. I think a number of the long time, better informed posters here reiterated that, even if from a G vs. T position and drafting that high it doesn't make sense. IF that was true, there may have been the assessment that Scherff could transition.
Good article for real football fans. Too soon to say for sure but Flowers seems like a terrific pick. Really gonna be fun to watch him develop. Hopefully the O line takes on his allegedly nasty personality.

Thank you Jordan.
Food for thought on the last two drafts.
Do we take OBJ if Watkins or Evans was there?
Do we take Flowers if Scherff is there?
So far, it looks like the Giants did well with those picks.
Tenacious.
Wall.
