Q: What have you seen from Markus Kuhn so far in these first two preseason games? We’ve seen him with the first team almost all summer. What has he done to earn that trust in you guys?
A: Well, he’s a big, strong guy. We’ve talked an awful lot about stopping the run, and he can hold the point in there, which he’s done over and over. He’s very smart, and so we look at him as a guy that can anchor down in there and can knock back off the ball. And he’s pretty much done that.
Chill, he's a backup, if he makes the team at all, imo
It's not..It will be Bromley, Hankins, Ellis and most likely Jenkins after the smoke clears UNLESS we become severely decimated there..
Whatever TC says to the press I'd divide by 20

tell me this can't be true. I don't know much about DT play, but all I ever see is Kuhn getting easily handled by one guy.

Phew, thanks. I knew I was missing something.
I guess what else can he say right? "The guy can't play in this league?"
We are a bit lost right now and Kuhn is, well, I don't know...Challenged?

A backup who could fall into a starter considering injuries..with history, it could very well be for several games this year
Kuhn is like a son-in-law to him.
I agree. bizarre.
Reading posts here makes it sound as if these guys are the four worst players to ever don a football uniform
The NFL has been drooling over the revenue potential of the EU for years. How many Europeans are there? Heck, how many Germans? Don't NFL teams have a revenue sharing plan? Despite little to no native interest in the sport of American football, the NFL has worked ceaselessly to get the game over there.
Well, Kuhn may be a lousy NFL DT, but he's a lousy German DT, who played the game while still in Germany. Think that does anything to help start building a fan base in Rhinehessen? The Giants are one of the highest profile NFL teams, and if you asked most Europeans to name one U.S. city, what do think the answer would be?

Sorry. But no way.
I'd be more inclined to believe that Strahan has something to do with him sticking based on their mutual connection to Mannheim, Germany. And that's even completely absurd.
The only thing I can think is happening is that Kuhn is taking reps against first teamers to make it easier for the "second stringers" to get some sort of confidence and unity against lesser competition. And that's even completely absurd.
Talk about grasping at straws.
Are the Maras German?
Coughlin is Irish.
What is Reese? German?
Bobby Nunn is definitely German. That's it! Solved!
What the fuck?
It could be wrong, but it certainly hasn't anything to do with ethnic loyalty.
Beside, everybody's favorite relative is - $ $ $ $!

TC. My reply is meant to convey that it has something to do with ANYTHING other than actual performance. Thus lending credence to your post. Sorry I wasn't clearer in with my sarcasm.
nailed it! - ( New Window )
If anything he's likely sending a message to the non-starters (Bromley, Ellis) that if they want a spot they need to show that they can anchor.
Generally I think you've got the coach answering the question genuinely, although it will be interesting to see if things don't change this week after the Jags game.
If Kuhn starts over Bromley or Ellis, then TC doesn't deserve to be a head coach anymore. There have been too many instances on this team in the past few years where the backup appears to be better. I would have thought Spagnolo determines who starts but I guess not.
I do hope this is just an audition. But given recent history I am not optimistic.
If we had a more flexible coach, Hart would be considered at RT, Unga would make it over Herz, etc.

Ah, my mistake. The sarcasm was clear, but I thought it was aimed at the absurdity of TC's post
